I have been apprehensive about this trip for the past 4 months…. Good reviews and bad reviews, knowing it was under construction and not knowing what amenities would be available or if I would be awakened by drills and hammering, etc. I hope to be open and honest with people planning a vacation here so they don’t have to worry and wonder as much as I did.||YES! It is under renovations as advertised and some things have been completed and some have not. There are construction materials around the resort and some closed buildings for renovations but there are also very updated and beautiful spaces too. ||Pools - infinity pool and family pool are gorgeous and welcoming. Family pool is near a bar but if you want a drink at the infinity pool, you are going to have to take quite a walk.||Activities - The activities team worked to be involved and create a fun experience. Guest interest varied, so some activities did not take place that were on the schedule. Trivia was fun but then pool volleyball didn’t happen so make sure to have a Plan B. While we did not participate in any of the sports, if you walk around behind the resort, this is where you will find the courts and fields: basketball, pickleball, tennis, soccer. Activities in the terrace area were giant Jenga, two ping pong tables and one Cornhole set.||Food & Beverage - currently there is one buffet style restaurant serving three meals a day and a “quick eats” food truck style spot. We enjoyed all of our meals. The buffet restaurant had different food stations each day to have food made exactly like you like it. Think omelette station, crepe station, noodle station, fajita station, Mac and cheese station. Salads and fruit were nice and fresh. Some of the meats were kind of dry in the buffet, as that tends to happen with buffet style food, but it was still good. Not on the buffet but available is soft serve ice cream! You just have to ask for it at the crepe station. The “food truck” had some great drinks and food. The açaí bowl was def one of my faves. There are three places to get alcoholic drinks - the bar inside the restaurant, the bar outside the restaurant and at the food truck.||-Water Sports by Saltys. We kayaked and enjoyed exploring the coast of the resort. Just be aware that, yes, it is free but you still need a reservation. Get a brochure from the front desk which has the website on it and book through there. Then, at your time head down to the water and they’ll have everything ready. Otherwise, it’s all locked up. Didn’t use, but jet skis looked brand new and the boat for tours and tubing looked a little tired.||-Water Area. Don’t think crystal clear, pristine waters. It’s brown looking. We didn’t go in and go swimming or wading and it didn’t look like anyone else did either while we were there.||-Room. We got the walk out two bedroom room. It was VERY spacious! Could have easily slept six and still not have been crowded. Two twin beds in the front bedroom, two large sofas in living area where there’s also a king bed. The room has 1.5 bathrooms, which was a nice surprise. From the living area, you open your sliding door and you are RIGHT ON THE BEACH! Makes for some nice views and relaxing coffee time in the morning. Shower head was wonderful with great water pressure. TVs were new and nice with lots of channel options. Decor of room was “sterile.” Don’t think all the pops of color you see online with pillows and pictures and blue on the bed. I don’t think they’ve gotten to this yet. Yes, new sofas and new beds and we slept great but with no “beachy” decor it was not very aesthetically pleasing. White walls, white bedding, gray sofa, so decor anywhere. Housekeeping was not consistent on a daily basis and we would have to request items at the front desk - in person - because the phone in the room does not let you call housekeeping or the front desk. It sends you to their corporate center where it’s a recording about making reservations and you just sit on Hold forever waiting for help. So, just walk to the front desk and get it yourself.||Staff. Staff were absolutely wonderful! They learn your preferences and exceed your expectations. We felt waited on pampered by all staff. Everyone was so nice, welcoming, cheery and helpful. We did not see one single person who looked like they didn’t want to be there. We were made to feel like they were glad we were there.||-Fees, just a note that it’s $15 a day to park and a $39.20 daily resort fee.||-Off resort activities. We ventured off the resort a few times and enjoyed PopStroke, which is a mini golf course designed like a PGA Course. It was a lot of fun. We also did an escape room at “Escape Room PSL.” We really enjoyed that, as well. We also hit up a restaurant called “Crabbys,” and they have AYCE crablegs for $65 each Monday night.||Overall, for the discounted rate we paid, it was well worth it for our family of 3. We ate, drank and were merry. Our needs were met and we were well taken care of. With the construction, the resort is pretty empty so you have free rein of everything, an uncrowded pool, no waits at bars or food places and the attention of lots of staff who...

To begin, I want to emphasize that the employees at this resort are wonderful—extremely kind, welcoming, and professional. This review is not a reflection of them, as they were great throughout our stay. However, the overall experience was far from satisfactory.
I understand that the resort is undergoing a "remodel," but based on the condition of the property, it appears that construction has been halted for quite some time. The building being remodeled shows extensive water damage, and the temporary fencing around the site suggests a lack of progress. There are no signs of construction equipment or vehicles, and many buildings are in poor condition—missing shingles, peeling roof lathing, and damaged floors. Even the fitness center has visible water damage, with the floor warped and the drop-down ceiling in disrepair.
