My initial reaction was that the campsite and area were absolutely beautiful, we settled in, explored a little, and then got ready to lay down for the night.
There were lots of people who were letting their kids run around pretty late and riding dirt bikes past the campsites. I understand this of course, kids will be kids.
Then the wind set in. It felt like our tent was going to snap in half the entire night, super bad wind. Hence the name “Sand” Hollow, there was sand flying into the tent every time the wind blew, we constantly had sand in our eyes and faces.
There was also a ton of vehicle noise and light coming off of the highway. I’m sure if you were in a campsite a little further back, this wouldn’t be as much of an issue.
There were wasps making nests inside of benches and handicap signs, which was very scary lol.
There were also quite a few people walking around past 11/12am shining their flashlights and headlamps into others tents and walking through other people’s sites, which was pretty creepy in the middle of the night.
Like I said, it was a beautiful place but just very weird activity and lots of noise. Every other review was great, and left out any bad things. Maybe we picked a bad day or got unlucky or something lol. Again, the place was beautiful and had close bathrooms, trash cans near as well, but just some things to...
Read moreDecent place to go for playing in some water. No cover over campgrounds yet, not even trees, but it looks like they're in the process of installing some. I didn't camp but just played for the day. The campgrounds seem very small, including the cleared patch for your tent. Also, the campgrounds are really close together. However, the place looks well-maintained and in decent shape. They accept campground reservations for up to 5 consecutive nights or you can take a chance and show up without a reservation and get a campground if there's any available. Either way, it is $15/night which seems really steep to me considering how little they offer there. There does not appear to be anyone there to enforce this fee so it's on a trust system but there is a box there for you to put the money in. All in all, a fun, little place for a quick stop-over or just a night or two. Personally, I wouldn't stay...
Read moreI thought that the freeway noise would not be an issue and that maybe other reviewer‘s were putting too much emphasis on that, but upon camping here for two nights it really does take away from the absolutely beautiful location and the very well-kept campsite area. Another issue is there’s no potable water source and I found that kind of interesting especially because each campsite has a well taken care of table and fire pit and tent area. You can get access to the swimming water easily and there’s a little grocery store just over the bridge west where u can get supplies. It is central to the whole eastern Washington area but again that freeway noise really put a damper in the peaceful outdoor camping trip we...
