This was truly an awful experience. If you want the most remote, difficult to get to place to stay in the area, this is it! The scenery around here is beautiful and that is its one redeeming quality.
The room we stayed in could hardly be considered a hotel. More like a slumlord airbnb. As far as we can tell, it was a house divided into two rooms. The main place, room A had a beautiful front porch, where we stayed, room B, had a small set of stairs leading up to the entrance. The whole area was covered in live bugs, mostly moths and mosquitoes but also ants and other flying insects were present.
As soon as you walk in, you have two squeeze by a huge double sink because the entrance is through the bathroom! After you walk past the toilet and shower, you get to the actual room.
The room had a window A/C unit and heater, a microwave, mini fridge, tv, and coffee maker. The closets had glue traps and droppings, the floor was dirty and the whole place felt a bit lopsided and creaky. For furniture there was a table and chairs, and tv stand, a queen sized bed and little tables for night stands. It was dirty and stale but thankfully the AC and heater worked great.
What didn’t work was the WiFi there was a router but it flashed green and the owner just said “use the other one” it worked about half the time but was for the main house and was too far away to be reliable. We used hotspots on our phones (which barely worked out here). We didn’t touch the tv.
The main event though, the one that could redeem a million other issues is the bed. Unfortunately this bed was just awful. The whole thing was tilted at an angle causing the person sleeping on that side to roll towards the middle, super creaky and hard, the comforter smelled and we had a suspicion it had not been washed. And while you sleep mosquitoes dine upon your blood as a little nighttime snack.
The bugs were outrageous to me. I literally bought bug spray and mosquito repellent to try and stay sane.
The shower was disgusting and barely worked. The mechanism to turn it on required a shocking amount of strength and pulling in a way that made no sense to us, also the hot water is on when the arrow points to cold and vice-versa.
I did not enjoy the stay and the hosts did not make it comfortable. They should consider renovating this place to make it more livable. Seal up the holes and cracks, fix the shower, and get a new bed and frame.
If you choose to stay here, I hope it’s improved...
Read moreWe tried calling the number provided - but got no response Next morning - when we finally managed to get in touch with Anna ; she did try to resolve the issues by sending over body wash and hair-dryer ... it was basically a point of no-return by then.
We checked-out of the property in the morning (a full day early) and made alternate arrangements as spending any more time at this dump was only taking time away from our planned itinerary for the day.
In summary I will say this ; while I am all for supporting small family run businesses .. it does not mean I will look the other way when I am paying good money for rooms - that are not clean and serviced and don't have basic amenities such as clean sheets , towels and toiletries.
I hope my post deters people from coming here and experiencing the disappointment and frustration my family...

This was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had. Ive stayed in some budget hotel but this one made it to the top of run down hotels despite paying a good price for the rooms . The photos uploaded by the owner are misleading and nowhere close to reality.
We booked 3 rooms. These turned out to be - Sherman, White Oak and Ponderosa. It is unfortunate to say that all we were disappointed with all three rooms.
All three rooms seemed shabby and neglected, with a strong damp, mouldy smell that hit us as soon as we stepped in. Cleanliness was far below acceptable standards, and the overall atmosphere felt unhealthy and uncomfortable. We checked in late after a long travel day in the national park (which is not at all unusual) . The approach road was pitch dark and bumpy. Given the time we were forced to spend the night at the wrecked hotel.
There was leftover perishable food from previous guests ( see photos uploaded by me) was adding to the foul smell. The most shocking thing was that when I called the next day the person which I presume was the owner of the place had the audacity to tell me that they do purposely leave left over food in the fridge so that the next guest may enjoy it ! WOW !
I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere until serious...
