Nice resort/lodge with very nice architecture. Friendly staff and the prices are reasonable. The restaurant at the resort clubhouse is beautiful and the food is reasonably priced and very good quality. The only downside is the fact that the lodge is a good walk or or very short drive down the hill from the restaurant, pool, spa etc. but the new facility will be closer a bit. Also the lodge has no laundry and if you are staying for several days to enjoy the outdoors like we did rather than golf then you end up with a lot of dirty clothes. One of the worst parts was the WIFI was next to unusable due to how slow it was although there is cell signal in range. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning when the new rec center facility is open.

It's a beautiful location up in the mountains. We just needed to stay overnight to go to the Western Pacific Railroad Museum. The room is nothing special, and in fact it needs sprucing up and new curtains would help. There are some maintenance issues on the property and they should be addressed. To call this a resort is a stretch and as such is overpriced for what you receive. We only stayed here because there were no other rooms close by. I might stay here again in the "off season" when prices are more reasonable.

We want to thank the Owners for the remarkable experience we had at Greenhorn Ranch this past week. Resort style summer camp!! From reading reviews, we were aware of the special qualities and amenities of the ranch before we arrived but were delighted by the warm and friendly treatment we received from the staff, the excellent cuisine, the stately lodge with huge stone fireplace and the gorgeous surroundings.||The staff was helpful, knowledgeable and competent. We were immediately impressed by your Director of Activities Jacob Walke, who we soon came to consider a friend. Enhanced by his academic background in the field of recreation and in-depth study of native horticulture, was his magnetic personality and gift of truly caring about our personal interests and what would make us happy 😊 ||We promised Jacob that we would return with our extended family as soon as we could! We were reassured that Zeke Aubrey, the Range Master, was extremely qualified and we enjoyed interesting conversations with him. High end Chef Jamie West was a treasure, creating the most delicious meals and quick to offer mouth watering freshly baked cookies to the guests to take with them to their cabin. Meal times were a treat and something we looked forward to. And Joe, wrangler and storyteller who is somewhat of a legend at the ranch, left us with memories of sitting around the bonfire while he played guitar and sang of the cowboys of the past. Our time filled with activities such as riding the trails on horseback, fly fishing, E-bike riding in the forest, shooting skeet and making new friends was balanced with serenity and relaxation. Cocktails before dinner with total immersion into the beauty and peace of the pines and mountains is unparalleled. We will be back!||Laurie and...

Umm. Switch & bait is my first thought for this place. Went booking their front page web site (even for the lodge) showed a photo of a great open building with a large pool -- THIS IS NOT THE LODGE. The lodge does NOT have a swimming pool at the lodge -- the swimming pool is located across a highway and up a hill that is part of the 'resort' that is actually the homeowners amenity that you will have access. ALSO, the 'forest' view rooms are views of the parking lot with trees in the near distance. The Lodge is on a HIGHWAY. The rooms are (I believe IMHO) a restored motel because the sink is outside the bathroom, the shower turn on is located on the wrong side of the shower entry door so you WILL get blasted with cold water turning it on; the towels rack and hanger are located so that it's a problem getting your towel; there will holes in the curtain backing; the shower stall had ill-cut tiles and thus had mold; the curtain rod was not able to hold the curtains as they fall off the end of the rod --- I could go on but why because you should get the picture by now. HOWEVER, I will say that if you popped for one of the resorts houses they sell then you might be happy with the arrangement. Having said all that--this was close to one of the better places to stay but at a too high price for what you get. BEST is to move on to Reno, Truckee or your...

This property is stunning and the rooms were clean, but unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by how we were treated. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it, especially with so many better-priced options nearby.

At check-in, the front desk agent offered to upgrade our room. We were excited and at no point were we told this would come with an additional charge. At checkout, I noticed we were charged $1,000 more than what Expedia had quoted, and the final invoice was sent directly to Expedia instead of us.

When I followed up, the hotel initially admitted it was an error and promised to fix it. Several days passed with no update. I called multiple times with no response. Eventually, they returned my call and said the extra charge was for the upgrade — which we were never informed would cost more. We absolutely would have declined if we had known.

Since then, I’ve tried contacting the hotel repeatedly, but my calls and messages have been ignored. It’s incredibly disappointing to be misled and then ghosted, especially by a place that otherwise has so much potential.

We’ve been coming to this area for years and always loved it, but after this experience, we’ll be taking our business...
