Longterm visitor area = LVTA. This place is one of the cheapest dry-camping areas ever. 14 days cost $40 or from September to mid-April $180. Yes, it is just a big area in the desert without hook-ups, but here one can stay in one place for 6 month unlike on most public lands. The longest stay time on other public lands is 14 days or less, before one has to move at least 25 miles down the road.... Here a waterfill station, a few trash drop off containers and a dumpstation plus a few vault toilets are included. To us the community is the biggest thing here. We come to meet our fellow nomad friends here every year. I think, the willingness to help each other, have a good time plus the informality aka anyone is welcome plus you participate, if you like or stay home when you do not want to is the best part. Also there is probably an intrest group for anyone in one of the LVTA's or the free camping areas around Quartzsite. A few of the downfall are: 1. that it gets so crowded in the area (no not like in an RV park, we are still all way more spread out) in January, that no matter what cell service you use, you get lots of bars, but can not send any data from about 10 am until midnight. There are just too many users here!!! The town goes from 3300 to around 1/2 million desert dwellers. 2. It can get very windy since we are in the La Posa Plain and are surrounded by mountains at a distance. 3. There are only two smaller grocery stores, Roadrunner and Coyote Fresh, in town aka the prices are higher. The next real grocery stores are in Blythe, CA 25 miles away - Albertsons, Smart + Final plus the Blythe Ranch Market (a big Hispanic market) or in Parker,AZ 36 miles away - a small Walmart (always picked over at the busiest time of the year), Safeway and Food City. Quartzsite also has a Family Dollar and a Dollar General plus during the winter season Ken's discount grocery plus Quartzsite Grocery & Drug. Both of these are places where you can find overstock items, they are cheap, great for packaged foods (canned, boxed etc) and the Grocery & Drug also carries some fruit/vegetables plus bakery items, but if you are looking for specific brands etc you will have go to either the 2 small regular grocery stores or to Blythe...

One word of caution not specific to BLM someone might be using a Card skimmer around Quartzite I haven't figured out what store I was in yet but someone might have read one of my credit cards while in my wallet and tried to charge a bunch of stuff! Probably when I was at Tyson Wells shopping they tried On Xmas day!! If it wasn't read with a RFID scanner the only business I handed the card to physically in the last 6 months was the now former BCM MAIL, It seemed like a shady place! I guess Karma finally caught up with them. I don't use the card much. If I find out it was the one mail service I used now permanently closed! Just be careful. there are lots of shady people out there That are out to rob people anyway they can . A lot of people come and go from this area. Not everyone is your friend. If you see unknown charges from CASHSTAR STARBUCKS or GREATERGOOD.COM SEATTLE WAUS your card information was stolen. One other thing to mention there are Snitches trying to make friends with the Staff I won't Go into what happened just that I was in a jam with my vehicle I did what I had to do not to lose it! Someone went to the office and lied not knowing the situation I was in just to try and get Brownie points! If you see someone having an issue offer to help and find out what happened don't just run to the office with little information, I had to explain myself unnecessarily because of this person. Other than that enjoy yourself and keep an eye out for the...

If your a snow bird then this is the perfect motorhome village with the perfect 70 to 80 degree day time weather in the middle of winter. Witch is why I came here from: The cold as can be with snow everywhere salt lake city, Utah. But this town is absolutely the most boring place on earth so bring your ATV's, dune buggies or go blow stuff up cause their really isn't much else to do with their 2 gas stations, 1 fast food restaurant and nothing but motor homes for miles and miles. But weed is legal so if you get too terribly bored take a 30 min car ride to Blythe and go to the dispensary. No dispensaries in Coartsite yet cause it's only been legal for about 4 months. Coartsite also has this unusual style of golf course the locals made where your hole you have to put it in is 4 feet wide. Wrap this up by making sure your done and gone with coartsite before the heat waves of summer cause it gets hotter then...

Great level, wide open desert where you can be as close or a far too you friends &/or neighbor campers. People camp bets in anything from a tent, car, van, rvs and everything up to half a million dollar set ups. Everyone leaves you alone unless you want company & they're plenty of people to talk to. Quite hrs are like ever government land being 10pm, but some groups you'll hear doing music or karaoke till nearly midnight every week, so chose your camp site accordingly. If they're a sign made for a camp area, it's probably going to be loud so pick accordingly. There are lots of fun circles you can hear at different times which is usually near a they're typically respectful & stop by 10. We've camper here 2 seasons, not the whole season, but always had fun & enjoyed the dark skies & stars.

Please read all of this. Our second time here, it’s a large area of wilderness to camp in. They do have restrooms at the entrance but, no showers. Potable water and dumping are available. Please be aware and clean the spigots before use. We’ve seen people putting their mouths on their hoses to blow out water, a dead rat on the ground in water people drag their drinking hoses through and today a lady letting her dog slobber all over one. Thank God the rangers were there, she went off on us, she got lippy with them about it too. Clean the nozzle for your heath. It’s very dusty and dry with many ATV’s exploring the area. Lots of pets too that are leashed and gratefully not much barking. The views are excellent. extremely busy at this time of events occurring.
