We were just at the Shawnee state park on the ohio river. 1st time there . We absolutely loved it. We will be back next next year. My husband is oxygen dependent so we took advantage of the splash pad . It made it easier for him to cool down and feel like he was being a part of something. He would take his oxygen off long enough to get wet and sit back on his scooter for bit with his oxygen again till he got his breath and then he stand under the bucket drop again . Read moreThis was our first time camping at the river campground and we loved it! There is plenty of places to walk, close to the river and marina, bike trails, splash pad, and trails. There are traces of the old golf course, which I like, and the former golf shop is now the camp store. It's stocked with the necessities and a few extras. Perry's ice cream is available there by the pine or hand dipped. There is a really nice dog park for the fur babies and a Storybook Trail for the 2 legged ones. Read moreLarge, full hook up campsites. Not crowded together the way full service sites are in some campgrounds. Water and sewer available even in March. Reported to be available year round. I can only confirm availability in March when I camped. The pull through sites are very long. Picnic tables are secured to the cement pads. This disappointed one reviewer but I am fine with it. Meant I didn't need to retrieve my picnic from another site where someone moved it and didn't return it! In March only the family shower/comfort stations were open which was sufficient....
