The farmstead experience was as advertised. We loved the rustic accommodations with the singing frogs and the waves to put you to sleep. The bed was very comfortable and we slept soundly. The air conditioning also a plus. Our first night was interesting as we arrived in the dark. Kevin gave us directions and the door code about four hours before we arrived. First thing we did was turn the light switch on and it didn’t work. We soon realized that the place has some high tech remotes for the lights and fans in each room. The place had a smart TV and had a lot of selection depend on your knowledge of all the apps loaded on it. Our first day was exploring the farmstead. First to greet us was a chocolate lab. He was such a joy and went with us on our beach walks. The pool was very nice and we went in it a fair amount. Kevin gave us a good grocery store to get our food for our 5 day stay. It was only 20 min away. Prices were not to bad. There was a gas station just within walking distance. It was also a confectionery and had lots of stuff but be prepared to pay more for it. The turkey could be heard in the morning. We checked out the farm and there was star fruit in season and I enjoyed picking and eating it. The farmstead has so many interesting areas. We loved the solitude sitting under the coconut trees watching the waves crash on the shore. We walked the beach each morning probably a km in each direction. Depending on the tide the shoreline was nice sand and rock areas. To the right a corral reef half way down cut the waves and if you wanted to swim you could without getting pulled out.|To the left the beach was rock or sand dependant on the tide. The walk ends up at a fresh water pool and a river about 20 ft across, |The beach is rustic and we saw very few people. It’s not a cleaned beach and you never know what gets washed up. We went on a few adventures in the area. We love snorkeling and would do more if there again |We found the farmstead was like a diamond in the rough and we would go there again...
Read moreFinca Corsica is a diamond in the rough. Our room, Garza, was spacious and comfortable. The air conditioning in the bedroom coupled with the ceiling fan made for pleasant sleeping. It came with a full kitchen and a private patio with an umbrella. We had our own grill and there is an outdoor kitchen also for any guest that wants to use it.||The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. The sound of the ocean and the coquis lulled us to sleep each night. There is a primitive beach at the edge of the large field. You can walk to the end where there are tidepools if you want to take a dip. Brownie, the farm dog, was a wonderful companion throughout our stay.||As to improvements, I like Finca Corsica as it is but have a few suggestions: |1. Add 3 more chaise lounges by the pool for a total of 6 loungers. As of this writing there are only 3, which isn't enough. |2. Add some chairs along the edge of the field for easy ocean viewing.|3. SKIM THE POOL OR LEAVE A SKIMMER FOR GUESTS TO USE! This was my biggest pet peeve. The water quality in the pool was fine but there were tiny bugs floating on the surface and it's apparent that no one ever skims the pool. Do better!|4. The owner should make a point to meet each guest personally. During our stay we never once saw him.||Other than the above criticisms, we adored Finca Corsica and loved its wild and authentic vibe. This place may not be for everyone but if you're looking for peace and quiet and to see authentic Puerto Rico, this is an excellent place to stay. Brownie, the dog really added to our visit. I miss him as I write this.||We will definitely return to Finca Corsica because it is a unique place in the...
Read moreTruly excellent little getaway. It has the feeling of being off the beaten path because of the depth of the farm and the seclusion of the beach cove. But it’s readily accessible by major roads. The proprietor, Kevin, is kind and welcoming. The lodgings and common areas are well maintained and pretty and full of lush vegetation that is well designed but un-fussy and still a little wild The general atmosphere radiates tranquility. The beach is of the rocky variety but there are certainly enough sandy patches to lounge upon, especially considering how isolated it is. We hardly ever saw anyone else on the beach. If you’re interested in fishing, there are plenty to be caught from the beach. Squid worked great as chunk bait and an SP Minnow lure was successful for a fantastic Crevalle Jack fight. Sashimi and ceviche and fried fish were enjoyed while gazing at the ocean from which they’d been retrieved moments earlier. Hot water was inconsistent; we didn’t care at all, but it’s worth mentioning in case that’s important to you. We can’t wait to return and had a fantastic...
