Woodland Plantation is absolutely worth visiting and staying a night or more at. Not far from New Orleans yet, you feel you are in the middle of pure Louisiana wilderness. My wife and I really enjoyed our room in the old store building, the five course dinner in the evening and breakfast the next morning. The service is excellent and attentive with wonderful personality. One of our favorite extras was seeing a pond full of baby gators and one large one in the back park of the property. Woodland Plantation is a peaceful retreat from the big city.

Charming, historic place to stay. Main lodge dates back to 1834. Buildings on property a throw back in time and well maintained. The property is well maintained and beautiful. The food, dinner, is insanely good. Had the fish dishes every night. Some of the best I can remember. If/ when come back to the area, will stay here again. Love this place.

Foster and the whole family/crew make Woodland Plantation a fantastic experience. Accommodations, arrangements (fishing)…and food as good as anything you could get 40 miles or so up the road.

We were in town for a company meeting and a few days of fly fishing for RedFish in the Gulf. We chose Woodland Plantation because it was recommended by our guide, and there are so many great things about this place...but also a few negatives.||||First the positives:||||It was 10 minutes from where we put in every day, so it was very hard to beat the location or convenience||The food was amazing, particularly dinner. Multi course extravaganzas that were simple and on point, they don't overdo it with trying to be "fancy", but made great dinners every night||The lodging was about what we expected. These are not luxury accommodations by any means, but they are extremely comfortable...and the beds were great for sleeping.||||Now a few negatives, none of which is enough to make me not want to go, but areas where they could improve:||||The check in/reservation "system" is literally a giant piece of paper with little boxes and small writing...definitely a throw back to another time, no excel spreadsheets or fancy computer systems for the Plantation. While it's a bit charming, it also proved to be a little haphazard and we had to move from one building to another after our first two nights. A minor inconvenience but never something you want to do.||*Due to the way the program is set up, and the fact that many of the people had been to the Plantation many times, there wasn't much interaction with other guests, which was unfortunate. We've been to other fishing lodges where they work at getting the guests to mingle and share fishing stories. Not a major complaint, but it would have been nice to have met some other fisherman to hear about their day.||||Overall, the Woodland Plantation was a wonderful experience. The food was excellent. The rooms were what you'd expect of an older facility (though nicely updated with great Wifi and cell phone coverage), and the fishing, at least the week we were there, was SPECTACULAR. A special shout out to Capt. Pete at Marsh on the Fly for one of the most amazing series...

We held a corporate business meeting/event and the accommodations and meals far exceeded our expectations. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean and well-decorated. We had a small group dinner in the "old church dining hall" on Wednesday night, and it was exceptional for any restaurant, but especially so for a bed-and-breakfast-type property like this one. It was a TRUE 5-course meal with superb selections. I had the ribeye, and it was an excellent piece of meat that was cooked exactly like I ordered it. The waitstaff did a great job, and if I didn't know any better, I would have thought they were a professional waitstaff brought-in from a New Orleans French Quarter restaurant. At 6:00 a.m. the next morning, they had a hot breakfast buffet set-up that included fresh eggs, bacon, sausage and several other hot selections. It was not the typical cold cereal "continental breakfast." For the next 18 months, we will be involved in a construction that is about 5 miles away, and we will definitely stay here several more times. Kudos to the owners and the staff for their work and...
