TT/RV review.
Overall good place to camp, camp host was actually doing her job while not being pushy or rude. trees and plants are well maintained and there were no concerns of low hanging trees or tight turns when we were there. Tree cover was heavy and will be hinder the use of solar or starlink setups
If you have slides, be cautious on the pull throughs with trees on the street side. I saw a few people barley clearing their slides on trees.
This camp is right off of highway 101 which makes access to north bend very quick and easy, the downside would be you will hear some highway noise during early morning and later afternoon when the camp is more quiet.
The camp backs up to the southern edge of the ohv dune area, you will hear some ohv noise during the day and into the night until around 10-11pm. The ohv area is to the north of the campground so there is no ohv driving in the campground and the dunes behind the campground along the beach trail are for hiking only. This does create a MUCH more quiet environment compared to some sand/ohv areas to the north of this area where they are riding the ohvs in the campground and along roads.
Eel creek has a lot of hiking options from a light stroll all the way to a 5+ hour pure sand dune hike (only for the very fit).
For summertime the price is great at $22 . That price does continue through the offseason which is when I believe this campground looses some value as you can get full hookup sites with water views for $40, 5min away from eel creek, these would be campgrounds that also do not allow tents. (Keeps noise down and problems away GENERALLY speaking)
That’s said I would be happy to come and...
Read moreThis is a beautiful little campground. Everything is well groomed and the bushes look like they have all been trimmed up. Very quiet (during the week, don't know about week-ends), and you hear no road noise from Hwy 101. This is a great location to venture out from. A trip to Coos Bay and a cruise down Cape Arago Highway is not that far away. Just outside the entrance and about a quarter of a mile down the road is a Dollar General. Outside of the Dollar General store you have to drive into Coos Bay or Reedsport to do any shopping.
Reserve America does a great job in showing pictures of each of the sites. Getting in and out of here with a big rig is not a problem. Very high clearances, but be aware of which site you choose. Some won’t work for bigger rigs. For those of you with solar panels be aware that not all of the sites are sunny.
I would avoid at all cost site #44. It looks like the sand dune behind the campground has completely taken over this site.
The Geo coorindinates for the entrance is: 46.587047, -124.184396
Now there are a few negative things to report. One is the water situation here. This campground has been without water for some time now, so the bathrooms are closed and portable toilets have been put up. If you are a fully self contained RV camper this won’t be a problem. There is a state park about a mile north of this place that provides water and a dump station at no charge, so it is easy to fill up there before coming into the campground.
The pavement is sinking in places. The dips can be hard to see, so drive very slowly, otherwise you might get a good jolt.
A great place to camp....
Read moreEel Creek campground in Siuslaw National Forest, Lakeside, Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, Oregon is a hidden gem. Clean flush toilets in bathrooms x3, running potable water spaced every few hundred yards, large trash dumpsters next to restrooms. Campground is very clean and well maintained. Sites are very spacious and each unique for the most part, private, leaving one to feel secluded and alone with nature, yet safe with rangers driving through the park regularly. Wildlife is abundant, I’ve seen chipmunks, squirrels, deer, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, Steller jays, crows, ravens and vultures. A beautiful place tucked inside the Oregon dunes from which you can access from many different campsites. John Dellenback Trail is a must. One can go a half mile or 6 (strenuous) miles round-trip hiking in the soft warm, clean sand to the beautiful ocean. Nature is beautiful here, trees, bushes, sand. You can smell the pine trees from your site. We were here all summer and it did not get above 72° while the rest of the state was going through severe heat warnings, it was very...
