We booked this for a one night stay in the mountains. We were desperate for a get away and some fresh mountain air. This was very last minute, so not much was left and we wanted to bring our dog, so we needed dog-friendly. That is how we came across the Mount Jefferson View. What a mistake. The fact that its in the middle of no where is fine, we weren't so much bothered by that. I booked through Hotels.com and reserved one of the "cabins" at the rate of $136 with taxes and fees included. Upon arriving to the Mount Jefferson View, and checking in, I was told by the man in the gym shorts, "Oh, great, you're here! I just charged your card, please sign." The receipt he put in front of me was for $161, which is higher than what Hotels.com reserved. This was odd but I knew I had to deal with it later. We went to our non-smoking cabin, opened the door, and got hit in the face by the smell of cigarettes'. And this wasn't old cigarette smell, someone was recently either smoking inside or on the porch and decided to let the smoke drown the room, it was beyond gross. The room in general was nasty, and we've stayed at some pretty awful places. The shower had dirt/ black mold all over it, no way we were stepping foot in it. The room had a shag rug, even though it was pet friendly, and you could tell many animals relieved themselves on the rug. The bed was advertised as a queen, but it was a double. We had to go into town and buy our own sheets/pillows because what was provided was gross (we've never done this before". Also, the porch had a bucket of old cigarette butts in it, adding to the smell and overall nasty vibe of this place. You couldn't pay us to stay here again, we woke up as soon as the sun rose and got the heck out, we couldn't wait to leave. DO...

The motel has an old school vibe, throwback vibe that made me nostalgic. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed plus a kitchenette which includes a stove, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer etc. The second room contains the queen bed, a bunk with a double on the bottom and twin in the top. The queen is the more comfortable of all the bed options. There is a pullout couch in the first room. The bathroom had the usual shower, toilet and sink with a couple shelves for storing your personal items. The cell service for Verizon and T-Mobile wasn’t working in the property, but the WiFi was great. This was expected as the location is adjacent to the Presidential Range. To use the TV find the Spectrum app on the list and stream channels. I also was able to use Apple Play to stream from my phone. The motel has a central outdoor (non-heated) pool, a play area for kids, a fire pit and grills. We used the AC the first night and could have used the heat the second, it’s New Hampshire so bring layers no matter the season. I think the Mt Jefferson View is a great place to come with extended family, a group of friends, or with kids. They offer a limited breakfast daily but we didn’t try it as we had other plans each day. The motel was also very quiet and despite it being motorcycle week in NH, we didn’t hear traffic/engine noise between 9pm and 8am. They have firewood on site, there are chairs in the pool area and outside the office, but next time I will bring comfortable chairs for lounging outside the cabin. We met the owner at checkout and again, we were impressed with his...
Read moreIf you are looking for a clean hotel for one night this works fine. The hotel itself is slightly dated, but has an eclectic feel to the place. They are very small cabins with cot type beds in each room. We had a two double bed room and there is no box spring which made the bed very uncomfortable. The room itself was cleaned very well even though the room itself was sub par. ||||Be careful in the bath/shower because they have a few non slip strips in the tub, but they don't work very well. I almost fell a couple times in the shower. The towels had a different smell to them which I didn't like. ||||We didn't stay for breakfast because the breakfast doesn't open until 8am which was too late for us. Remember to check in before 9pm because there is no front desk person between 9pm-8am. ||||I don't think I would stay here again since the beds were very uncomfortable. There isn't much for plugs to charge electronic devices. This isn't the ritz type hotel, but is a good location for the cog railway. ||||Also, it took awhile to get the tv to work. We had to play around with it for awhile to get any channels. ||You will see a picture I included which is kind of funny. I found two google eyes in the bathroom...
