Our home away from home. We love this place because it’s so family friendly! Deff recommend if your looking for a place to camp in Connecticut 😍💚

This was our first time camping (ever) and Hidden Acres has set the bar incredibly high for every other camping resort going forward. We had a site (recommended by the staff at the front desk by the way...) that was literally riverside with it's own little rock pool to chill out in 🙂 they welcomed our (well behaved) dog and the other dogs there were equally well behaved. The water temp was lovely, the breakfast was delicious AND affordable and there are peacocks just strutting around like they own the place 🙂 The other campers were nice, the staff was 100% amazing and the campground is squeaky clean. Trash is picked up everyday, the showers are clean and the hot water feels great after swimming and running around. The showers require quarters but 50 cent will get you about 10 minutes or more so it's not a big issue. We didn't do the tubing but lots of people did. Like I said this was our first time camping and the campground and the staff made us fall in love with camping. So much so that we tried to reserve labor day weekend before leaving but they had no sites available. We're going to plan an annual trip to hidden acres because they are worth it. *Update 1 year later* We came back and every wonderful thing about the campground mentioned above was exactly the same. Hidden Acres is WORTH the visit. The river is beautiful.

This campground is phenomenal. We're a military family, and any time we're stationed in Groton, we try to spend as many summer weekends as we can at Hidden Acres. They have tons of games and activities for children planned throughout the day, a hayride, a fantastic playground for the littles, a swimming pool, a fishing pond, the river, arcade games, a pool table, horseshoes (and other outdoor games), a craft shop that's open in the evenings where kids can get small ceramic trinkets and paint them, and beautiful grounds that are clean and safe. Their restaurant, Peggy's Place, is one of the best campground restaurants I've ever seen. We'll get there on a Friday afternoon, and I barely see my kid till we leave on Sunday. when he comes in each night he's usually dirty and tired, and very happy, which I love. If you're looking for a safe and VERY family oriented campground, then I highly recommend this place. If you're looking for a place to get drunk with all your friends and be obnoxious, then you need to go elsewhere, because this is NOT the place to do it. We just love this place, and we're so thankful we found it.

Very disappointed in this place. We had read over the website before visiting to be sure we wanted to check this place out before we took a ride up to pick out some sites for tent camping. We drove up 2+ hours and finally arrived. When we walked into the office, an older heavy-set woman called us over and asked how she could help us. We stated we were looking to do some tent camping during August and we are interested in looking around/possibly booking. The first thing out of the woman's mouth was "this is not a party campground." Uhh, okay? Thanks? Was what I thought in my head. It was clear that because we are in our early 30's she must have assumed we are "party people". Extremely unprofessional and disappointing. Regardless of this, we inquired about the dates we are looking to camp. She flips through the book, shaking her head, stating she is sure it is already full and nothing is available as there is a holiday called "VJ" going on that week. She begins telling us all of the weekends are full. I stated we are not looking for weekend dates, we want Monday through Friday. Looks through her book, shakes her head, "Yea.. we are pretty booked." It was very clear she did not want our business. We then proceed to ask her about the pet requirements. She states: "Well, we don't allow rotweilers or pitbulls". Fine, no problem. One of our dogs is a pit bull and we understood so we decided to go elsewhere. Which we would have anyway since the service was so poor and also simply because of the fact that she made us clearly feel unwelcome. We go out to the car where one of our friends was standing with the dog. We literally JUST got to our friend and then a young girl runs out of the office and yells to us "You need to put the dog in the car!" Really? We just got to our friend, can you give us 1 second to actually verbally communicate this to him before running out, waving your arms and yelling at us? We are SEASONED campers.. we have been going since childhood and the way this staff member treated us was unacceptable. The customer service was terrible and they made us feel judged and unwelcome. Would never go here or recommend this place to anyone and will be letting others that I know how we were treated so they will not have such an...

The campground is meticulously maintained in all aspects. You will see crews of workers constantly working on the grounds and cleaning the facilities. Cleanliness is one of the first things I look for in a campground and hidden acres goes way beyond most.

The daily tractor rides, yard games and craft shop meant that my kids always had something to keep them entertained as well.

Most importantly was the experience. I had a problem with my trailer hitch. To make a long story short, the bolts on my hitch had shifted and made it nearly impossible to tow my rv home. I flagged down an employee to see if he had ever seen anything like this before... he told me he hadn’t, and that he didn’t think i should even try to bring it home like that. I explained that I was checking out in an hour, and didn’t really have any options. Without hesitation, he told me to bring the hitch to the entrance of the campground where they had a maintenance garage. He offered to fix the problem for me. NEVER HESITATED.... just saw someone that needed help and was more than willing to help out. Never even mentioned charging me. I offered to pay and he responded “For what”?

I found out later this man who helped me out was Bill. He is an owner. And Bill will have a customer for life. I cannot even begin to express the level of gratitude i have. I already had a fantastic experience at the campground, and this was the icing on the cake.

If you can, get a riverfront site. The view is...

Loved this park. Had "prime" site #12 right on the River. Thou it did not have electricity or water there was a spout with fresh cool water 2 sites away and a male or female bathroom right next to it. Thou they have to be leashed, there was pleanty of room to roam around the campsite and often I left Lady unleashed ( so long as your pup doesn't rush off and wander other campsites).

The river was BEAUTIFUL !! It was very shallow our two days there and deeper our third day. The two days we were able to actually walk along the river ( up to our knees at its deepest ) and fish from rocks in the center of the river. My cocker Spaniel loved her first "swim" in the river EVER !! Dogs are allowed to swim free in the river and were able to walk along the rocks as well. Tubers were able to walk up to the top of the campsite and tube down the river. We caught sunfish and rock bass two days in a row.

There were fun things to do, thou a little limited. There were hayrides and fire truck rides. There was a great ceramics area where we were able to purchase a figurine for a minimal price and you could return to the ceramics shop as often as you wanted to complete the figure. There were a few arcade games, pool tables and things to do.

The site itself was very clean. The showers were nicely sorted with three showers in each house as well as to toilets. They were all very clean and easily acessable to all areas of the camp. Such a...
