We are platinum members and have stayed all over the country with choice hotel chain. This was the absolute worst stay in 4 years. Upon arrival it looked ok. Left room for around 15 minutes, when I returned door was propped upon like they where cleaning it. Then I remember "dnd" was on the door. Went in purse on bed had been unzipped and gone through along with shopping bag.
I asked the maid on hall if she had gone into room and she said no. Then told her someone had gone in room and went through my things. Ask her to look at cameras. Then she informed me there was none.
Immediately asked for manager. The manager came up her name is Sara.
I explained to her what happened and we discussed it and agreed that I should go through room and find out what is missing.
Went downstairs after about 10 minutes and said that it looked like all my cards where there, but I was concerned if maybe they had taken pictures of my credit cards and personal info. The manager immediately went in the defense. How no one at hotel would have done this. So my response was someone did. She assured me that she did not believe any of her staff would do this. Which left me feeling like, It was for me to deal with. She did not have any solutions for me and I felt very violated.
Did not feel comfortable staying where they was no cameras, so they moved us to another floor that had them.
Unfortunately, that the floor that allows pets. So room was extremely smelly and sticky feeling and I did not want to sleep there, but I did.
They did ask me, if I wanted points and the deskclerk said he gave us a discounted rate first night. Not sure how that helps? At the time, I was emotionally exhausted and had to put things in placed to protect my creditors, so it wasn't my number one priority.
After I got home next day I called Sara back and told her what I had been dealing with since I left.
She still was on the defensive again. She did offer 1000 in points which was insulting and then proceeded to tell me, that her maids had heard me and my husband arguing. Not sure how that us their business. Of course we are stressed.
I explained what I had been through, then she offered 5000, and sounded very aggravated with me and non sympathetic, to my situation.
I did tell her I read the reviews and several people had complained about doors not closing properly. She did not want to discuss any fault of her staff or hotel.
The conversation escalated from there and that's when she verbally started abusing me, she said quote "I was the rudest person she has ever met."unquote.
I told her i did not want to deal with her further and that i hope she never had to have her personable belongings gone and felt like I did.
I truly just wanted to go home and did not even have shower or go to dinner with my husband.
Of course, I'm emotional and upset. Any good manager would have recognized this and would helped to resolve this terrible situation. I am truly stunned that I was treated this way.
Thank you Sara
I called corporate and they resolved my issue for me and helped me within 15 minutes. We will continue to stay with Choice Hotels, BUT NEVER AT...
Read moreThe Comfort Inn in Richfield, UT is an average Choice hotel without notable highs and lows: So normally not worth to write a review. For one exception: lack of customer service and missing hospitality of front desk staff. To be exact, most of them were very courteous and helpfully. However there was one exception. The elderly woman (Nancy) who seemed to be sort of a manager needs to be trained in these fields if she intends keeping direct contact to guests.
In my room there was only 1 chair which was an office chair with very tight armrests. I'm thicker than average people, so I had problems sitting in this chair without pain caused by the armrests made of steel.
Therefore I asked the following morning the receptionist at front desk if I could possibly get a different chair. Nancy instructed me that I could sit on the sofa bed without any problems. She certainly didn't know that the distance between sofa bed and desk where my notebook and papers were was nearly 10 feet. Besides there would have been no AC outlet close to the sofa bed.
She "deeply regretted" that these chairs like mine are the only available type in the whole hotel. Adjacent to front desk is the breakfast area with at least 30 regular chairs without an armrest. My wish for getting one of them for the rest of my stay was also denied. Instead I was offered doing my work in breakfast area!
Needless to mention upon returning to my room next evening that I didn't get a better chair.
By the elevator on each floor was a big armchair (the 3rd type of chair in this hotel which claims only to have one type of chairs). So I took this chair to my room and problem was solved.
Could have been so easy for Nancy, if she had realized what her primary mission is.
Once again - this Comfort Inn isn't bad. Without obligations for Choice Privileges I would prefer other hotels...
Read moreWhile the hotel is essentially a big building in the middle of an asphalt parking lot with minimal landscaping and therefore not too visually appealing, inside it feels warm and inviting. For me, the welcome feeling was enhanced by the friendly and professional young lady who performed the check-in process. She was efficient and quickly handed me my room key-cards.
I ended up in a handicap accessible room. I'd think that it is good for handicapped people because it is maybe 10 feet away when exiting the elevator. The room was also set up in such a way that it has plenty of room for a wheelchair or walker to maneuver around in.
The room was very clean, with a couple of free bottles of water in the fridge. I don't remember how comfortable the bed was because I was asleep by the time my head hit the pillow and I slept the entire night without interruption. So I guess it was pretty comfortable.
The next morning, I could smell bacon while my room. And when I made my way down to the breakfast area, I found a full spread with all the breakfast items I could want. I personally had bacon, eggs, and hashbrowns. Then I had some biscuits and gravy. I washed all this down with juice and coffee.
The young lady working the breakfast room, the fellow behind the front desk, and another lady who was dressed in Comfort Inn garb all gave me a smile and good morning wishes and inquired about my satisfaction with my stay.
Overall,...
