What once was a thriving summer campground, full of kids, campfires, fishing and pool fun has now become a workman’s camp where residents leave at 5am and come home at 7pm, thanks to a new Toyota factory being built nearby. The residents are mostly construction folks who live in their RVs. This is a new dynamic for the owners. Rather than organizing bonfires for the campers and ready the store for families looking for a snow cone, the fire pit has become overgrown since there’s nobody who would want to partake in a fire, and the shelf items in the store are stagnant (with food items being quite out of date). Also, with the per diem workers making a big paycheck, the rate for a site has gone up too. Most spots are shaded or partially shaded, and most have full hookups. Some sites are VERY unlevel, but the staff is happy to bring over a loader scoop of gravel to fill in the low spots, cinderblocks, or whatever else will help you get set up. Cable TV/internet is available for purchase at the local Spectrum store in town. There IS free wifi available, but the signal is only in the main store area. AT&T gets 2 bars (out of four), T-Mobile gets 2 bars, and Verizon gets 2 bars. Water pressure is a steady 60 psi, and in the months I was there, power only went out twice, and only for a few seconds during heavy weather. I’m saddened to see the playground equipment being unused and unattended. The pool sits empty most days, the patio behind the store is unused, the soda machine and jukebox haven’t been plugged in for quite some time since the guests here come home after work tired and want nothing more than a shower and bed so they can do it all again the next day. All that being said, there are some transient sites available, and they’re the best ones in my opinion. Right next to the lake, a pretty view out of the RV windows, big stone fire rings, and every site comes with some complimentary fire wood for your first night. The campers leave each other alone, and the caretaker, John, is always on the lookout, so I routinely left my camper unlocked. Nobody is going to steal anything. I’m hoping that once the factory is built and the workers move on to the next job that the place will go back to a robust family campground. The big room in the office building was once full of kids on the video arcade machine, eating hot dogs in the booths, and playing on the pool table, but now it sits empty and unused. For transients and people looking for one or two nights, it’s perfect. The cost isn’t prohibitive, the staff is the most accommodating I’ve ever met, and the scenery is tranquil. I would absolutely come back here again.

We stayed there for 3 months while I was in town for a work contract. Initially staff was very friendly and welcoming. We were greeted at the front, shown to our campsite, and given a welcome bag. They were also accommodating when we had to postpone our visit due to Covid. The campground was very quiet and people generally kept to themselves. However, after staying for a while, we felt less and less comfortable and welcome. We found the showers weren’t cleaned often or well lit. We had leaves blown under our camper and onto all of our stuff. One day we were welcomed to this sign in the bathroom (picture below - where are these cameras?!?). Staff seemed annoyed with us waving to them around the park. Also, there wasn’t my much access to the Deep River. We attempted to explore a bit, but it was difficult to get to. There was a tiny, muddy beach with a broken set of chairs to sit on by the river. I know part of this is due to Covid, and the primitive camping sites not being used, but still disappointing. Of note, there are a lot of ducks and rabbits around. I didn’t take away any stars for that, but just like to make a note of it in case you have dogs like mine that like to make snacks of the droppings.

Traveling medical professionals STAY AWAY!! I thought I was going to stay in one of the cabins for 13 weeks while I was here working, but I could barely stay two weeks. There is mold all over the ceiling from moisture coming from the shower, and it started making me feel sick. I got a gym membership just so I wouldn’t have to shower there. The blinds are broken on the front door, so I didn’t feel safe or like I had any privacy. One night around 8:30 I heard somebody knocking on my door. I was terrified and hid in the bathroom until I thought they’d be gone. I emailed the manager Wendy to ask if she had knocked since she was the only person I talked to at the campground. She was really hostile and completely rude to me. That was when I decided to find somewhere else to stay for the duration of my contract. I’m paying more than double what I was paying at that trailer park, and it’s worth EVERY cent! I’m more comfortable and I feel safe. I didn’t even mention all of the bugs and lizards that were a constant in the cabin. Spend your money elsewhere. This place is a complete dump!

After deciding to go camping for the first time as a family we called every campground around and this was one of the only places with a spot on Memorial Day weekend. The campground has 2 pools, a pond, a playground, small game room and is close to the river. We enjoyed the pools but they are opened to the public. So before 5pm or so they were slightly crowded. We also rented a kayak for $5 an hour to use on their pond. They provided life jackets. This was fun. We also bought our own kayak and used it. They were some loud drunk people one night and you could definitely smell marijuana in the air on several occasions. We had small children so we didn't care for the party scene. Bring cash dont use debit or credit cards. We had an issue with paying for our site. My card was charged for some of the total charge but was declined for the whole amount even though there was more than enough money on it. So to be safe they canceled the transaction and we used another card. They offered us a site near the pool but we felt it was just a make shift spot in a field/yard area with no privacy or shade so they offered us another site #25 I believe and it seemed small but it was shaded and we made do. It was however extremely rocky. We brought mats to place under our tent thank goodness or we would have slept right on rocks and gravel and it could have possibly damaged our tent. Our kids had a ball. They were alot of unsupervised children walking by themselves on the trails near our site and on the playground putting toys on the merry go round. They bath houses were clean and close. There was one man on staff who came off very rude. We also seen 2 snakes near our site but it is near the river but you should be careful. I would probably go again but definitely want to check out...

WARNING WARNING Don't stay here. The new owner have screwed this campground up. Start with they have raised the price to 450 plus electric if you are staying monthly. Almost 200 if you stay a weeks. When I got there they told me I could pay 100 dollars for a couple of weeks until I get settle in at my new job the they told me I could pay 400. well When I got there they said they did not say that. Which they did that's why I went there. The other problem is they say they have WIFI well guess what that's a lie. But now they have removed it from there home page. The cable is a joke so you get 60 channels but guess what half of them will not come in to much static and the channels repeat there selfs. So you only get about 20 to 30 channels. The two pools One word NASTY. They don't know how to clean the pool bugs all on the top of the pool.Don't think the PH is right either. The bath house MOLD AND MILDEW showers are not hot warm but not hot. The have not cut the grass around my camper in about 3 weeks. The Washing machine smelled like soured clothes have been left in the washer and the dryers after you use them your clothes smell worse. Oh one more thing about the bathhouse the toilets half way flushes. So most of the time you will find floaters if you get my driff. They is a health risk in my book. But camp are your...
