PLEASE READ WHOLE REVIEW! This place not for older handicap people or people who have a hard time walking or kids And NO DOGS ON BEACHES?, 1. Theres no way wheelchairs could get to the beach without someone helping to push them up the long ramp that goes up switches back and goes up to a lookout then back down then a switch back down to straight sand what are they just supposed to crawl a 100 yards to the water No way LOL, (they say this place is handicap accessible so it should have a way for them to get to the water right?), 2. What about regular people now have to walk through this ramp and makes it another 200 plus yards to beach then another 100 to 500 yards either way to get a spot on the beach their's lots of fisherman so sharks are in the area! and most arent even campers here, 3. There use to be a boardwalk that went from Gulf breeze campground to Shady pines campground its gone and now gulf breeze is a day area?? (What!), I hope they plan on rebuilding the boardwalk and Gulf breeze campsites, 4. No where near enough camp sights anymore, shady pines alone had 65+ sights and Gulf breeze is gone, 5. They are making it so florida residents get first dibs on sight reservations?!?!? thats crazy and ridiculous i traveled 500 miles and had to schedule in January to go in August i cant believe i traveled here for this?. 6. Sights have NO SHADE except for what you bring, only good thing is the whole park is well maintained, sites cleaned and reraked before you pull in. Sites could be sprayed for ants, black flys are so bad they bite you through socks!, boat ramp extremely crowded, again with people who aren't camping here, came here to do some scalloping and all the scallops are so far out from locals you definitely need a boat, kayak or paddle bord to get far enough out to get any, fishing is mostly bad catching catfish, bonefish, sharks and stingrays again youll need a boat to get out far enough to catch any kind of good size fish and fishing charters are $400+ for just 4 hours of inshore bay fishing its just terrible in my opinion. I probably wont even be able to come back because just getting a sight for more then 2 days is impossible and no one wants to spend there vacation moving from sight to sight after traveling 500+ miles! Overall everything is over priced, crowded and i wish i had went elsewhere for my vacation but i had a good time camping and speading time with my dad, oh and this place is packed 24/7 and is somehow worse on the weekends. The hurricane completely destroyed this place. Youve been warned? Hope your...

Wonderful beach access to the gulf and bay. Camp grounds were fairly clean in most areas and ho-hum in others, the facilities however were very clean. My only suggestion is bring a camper or tent with AC for the summer. The heat is so intense here that if you come unprepared you could easily end up in heat exhaustion without considering the environment. Park management were really good people, and they cared about the area as far as I could gather. And lastly, the reason for 4 out of 5 stars is.. Cotton Rats and small rodents. I'm not afraid of the rodents, but it does put a damper on the vacation atmosphere, not to mention that you can potentially get fleas and ticks from bedding down near where they are scouring for food sources. We were using a tent so the fear was a little more intense, campers and RV's would probably be able to fend off...

I whould request if you made a reservation and can't make it , please cancel so a spot can open up ! And for the reservation folks if people can not make it and is a no show no call that spot needs to open up your loosing money by not opening up spots . We saw spots open but says it was booked and no one showed up ..maybe better communication between camp host and booking or office . Please dont let kids dig holes if they do cover them back. Leave it as you found it! beautiful! Help Save our coast! The other thing id add please pick up trash on beach if you find it ! We found so many fishing lures and line , beer cans etc... Don't leave your stuff on beach ⛱️ ☂️ 🏖 🌊 unattended! Loved our stay Very nice up grades after hurricane Michael. So glad to be back. Keeping it nice thanks to all the workers...

Amazing nature abounds. The park was closed for over five years after hurricane Michael and has recently reopened. The campground is brand new including the bath houses. I’m not sure what it looks like before the storm, but there are not many trees in the camping area. There’s a nice nature trail that leaves from the campground through the dunes and along the bay. there’s fishing opportunities everywhere. They also have cabins right on the bay that rent for about $100 a night, which is a good deal. We visited in December, which is the off-season for the area and it was very quiet. Highly recommend this campground.
