We were just at the Shawnee state park on the ohio river. 1st time there . We absolutely loved it. We will be back next next year. My husband is oxygen dependent so we took advantage of the splash pad . It made it easier for him to cool down and feel like he was being a part of something. He would take his oxygen off long enough to get wet and sit back on his scooter for bit with his oxygen again till he got his breath and then he stand under the bucket drop again . Would love to see a pool put in . There is alot of potential and space . Looked like they were putting a parking lot in by the playground. But plenty of space for a pool . This has become a...

This was our first time camping at the river campground and we loved it! There is plenty of places to walk, close to the river and marina, bike trails, splash pad, and trails. There are traces of the old golf course, which I like, and the former golf shop is now the camp store. It's stocked with the necessities and a few extras. Perry's ice cream is available there by the pine or hand dipped. There is a really nice dog park for the fur babies and a Storybook Trail for the 2 legged ones. The camping spits are pretty open, not much privacy, but still very nice. All sites at this campground are full hookups. We look forward to...

Large, full hook up campsites. Not crowded together the way full service sites are in some campgrounds. Water and sewer available even in March. Reported to be available year round. I can only confirm availability in March when I camped. The pull through sites are very long. Picnic tables are secured to the cement pads. This disappointed one reviewer but I am fine with it. Meant I didn't need to retrieve my picnic from another site where someone moved it and didn't return it! In March only the family shower/comfort stations were open which was sufficient....

The park was a very nice park for camping. The splash pad for kids and the dog park was a huge plus! The only thing that needs to be upgraded is the parking. There is one playground and no good way to get to it. It is far from the camper for a young child to walk and the parking is still pretty far from the playground for young children. They need to add parking closer to the playgrounds or a playground closer to the campsites. The playground is behind the store. Between the store and playground is the splash pad. You can’t even see the playground from the parking area.

We normally camp at the campground down the road and we were originally scheduled to camp there. When we arrived they were paving our sites and we had a group of 4 different campers that had to move. So, we were moved to this campground. Loved it! They have done great job building this campground. Another added bonus there’s actually cell service at this location unlike the campground up the hill. Not many trees but they have a bunch planted to create shade in the future.
