Super Value Inn — Hotel in Richland

Well, where do I begin? How about I just list it from good to bad; but before I begin, be sure to bring your own towels.||||GOOD:||--The staff was friendly||--There was plenty of parking available||--The hotel has certainly done some upgrades in the past year and with quite a few more, they can eventually gain a 5 out of a one to 10||--Very convenient for a quick nap||||BAD:||--Room service certainly needs improvement; the staff did not take the time to do any cleaning here during our last visit; We had to speak to the front desk several times in reference to the carpet being dirty and no clean towels being brought in; and don't expect your sinks to be cleaned either||--The staff while nice, is very lackadaisical in cleaning. Most of them reside in the hotel and don't even get started cleaning until the afternoon.||--The first time we visited, there was a dead roach on the bathroom floor and no one from the staff bothered to clean it up. ||--Sheets were not all that clean and they were extremely thin; bring your own blanket.||--The exterior certainly needs some work.||--There is no room phone, so heaven forbid you have bad cell reception!||--There are no smoke detectors in the room, so you need to sleep with one eye open just in case there is a fire. ||--The hot water takes a while to heat up, so be sure to...

My family and I stayed at this location recently, and it was a bit different than expected. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our reservation was for two queens, but our room had two full sized beds. There was an ice bucket in the room, but the motel has no ice machine. The room itself is very outdated. The only recent update was the TV. There was chewed gum on the headboard, garbage in the room from a previous guest, the bathroom floor and shower curtain was dirty, and the walls and carpeting need a thorough cleaning. The door lock was rigged to work, but it wouldn't be too challenging to break into a room. No morning coffee or breakfast is offered, but for the price, we wouldn't be expecting too much, other than a clean room with comfortable bedding. There are only 2 choices in Richland for a place to stay. The only reason to choose this one is Walter. He is the host, and was the best part of this hotel. He allowed me to use the hotel equipment to do my laundry and stayed up with me past 10, as he unlocked and locked the laundry room, to get it all done. He provided air freshener to eliminate the smoking odor in our non smoking room. He was accommodating to the needs of all the guests. Regarding the room, there is a plastic cover on the mattress causing you to sweat and sleep in a wet bed, there was a dirty ashtray in the nonsmoking room, carpet was frayed and there was a dispenser in the shower with watered down soap, conditioner and empty shampoo.
