A difficult review to give since this is just but the House but the Ghost Hunt weekends to, so I am going to break it down to tell alleyway things. The Thomas House in general, rooms, food and service. Then the Ghost Hunt weekends for the presentation, ghost hunt activity. The Thomas House is approximately 100 years old. The place itself on the outside like really cool but as you look closer you can tell the pace is on the decline. What once was a beautiful establishment with golf course and a pool is just a house and a semi upkept yard. Entering the Thomas House you are hit with a sulfur odor akin to a cat's litter box. It's but very bad, but it's there. Strangely it's ONLY in the entry and seating area. The "Seance room" has a slightly different smell, it is reported that there are active natural springs below the floor. The story is that room didn't have a floor and they world open the doors to cool the rest of the hotel. One could only wonder how the Springs are diverted and handled before putting a wood structure over top of it. The place is highly decorated in various items and antiques which brings uts own certain creep factor. The house in general is in disrepair with the common area seemingly starting to collapse into itself. The room we were in was sloped. The bathroom had a toilet that didn't work and a weird shower in there. Imagine a closet with a toilet in it and enough room to stand up and shower in front of it. Needless to say we didn't shower. The food... On our night they served spaghetti and Alfredo as the main. I can only describe the spaghetti as the weirdest concoction of items put together and call spaghetti. I swear the base was either ketchup. The slices added and chunks of green pepper was beyond odd. The only thing in it that was good was the sweet Italian sausage. The midnight snack was unidentified hot dogs, mini bags of chips which they didn't have enough of, some individually wrapped cochlear cup cakes. After the dinner and snack we opted to leave before breakfast...
Now the Ghost Hunt Weekends part. The presentation consisted of a Ghost Hunters episode where some of the "proof" the owners provided was debunked. After the episode the Ghost Hunt Weekends guy showed his own recorded show, in Ghost Adventures style, fire us to view. In it he guess over the same evidence presented to Ghost Hunters. There was a but if a pep talk before we broke out into three groups. There was a lot of confusion as to what was going on then we finally started the hunt. One thing to note was that you could investigate a hotel room if it was unoccupied by a guest and the door was open. On our night it was a fun house all rooms rented. There are three distinct areas they take you to, the seance room, green hallway and white hallway. In the seance room there were three cell phone based oviloys going, all three saying different things. This draws speculation that it's not real. Next we went to the green hallway. We seemed to have some hits on the GH's lantern and that was the only activity of the night for our group. I had a real K2 and a Mel Meter. There was a spot that I could demonstrate a consistent emf field that I world attribute to bad wiring which is evident throughout the house. We next went to white hallway and nothing happened there. After the hunt was over we went down for the midnight snack which was gas station gizzies. The Ghost Hunter Weekend people kind of gathered together and did their own thing. At this point it felt like we, the guests, were just there to fund the rental of the house so that they could Ghost hunt.
All in all it was an experience. Nothing ghostly happened. Cool...
Read moreWe did a ghost hunt weekend here- The ghost hunt 👻 was a lot of fun. The crew is amazing an knowledgeable. We are very spiritual people an I thouroughly loved that they encouraged you to participate but they also were very vocal about being careful an proceeding with caution when people wanted to channel etc. The Hotel itself- upon walking in your hit with a strong smell of household gas. Some were saying they was light headed an nauseated... I myself got extremely light headed an had to go outside an get fresh air....that is not the ghosts but definitely the gas. The food- EAT BEFORE YOU GO/BRING YOUR OWN SNACKS. Yes food is included BUT nobody in our group liked the food. They definitely drop the ball here. The night we all got there they did enchiladas- they did not use tortillas though they used some kind of dough that was not cooked through. The salad was loaded down with black olives which I found very odd as olives are not a food most people like or even eat. The potatoes they did were not good, they was cold an tasted like they had been sitting. The beans on the other hand were really good an tasted fresh. The cornbread- Dry ! An no butter was offered. Lol The snack- Hot dogs and chips were decent... My nieces bun had mold on it though. The brownies were awful... Lol They was Oreo brownies an some other kind that was equally as awful. I feel like they are getting these from Walmart or Sam's somewhere an both definitely have better snacks than these. Breakfast- Eggs were decent, the sausage was burnt to a crisp an it definitely was that precooked sausage that you should just be heating up.. Somebody burnt it an it was not edible.. Lol. Potatoes in the AM were decent. Biscuits No butter, no jelly or jam. Gravy was bland. The whole foods portion of this trip was disappointing....an we was actually looking forward to it based off other reviews an I guess the most frustrating part is that it really should be great. If they just simplified it a bit an used quality ingredients. Keep the menu simple an offer the things that all people generally like. Sam's definitely ships anything that isn't cold or comes in glass- So it's possible to improve the quality 10 times over. THE GHOSTS- IT'S DEFINITELY HAUNTED. our night started off really quiet.... Not much activity however the green hallway.... We got activity The seance room we for sure got tons of activity. The rooms are nice enough. Our teens absolutely loved it. We bought a K2 meter from the Ghost Hunt crew. Definitely check it out, it's worth the...
Read moreI should preface this review by stating that I'm not into luxury hotels or bland, boring motels. If this is your thing or you need all of the most modern technology around at all times, this review is not meant for you. I like a place with personality. That personality may come from architecture, decor or the staff. In this case, it comes from all three.
The hotel is very old and purported to be haunted by past residents and, according to one ghost-hunting group I met there, at least one enthusiastic visitor who has passed on now. I'm a skeptic but not a hard-nosed disbeliever. Having said that, I've had a single instance there that has me still wondering if it was coincidence or a ghostly encounter. Either way, the vibe and mystery of the place is interesting and invigorating.
The whole place is dripping with antique furnishings and memorabilia from bygone eras. Some rooms are set aside solely for housing such artifacts. I've spent a lot of time just admiring the contents spread throughout the structure and imagining life from the time periods to which they belong.
And what can I say about the staff? Everyone I've met has been very friendly and personable - sharing stories, jokes and even tears when recounting particularly personal memories related to the family who runs the hotel and resides there. If you're in need of something that is in their power to provide, they are happy to accommodate. The meals they provide are always excellent, too.
All in all, from the creaky floorboards to the friendly faces, I have thoroughly enjoyed every visit. I hope to pay many more to The Thomas...
