This is a beautiful primitive campground along the Yampa river, just before it enters the canyons of Dinosaur National Monument. There are about 10 sites here, with clean restrooms and water. Fee is only $10/night. We spent the better part of two days here, swimming in the river and exploring the area. Wind was occasionally an issue, bad enough that we had to take our tent down for an afternoon. This area is primarily used as a put-in for people floating the Yampa through the park. A permit is required for floating.

Deerlodge Park Campground is within Dinosaur National Monument, Moffat County Colorado. This campsite has a small night fee and does not have a reservation system, it is first come, first-served. There are 7 campsites with shade, a fire pit, and water (available in the warm seasons). There is a bathroom. This area is very scenic and well-used. There is a hiking trail along the Yampa River here. The campsite is dog friendly, but popular trails in the monument are not dog friendly.

I would love to give this campsite five stars. However, this campsite has a ton of water people on the campsite that like to drink until midnight. If you're going during rafting time don't expect a quiet quiet night it's going to be loud but at the same time this is a major rafting put in for the Yampa. Just realize what you're getting yourself into if you go during the spring runoff.

If it wasn't for the five star hosts, this campground would get 1 star. As I was saying, the hosts were phenomenal, kind, and very involved. Now for the cons. We didn't heed the warning from the host about the mosquito population. The bugs here are relentless and were barely kept at bay by copious application of bug spray. That was the biggest con. Due to camp rules, you cant collect firewood for a nighttime fire, so be prepared to...
