Great location by the river, very nice in the summertime to stay cool. Next time we will bring or rent some rafts to float on the river! They have pit toilets, no real restrooms or sinks/ running water aside from the outdoor spigots scattered around the sites. People here don't really seem to understand campsite etiquette unfortunately. They played music past 10 pm and we woke up to pitbull playing at 7 am...would have been nice to listen to the river instead. It had stormed a couple days before we went so the water was all mixed up and very brown, I think normally it's a bit clearer. Many campers brought dogs, just be careful in the river.

Just got back from a 2 night stay at this campground. I highly recommend this place! It’s well kept and the rangers are SUPER nice. The river is about 50 feet from the site. Sequoia trees are just an hours drive from there as well. Tip: some spots don’t have shade so you should bring some cover because it does get warm. I’ll definitely be going back again!

Great fun for the entire family, remember to book in advance due to overcrowding and this location being one of the best to swim and enjoy your trip. River rafting as well as inner tubing are a walk away as well as country store for an awesome breakfast 🍳 Truly not to be missed. Save travels 🙏🏼🤙🏽🦋🐛🐥🙂⭐️🦔

Camped here over this past weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday and had a great time. The camp sites were spacious and there was plenty of room for my huge tent and screen room along with the other guys' tent. The sites are a 3-minute walk from the river where you can fish and hunt crawfish (or crawdads depending where you're from). When staying here I would recommend reserving a site that is riverside so won't need to worry about walking through someone else's site. (Sites 23, 25, and 27 are excellent choices)

Site management (Tony and his mother) are vigilant about enforcing the rules and regularly patrol the grounds in their golf cart. They keep the grounds nice and the noise level to a minimum. It would also behoove you to mind the fire rules as the fines for disobeying them are steep.

The bathrooms appeared to have been cleaned every morning and were best to use early. They were clean and also spacious, however there was no ventilation in the stall I used to it felt like a sauna.

The closest thing to a negative I can say about this this site is that there weren't any showers (that we knew of). That really wasn't that big of a deal though since we spent most of the 3-day trip in and around the river which kept the "funk" down.

Other less than desirable things; be prepared to fight the yellow jackets for your food, don't expect to sleep in past about 8:00 AM (sun comes up over the mountain and into your tent), it can get REALLY windy at times so you'll need to stake your gear down firm.

All and all, this was a great camp site and a very pleasurable experience. We were able to have a lot of fun without too much concern with bad neighbors or rough nature.

This will be my go-to location for camping whenever I take whitewater...

Careful at campsite 3 I was just there 7.1.16 til 7.5.16. the people who work there steal your camping equipment and food. They will scam you. Then work together to not get anyone in trouble. We are not the first people to have an issue at the campsite 3.The person who was in charge of campsite 3 was drunk and late for work as in days late for work. The restrooms full of crap on the seat, we had to be ask her, for her to clean them. Then this woman yells 1am for mandatory evacuation do to Lake Isabella fire which is far away. We come back next day to all three of my camp ground rumageged through and many things taken. Very unhappy and disappointed also the local sheriff's in on it. They send their buddy Deputy Ryan who is lazy at work but not to workout and doesn't even carry his business cards on him. He states he can't help me but writes down what was written from the incident report the campsite people wrote. I have been here a few times perhaps it will be the last or next time I will video tape it all. The people who run CAMPSITE 3 are thieves...

I've been camping here for over 20 years and love kern river. I'm writing this review specifically for the amazing camp hosts this year whom i call the double "k's". The bathrooms were cleaner than I've seen in the past as well as the campground was clean and well maintained. The dirt was grated around our fire pit and the hosts sell bundles of firewood. To top it off, the hosts are SUPER friendly and you can tell they truly enjoy their job. As it was almost 4th of July, they even came around and placed flags in the poles of each site. We hope to see them back again next year.

PS Thank you for also cleaning the graffiti off multiple surfaces around the campground. I seriously can not believe the amount of disrespect some people have for our forests/planet. These ignoramuses should stay home and paint their own room or their parents for not teaching them right from wrong. No one wants to see your stupidity posted on the wall, best just...
