We got to red wing which is an absolute beautiful town on a sold out weekend for the Weird Al Yankovic Concert at Treasure Island. The amazing young girl at the front desk said she didn’t have a room she could check us into then and we said that was perfectly ok. Was there just somewhere we could use the bathroom before we headed back out. She directed us confidently towards the public bathrooms. We used those and headed back out. We did some sightseeing and had an amazing lunch and smoking oak. Then came back and she popped right up with huge smile on her face and says I can check you in now welcome back! Another girl was at the desk and asked if we or the other girl minded if she watched so that she could learn incase she needed to check people in. She seemed to be the maintenance/fixit girl lol. We all said no go right ahead and soon we were off to our room.
The Room: The room is where things kinda went sideways. When we got up there we realized that we had no linens for the fold out bed, which isn’t a huge deal because we could just call down and ask but then we tried to go to the bathroom and the door wouldn’t latch shut so we couldn’t close the bathroom door. Right after that we tried turning on the tv in the living room and it wouldn’t turn on. The tv in the bed room said it was loading which it eventually did. We called down to the front desk and the maintenance girl came up. She looked at the bathroom door and concluded it was due to the heat and there was nothing that could be done. She apologized. Then she looked at the living room tv and tried getting a new remote it still wouldn’t work. She then thought of trying the bedroom remote lo and behold that worked lol. So we got the living room tv fixed but then we did t have a tv remote. She tried his on our tv nope. She tried the brand new remote on our tv and that worked or so we thought. After she left we tried the volume and it wouldn’t work. So we called her back. She tried everything. So we ended up sharing the living room remote between both rooms to be able to change volume on the TVs. Well after the concert when we came back I put my card to the door the light turns green but the door wouldn’t open. So my brother tries, it won’t open for him either it’s literally stuck. He had to body check the door as quietly as possible and then it finally let us in. Well when we finally got in and went to use the bedroom remote to turn the tv on and look for a show before getting the other remote to change the volume the bedroom remote no longer worked. So we had one remote for two TVs.
Staff: The staff I would seriously give 10/5 stars. They were all amazing. Nice, caring, laughing with us, asking us questions, forming connections, they truly cared.
Resolution: The hotel did talk to us about all the problems and make it right. Which they didn’t even need to do. They tried to fix everything and that was...
Read moreIs 0 stars an option? I am planning my wedding well in advance of the date. I contacted Country Inn & Suites Red Wing at around 10 months out from our wedding date to reserve a block of rooms for our guests. I had to submit their request form twice because the first time it didn’t get filed by the person who took my information for some reason. About a week after my info was successfully submitted, I received a call from Keith who does the coordination for wedding block reservations. Keith clarified some of my information and then said he should be able to reserve a block of about 30 rooms for the dates of my wedding weekend. He said he would call back within a few weeks to follow up and confirm the reservation. I never received a call back. I contacted Country Inn & Suites a couple months later - about 7 months out from our wedding date at this point - to get an update on the reservation. I was told I would get a call/email response within a day or two from Keith with an update. I did not receive any correspondence. About a week later, I called back and luckily enough Keith answered the phone this time. Now that he couldn’t avoid me, Keith tells me that as he was planning my reservation, he was “overruled” and another wedding party was scheduled on my wedding weekend. There was no effort to make me aware of this situation in the 2-3 months that I didn’t have contact with the hotel. There was no effort to work on a resolution by the hotel. Only a half-hearted apology that it happened. 7 months out from my date, during peak wedding season in a popular wedding area and now I don’t have a place for my guests to stay thanks to the absolutely atrocious organization of this hotel and its employees. This is unacceptable and I will recommend to everyone to find a better...
Read moreI had intended to write a review about our stay, but unfortunately, the General Manager's behavior was extremely inhospitable and rude. Due to this, we decided to cancel our reservation. Our experience involved waiting for over an hour in a unclean lobby, surrounded by large black flies. Despite having booked our room months in advance for a wedding, the GM informed us that our room was not ready. This was particularly frustrating considering we had flown all the way from California.
When we sought an explanation from the GM, his response was to immediately begin yelling, attributing his mood as the reason. In addition to not providing us with our room, we observed him double booking another guest, which left two couples without accommodations. The lack of cleanliness in our the hotel was evident.
Although I would prefer to share the name of the GM responsible for this unpleasant experience, he concealed his name tag and declined to identify himself, even resorting to a threat of involving the police.
Undoubtedly, this ranks as one of the most unpleasant hotel stays I've ever encountered. I strongly advise against choosing this establishment, as cleanliness and room availability cannot be guaranteed. It was a truly disappointing and...
