A beautiful quiet little campground by the River Raisin in the southeastern Michigan countryside. I came up for Memorial Day Weekend to tour the Detroit area and enjoy the quiet and serenity of camping in the evening. This campground was about 50 minutes from Downtown Detroit, so not too far. It's small, with just a few campsites. They also had canoes and kayaks for rent. I had to pass this time, as I was too worn out from my long jogs and time in the sun on the River Walk and on Belle Isle. The lady working at the desk was nice and I enjoyed chatting with her. They were kind enough to open the front gate early on the day I left. They had an outhouse only (no bathhouse), but no worries for just a couple days. Just heat some hot water and bring your washcloth or go jump in a lake (or Detroit River like I did), haha.

Amazing fun time! Sites are primitive only but such an amazing hidden gem. Was a fun date weekend with just the hubs and I - we took their half day canoeing and a camping spot and enjoyed all of it. They have bathrooms. No showers though. But for a weekend it was good. (Brought shower wipes) there was a volley ball net. A huge grass area. A small playground. A picnic area. They rent canoes and kayaks either by the hour or half and day drop offs. They allow one dog per site. Great for kids too. If you have more than 4 people I'd suggest 2 sites next to each other

Some friends rented the facility and we had a great time. we enjoyed canoeing kayaking and paddle boating and playing horseshoes and other games. All were included with the rental. There's a large covered area with several picnic tables/benches and a place to get out of the rain if you should get hit by a sudden shower or need to get out of the sun but bring cushions/chairs if wooden benches bother you. There's a honey bucket and an outhouse if you need a place to go or change and you can drive right up to the picnic area to drop people/things off. Be aware the area near the dock/bank can get really slick and easily take you down. Extra caution...

Very friendly family staff. Very knowledgeable about the river and concerned for everyone's safety. Kayaks are well maintained. Has a beautiful landing area with a pavilion that you can have lunch/dinner at before or after your trip. Did the half day trip and enjoyed it very much. River was high at the time of my trip and the current was still slow. Had a couple beginner teen kayakers and was confident they could manage the river even with it being high and possibility of running into trees.

Staff would also hold your keys sitting your trip in the office.

Would recommend this place highly and look forward to...