We had to change rooms during our stay, though it’s unclear if the move was an improvement. Both rooms were clean, but they had a musty, moldy smell. In the first room, the balcony was peeling, and the view was of a dilapidated building and a courtyard with palm trees surrounded by black mulch and dirt. The second room wasn’t much better. The door frame was rotted, the door didn’t seal properly, and it could be easily opened without a key due to the deteriorated door jamb. Rust or sand came out of the bath and shower faucets, and the water initially ran brown. Additionally, the tub didn’t drain properly, and the sliding doors were extremely difficult to open and close, even for someone of my size. If the room was "newly remodeled," it seems to have only received a fresh coat of paint and new flooring.
The resort no longer has sailboats, and only a few kayaks are available. Jet skis can be rented, but the promotional photos on the website are extremely outdated. Most of the landscaping has been removed, leaving the area looking barren and neglected, as if it had been struck by several hurricanes in quick succession. The volleyball net near the jet ski rental shack has also been inexplicably removed. While the pools looked nice, the sparse landscaping made the surroundings uninviting. The resort has replaced the previously nice lawn furniture with cheap chairs, and there were no umbrellas available to provide shade.
The food left much to be desired. It was presented in a "buffet" style, though calling it that is generous. The quality was slightly better than prison food or on par with military rations. Breakfast was mediocre, with stale hash browns and pastries. While they offered made-to-order omelets and eggs, the fruit was the only highlight—cool and fresh. Lunch was served from a food truck, and dinner offered limited options. The fruit was warm, and you could choose from children’s options like chicken tenders and fries or wait in line for the daily special.
As for activities, there were few available. My wife and I don’t drink or party, so I can’t comment on the bar or drinks. The resort has a couple of ping pong tables, a giant Jenga game, bean bag toss, three pools (one of which is small and closed at the time), one hot tub, a few tennis courts, and volleyball courts located away from the main buildings.
In conclusion, while I understand that the resort is under renovation, it should really be closed during this process. I’ve stayed at resorts undergoing remodels that were 100 times nicer than this. My wife hadn’t been here in over 10 years and had fond memories, but now she’s heartbroken. While this isn’t the most expensive resort, the money we spent would have been better used on a hotel by the beach, even with the added cost of meals. If you’re accustomed to resorts with higher standards, I would advise against coming here. You might get what you pay for, but in this case, you get even less. If the resort remains open in the coming years, perhaps it will be worth...
Read moreFirst let me start by saying I received I a few nights stay here as a present therefor did not pay for the trip. This is making my review a bit more forgiving then I would normally be if I paid the cost of this per night.
When we arrived at the hotel, it was getting very close to my sons bed time. I had called twice to make sure his bed would be in the room so we could get him in and right to sleep after our drive. When we checked in I confirmed again and the gentleman at the front said he would call down to housekeeping and be sure it was there. After being in the room for at least 20 mins with still no bed, we called down to the front to see where it was. Within a minute the man from the front desk brought us one, which we were very grateful for. About 20/30 mins later once we had finally gotten my son to sleep, housekeeping let themselves in our room. The front door was right next to my sons room and let in a lot of light, she was finally bringing the crib and other items for him. I did not appreciate how she just let herself into our room, knowing we were there.
Pros: good location, parking on site with a guard at the gate at all times, the front reception staff was amazing, the homemade chocolate was amazing, the dinning area was nice and clean and had a great outdoor deck with a beautiful view of the water, the fountain drinks, water, coffee, cappuccino and wine were self serve in the dinning area, the one kids pool area was all 2 feet deep which was really nice for my son, there was a daycare/indoor play area for my son.
Cons: While the food selection was nice, I was sick after every single meal. I am not exaggerating, every meal. The hours were a little weird and didn’t work out great with my sons nap schedule, the only other option for food not during the buffet hours was tacos which were not good. They need to offer something better then this at all times, even a grab and go store with snacks. The drinks were well drinks, which also didn’t leave me feeling great. The bartenders were not very friendly. The nighttime vibe wasn’t very exciting, DJ at night but there were a lot of teenagers around. We wanted to invited our friends to have a drink with us but the only option was for them to buy an all day pass, and yet the buffet was not available for them to eat which in the end would cost way to much for horrible well drinks. Our room was a nice set up with our sons room separate from ours, but the room itself wasn’t very updated. We could hear the people upstairs and hear them using the bathroom and when they flushed their toilets the pipes were very loud. Lastly, one night there was music on all night long which kept us awake all night. It wasn’t a song just a beat which was very very annoying and disruptive to sleeping. The next night it happened again and we had to call the front to get it shut off because it was happening again. The kids splash area was moldy and gross, the park area which was great to have had bugs in the sand that left bite marks all over us.
Overall would not recommend staying here, the idea of it is really nice having an all inclusive, but being sick daily from the food and drinks was not worth the stay. We did not spend any time at the pool or doing any water activities in the lake, so I can not speak to...
