I have stayed at Snug harbor for about 10 years in a row now. It’s been an annual 5-day fishing trip I do with my close friends in the month of October. We try to stay in the same cottage (used to be called Snuggle Inns) 40 and 41 every year. Never had any issues the previous 10 years we’ve stayed at Snug Harbor. This year was different. I stayed in cottage 41 and noticed flies in the bedroom the first night. I killed all the flies in the room, but noticed they kept coming back. I looked around the bedroom for some food left behind or something, but didn’t find anything. The 4th night of my stay, I was lying in bed around 5:30am and heard what sounded like little feet. I was thinking to myself, maybe it’s an animal walking outside or something. Around that same time a rat ran across my face. I jumped up and yelled for my friend who came into the room. We looked under the bed and noticed a hole under the box spring where this animal is living. That day we were checking out and I let one of the grounds crew know what had happened. I sent an email to Snug Harbor the next morning and called in. When I called in, I tried to explain what had happened and the guy on the phone cut me off and said, I already got your email so you don’t need to elaborate on it. I asked for a refund on my stay at cottage 41 and he said, he has to submit the refund request, but if it was up to him, it would be a “big fat no”. I said, you had to have noticed the flies in the room every time you go in to clean it along with the animal feces. He said, we can’t control the rats or what they do. He said, you have to agree that this place is a lot cleaner than what it was when you stayed here in years past. He said, that they used to have rats on the counter tops and everywhere and that they have come a long way from that. He said, they had complaints of rats in the couches and the beds before. I told him, they need to get rid of that bed and box spring in cottage 41 and I wanted a refund of my stay in cottage 41. He said, would you take a 1-day refund. I said, I was sleeping with a rat for 4 nights and I wanted a refund for the whole stay as that’s disgusting. I told him, that I have a headache and the runs. He said, if you’re going there, I am not even going to submit your request for a refund and you can call a lawyer. It’s pretty easy for me to find out who owns Snug Harbor to send the complaint directly to them since it sounds like the front office guy isn’t going to move my complaint forward. This is also a concern for me. If the front office guy is blocking complaints from guests, what other complaints is he blocking from management?

Read moreWe stayed on May 3-5, 2023. BEWARE, IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING STAYING RELATIVELY SOON AFTER OUR STAY, CALL TO MAKE SURE THEY HAVE RUNNING WATER!!!!!! They did not for our entire stay, except water coming on for a few minutes intermittently and randomly here and there, then long periods of nothing. We were never informed directly that the water was out. We rented one of their single-wides, not on check-in were we informed. We even checked all the sinks to make sure the water shut-off was inline and walked around the outside to make sure the water main was on, before we bugged anyone, and when we called that's when we were informed the water was out. No one, in our 2 days there ever gave us an update about the water situation, never even checked if we had drinking water, nor offered us a bucket to get water from the river so we could flush the toilet. Nothing was offered to help. After the first day, when it was apparent the water was not fixed, we should have been informed of this and they should have offered to us the option to leave and get a refund for the second night of our stay. We were expecting to be able to shower, use a toilet and cook/wash dishes. None of this worked right, outside of us using an empty 1 gallon jug of water we bought in town, for the toilet. It was stressful, and we regretted staying here. The place was not very clean, and beware---bring slippers or thick socks to walk around in, because they use a swiffer to "clean" the floor and it leaves the floor sticky mess and the floor will look dirty when you walk in. We never went barefoot in the place---gross. Also---you have to pay for internet--which their website does not clearly state. They should not list that the place has wifi if it's a pay service. Plus, if you are counting on enjoying an evening outside looking at the stars or the moon, forget it. They have lights on the exterior you cannot shut off on each single wide, and they run all day too. Which is really rich, considering the resort leaves notes all over the trailer telling you to conserve to keep costs down. The view of the river was nice and in the spring and I suspect the fall too, there are not many people there so it's fairly peaceful, but it was a ripe off to pay $150 a night with taxes and fees, and not have running water. At the most basic we should have been given some drinking water the first night, and been offered a discount on a future stay. The woman who works at the little store they have is a gem. She is funny (and made me belly laugh more than once), very sweet and will do anything to help. It's too bad the rest of the experience was not as great as her customer service. We...
Read moreWe went camping at Snug Harbor RV Park & Marina this past weekend. The route to get there if you're pulling a 5th Wheel Trailer or in a Class A Motorhome is pretty nerve-racking and a white knuckle experience if you're coming from I-5 and plan to take Hood Franklin Rd or Twin Cities Rd, which will take almost an additional 45 minutes from those exits. There are a lot of narrow levee roads that are not level and multiple bridges with clearances as low as 13'2". I will say this it's a lot easier if you take Jefferson Blvd off HWY 50 in West Sacramento it was a smooth ride and about the same drive time, we took this on the way home. When you arrive, you need a gate code but there is no notice of this when booking the site or when you get your email confirmation of the stay we booked through Good Sam Club website. When you call the front desk from the gate intercom, it doesn't go to the front office. The, very nice, lady at the front office already knew this information but there is no sign at the intercom letting people know to call her at her direct line. The main line goes to the third-party company running the RV Park and they aren't physically located at the Park. Luckily, we had another patron who knew the code to let us in, shortly after we got to the gate. Our RV site we had (assigned upon arrival) was near the water but was pretty undeveloped for just over $100 a night. The site pad was mostly dirt, with a thin layer of road base, it was unlevel and had 2 large potholes. Our site featured water, sewer, and electrical connections on the correct side of the RV. I will warn you, though, most of our neighbors did not have that luxury as their connections were on the opposite side (passenger side if you back into the site), so bring a 20' sewer hose extension. Activities there include the beach, which was nice for the kids to go swimming, or go fishing off the docks. We didn't have a boat, but there is a ramp there and plenty of dock space to moor for the evenings, and I'm sure it would make a fun experience. It's a pretty quiet park, with a lot of Full-time residents. Overall, I don't think they should charge over $50 a night with the current condition. I would encourage the owners to go and visit other RV Resorts like Tower Park to get ideas of how to improve the sites and amenities if they are going to charge like they are at the same level...
