This campground was good! There are a few not so fantastic things about it and that's why I gave 4 out of 5 five stars. The pros, the pool is beautiful and not crowed most of the time, the bath house next to the pool is clean and air conditioned. The grounds are maintained very nicely, the lounge where no one really hung out is air conditioned, clean and comfy with games and pool table. I was able to take my small chihuahua anywhere even the pool area without anyone saying "you're not allowed to have your dog in here". We setup 2 tents and had enough room to move around, although other sites where small, we got lucky to find spot (24). Each site comes with a picnic table and fire ring, and we had water & electric. We had trees enough to hang a hammock and clothes line. It's an RV park so the place was filled with all kinds of them and we were in awe. My husband and I talked to a few nice people who told us about RV life and we're ready to ditch the tent life and go RV'ing. Kids playground was also very nice. After dusk the place is a ghost town so quiet, no one made noise, we swear people were in bed by 8pm. The cons, not all the staff were friendly but most were. My sister and daughter saw 2 different men at different times come out of the women's bathroom by the office. We alerted staff and they said they would check the cameras, but we don't know what the resolution was 🤔. The majority of folks were not friendly, only a few. The mosquitos weren't as bad BUT THE FREAKIN BITING FLYS WERE HORENDOUS!!!! we went through so many bug repellent sprays for body and area, it was ridiculous! It's true what other reviewers say about the sites being too small and the RV's being close together, but didn't seem like anyone minded. They don't have a camp store but they had a few essentials in the welcome center, ice, wood, bug repellent, and a few other things. Family Dollar, and liquor store are 7 mins away. Walmart and shoprite 15mins away. The bathroom next the volleyball and playground was hot and a little dirty. Only 1 or 2 other families setup tents, again it's an RV site. Over all we liked the place, it was good for us, but the Flys were killing us, and the price was fair. I would come back but with an RV next time to hide from the Flys 🪰 when...
Read moreChestnut lake is one of the nicest campgrounds I've stayed at in the last 8 years of traveling. The area has all types of shopping and if you're willing several malls and assorted grocery stores are within 20 minutes. The park is 30 minutes away from Atlantic City casinos and beaches. ||I read complaints about Too many mosquitoes 🦟 well with all the rain we have had doesn't help the matter. The park sits in a protected wet lands, not unlike so many campgrounds do. People you are camping! Don't like bugs? Stay home! Buy bug spray, purchase a screen room. Stay in the south west with scorpions and snakes, stay in Florida with the bugs and mysterious insects, Virginia has its own special brand of bugs.||As far as being crowded on a holiday weekend, guess you have never been to the jersey shore. People celebrate, campgrounds are perfect get together places. I was staying near the dog run that weekend and no one group was ever too loud or partied past 11 pm.||As far as cleanliness. People are slobs, they leave garbage everywhere they stay. All one needs to do is contact the office and the maintenance crew will get to it. May need to wait for normal working hours.|Septic system? People flush things that should not be flushed. Every public septic system needs to have a station pumped regularly. Every campground uses a pumping company to aid the system.|In conclusion, the staff at this campground go out of their way to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. No reasonable request is ignored. The ladies at the desk are sweethearts, the maintenance crew is out every day doing their best, rangers keep the peace. The manager here is the nicest, kindness, most willing to make a stay as perfect as she can. I have experienced management that never left their office, office staff that bearly said hello, Chestnut lake...
Read moreStaff was very pleasant upon arrival. We were looking for 2 sites together. We were excited to find 2 as soon as we drove in. Within 2 minutes some disrespectful member came running over saying there is a sign saying the site is taken and you need to move. We just moved to avoid an argument but I thought there were no holding sites. Next our friends unhooked and started setting up. When hooking up there sewer hose the sewer started to overflow out of the ground and flowed across the street. Not knowing that this has been an ongoing problem for almost a year they decided to move to another site. That site now had no electric and they had to wait to have them fix that issue. After 2 days in to our stay the plug on our site overheated and fried our cord and our converter to our camper. We got an attitude my maintenance like it was our fault. We submitted a claim and still haven’t heard anything. We spent 75.00 on a new cord, 50.00 on a battery charger so we could run our ac for the remainder of the week and had to order a new converter which was over 200.00. After 6 days we are finally heading home and the sewer on site 183 is overflowing again and all they do is put Lyme on it and let people walk all through it. This is disgusting and a huge health concern. They make it seem like they have no clue what is going on but they do and they neglect to fix it. After this stay I am very disgusted with thousand trails. You pay for a membership thinking they maintain there campgrounds. Instead they are the worst and most poor maintained places I’ve been too. If you decide to stay here all I can say...
