After a 6 hr drive, we showed up and they told us they canceled our reservation because “Expedia” gave them the wrong dates. They told us we didn’t check in the date prior 8/29 (before our check-in date 8/30) and they rebooked the room. I showed them our proof of reservation showing the correct date of 8/30 and she shrugged and said “I don’t know what to tell ya.” I asked her why she didn’t contact us before canceling our reservation and she said, “we don’t do that.” Mind you, this was a special trip for my husband’s birthday! The manager also refused to give us a refund until I threatened to call the cops for double dipping- they took money for our reservation- that we NEVER canceled and took money for another reservation making the room unavailable. We had to scramble to find a hotel that costs 3x as much because of the holiday weekend and all they did was say “sorry”. I will NEVER book Smith Rock Resort again due to lack of accountability and respect from the owner - which is also evident in her responses to these reviews.
-I'd also like to mention that I spoke with Expedia about this instance and here is what I was told "I understand. However, sending wrong dates to their system is not possible because once you have submit your booking with us it will sync on their system automatically. And also, we do not change or cancel any reservation without...
Read moreWe absolutely loved this place. We booked last minute over a weekend in July and were truly very pleased with the place. Yes it's dated, but in an awesome hot tub time machine kind of way. The rooms were super clean, and had updated flat screen TVS. The mattress was firm, but quite comfortable. A/C worked like a charm, and it was quiet and pleasant. The wooden ceiling and octagon shaped rooms are a very fun unique experience. There are several old reviews from perhaps years back from folks who just might be kind of...Jerky. If you like the outdoors, beauty, history, vintage fun type hotels that are well maintained AND a little adventure, then this is the place for you. The views are absolutely beautiful, perched on the edge of a canyon that one could consider a mini Grand Canyon. There's a trail right from the property that you can take to the bottom of the canyon to enjoy a beautiful river. We walked the trail in the early evening and immensely enjoyed nature's art, the Canyon's walls painted with the tangerine light of the setting sun. Then we sat on the deck outside our room and enjoyed a cold and delicious beverage. Also, is now dog friendly with a modest deg deposit required per night. Get your friends, both furry and human,...
Read moreMy family and I have stayed at this unique location 3 times for multiple days. The prices fluctuate from winter rates to spring/ summer (peak) rates, which are normal.Generally regular discounts are accepted and I have negotiated for better rates if it was multiple days and not at summer peak. I have felt a sense of worth for the money spent each time. As far as the rooms go if you want to be spread out a little & spending a little more is in the budget, I recommend the full suite which is very accommodating with more amenities & the ones facing the fairway and driving Range were cool.. The rooms have been clean, well kept & and are on par with industry standards along with friendly staff, it has always been a pleasant experience. Of course, the star of the show, unless you're a golfer ,🏌️♀️ 🏌️♂️ is the hiking trails & views. This part of Central Oregon, especially, of course, Crooked River Ranch has so much to offer, it is a must see area if you are traveling or visiting Oregon. *If you read this review, I encourage you and yours to come visit the area & experience the natural Splendor & Wonderment this photogenic area offers. Awe is what I feel every time I go about the area & it seems I always find something new...
