Not for those with allergies. But if you need a cheap place to stay... We did our yearly excursion to Knoebels. Since I can't distance drive at night, we always get a room about 20 minutes away. There are decent hotels right off of I 80 but you have to drive to them. That's where we usually stay. This time, being more budget conscious, I decided to try this place. 8 minutes from the park - a shower and a bed. What else do we need? I paid $75 plus hotel tax plus $10 for a rollaway bed. First, the exterior is pretty run down. Weeds growing around, cracked and broken sidewalks, an abandoned basketball net in the grass and lots of liquor advertising signs all over the front. The roof of the place looks like it has black all around it and issues. The lobby was hot when we arrived that night. No air conditioning and the exterior doors to the lobby are manual and were broken. The AC in the room was fine. All this is a "yeah, whaddya get for $75". The room itself looked fine, but it smelled horrible. This was supposed to be non smoking and it reeked of old cigarette smoke and tons of air fresheners. The rollaway bed had hair on it so my son covered it in towels and slept on it anyway. There was no soap in the bathroom at all, just a very small half tube of body wash and a half tube of shampoo. There was mold on the shower curtain, rod and on the upper tiles as you can see in the photo. The room itself looked clean; except for this, but it did not smell clean. The linens appeared to be clean and very white as did the towels. But by morning we had headaches from the room odor. In the morning, we went to the lobby and it was really hot and smelled very very powerfully of aerosol air freshener. The breakfast area was too hot to stay and eat in and consisted of cereal, danishes, bagels and some waffles for the toaster. The kids did not want to stay and eat there because of the smell and heat so we left and went to Dunkin about five miles west of there. Honestly, this is a rural area and you aren't going to find anything better unless you want to camp at Knoebels or rent a cottage. I would not recommend staying here for more than a night and you'll have to decide if the price is worth it. We pay about $110 a night in Danville for the Best Western or the other bigger hotel that is there and it includes full continental breakfast; eggs, sausage, waffles etc, plus a pool. Yeah, it's a long drive from Knoebels but for an extra 12 or 15 minutes, worth it. So for a family, honestly, we probably broke even since we would have gotten a decent breakfast out of it. This motel is all about location and that's about it. But if you need a place to crash after Knoebels, this might be okay for you. The beds were SUPER soft and very comfortable. The TV worked fine and was a...
Read moreDo Not Stay Here!!! Everything I laid eyes on needed to be wiped down...including the glass entrance doors and handles. I think the owners use the corner room next to the service counter as living quarters because I could hear children and a tv on while I was waiting for someone to show up. Check-in wasn't too complicated save for the use of dated equipment. I finally went to my room after an 8 hour drive and just wanted to relax and get some work done. NOT!! As soon as I opened my door, I was assaulted by the strongest smell of cigarette smoke!! I should have run from this place screaming, but I really needed to get some work done asap for the next days job, this was the only chain of hotel closest to my job site and it was already 9:30 in the evening. Some things I noticed in my room during the one night stay was how uncomfortable the bed looked. It was like sleeping on a box spring. The blankets weren't blankets at all, but rather thin covers (I slept on top of everything). The towels were all frayed and dingy, the furniture was stained from who knows what, the shower curtain was moldy, there were visible cobwebs in the ceiling corners, there was a considerable amount of dust in the corners where the vacuum couldn't reach (should have used the extension piece) and the microwave kept beeping the entire night (I would have unplugged it but to reach to get the cord would have meant sacrificing my arm to whatever lurked behind the dresser). The air conditioner did not work properly and there were no extra outlets to be able to plug in my laptop or charge my phone (thankfully I had a powercell). This place was a nightmare! So I called a B&B for the second nights stay and left early the next morning!! As I was checking out...I was curious to see what the quality of the comp breakfast was. It was so disappointing...I noticed milk and juice out on the counter with no ice or cooling to keep it to temp, I seen frozen waffles in the bread box, some pastries, and no fruit of any sort. This place should have been charging much lower prices. The parking lot was almost empty...this was a huge red flag. Stay here at your own risk...you have...
Read moreI'd give it zero stars if I could. The man at the front desk was snotty and acted like we were an inconvenience to him. I used to stay in this hotel a lot going to Knoebels as a kid, and it was never horrible. It's gone way downhill. I booked for 6/28/21. The total price was $92.65 for 4 people in a room for one night. Not bad, but I ALSO had to shove out another $100 for a security deposit (understandable, I'd get it back). Upon entering, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, or bad, but the room wasn't the CLEANEST; smoke stained ceilings, small stains on the bathroom walls, etc, but not a HUGE issue. We are okay until about an hour and a half into our stay when one of our friends sees bed bugs. We took pictures, and even brought the front desk man to the room to see them. He completely brushed it off, blamed it on "previous customers," that "nobody else was having this issue," and refused to give us a full refund on our room. It doesn't matter if anyone else had the issue. The point is there were bed bugs and if others aren't having these issues YET guaranteed they can and will overtime, and it takes thousands of dollars to even hope to get rid of them for good. We did NOT want to finish our stay and take them home with us. He THEN stated that if we would have just said we "didn't like the room" that he would have given us the full refund. So, they'll refund if it isn't up to someone's standards, but not for BED BUGS?... I have since contacted the Red Lion Hotels company (who they are affiliated with and operate through) to try to get the rest of my money back. This is absolutely unacceptable. Do NOT go here. Absolutely DO. NOT. I will update when and if I get my other $92.65 back. Waiting on the...
