What a surprise gem! I was looking for a campground to take my son and his friends for his 15th birthday. I found JCO on Hipcamp but ended up booking directly on their website. Tessa was so helpful answering all my questions so we could create a fun, safe, and special weekend. She also offers fun/helpful add-ons like birthday signs, s'more kits, firewood, and worms for fishing. My husband and I stayed in the floating cabin that had just enough amenities for us to have a comfortable sleep and do some light cooking. It was adorably decorated for fall. Canoeing off the back dock around the scenic pond was wonderful. The kids stayed in tents right behind us and had easy access to fishing. It is catch and release and they caught enough fish to get a few of them up in the early morning to try again. Not too buggy either. Just a lot of algae on the pond after the big storm. Would definitely recommend for family, friends and group camping for a quick get away from Wilmington/Southport and...
Read moreHands down one of the best (if not THE best) camping trips I have ever had. I was in scouts, and I have gone camping dozens of times, and this place blew me away.
Excellent camping spots. They have a wonderful selection of campsites, both close together and secluded from other campsites. Excellent environment and atmosphere. The nature of this site is stunning. Beautiful trees and pond, without being too dirty or smelly. Excellent service and accommodation. The campground owners were extremely friendly, helpful, and all-around pleasant people and amazing hosts. Excellent prices. Loads of other fun things to do around the campground, like fishing and boating, and they have good prices on rentals and reservations.
I came here to visit some of my distant friends, and I wish this place was closer to home because I would come here all the time.
If you are looking for a premium experience for camping with friends and/or family for a few...
Read moreWe had a nice relaxing overnight in the floating cabin!! We enjoyed just relaxing on the porch. We walked around the property and I was really impressed with the campsites and how large each one was. They even have a little store. The cabin is really cute and it was built by hand and has heat, cold AC, TV, hammock, chairs, a cute bathroom with on demand hot water, 2 burners, microwave, coffee station, grill and campfire area. Plus it comes with a canoe when you rent the floating cabin!!! Other sites can rent kayaks, canoes or pedal boat. We cooked dinner and just relaxed. It was nice and warm with a great breeze.Just remember linens, blankets, towels and maybe an extra pillow if you're weird about plows like me, and they've got the rest. Super helpful owners. I think we're going to try out the A frame cabin on our next stay. But we'll...
