As others have said, our housing was in Holt Lodge. A motel like building with no staff onsite. Musty unless running the fairly noisy AC. Comfortable beds. Electric cover missing from wall outlet, not enough lamps or outlets and my lamp fell apart when I turned it off. Internet good, tv good, bathroom clean and lots of hot water. Quiet and lovely setting but a long outside walk/drive if you need meals. Would have benefited from a book in the room or building of activities available onsite or in Ripley and what to expect for the room and services.
There were two large groups here being provided meals and they were the worst meals I have ever been given. There had to be no cooks in the kitchen because everything was prepackaged delivered product that could be boiled or rewarmed. First salad I had was mushy in the middle. The hard taco shells on the taco bar were rancid. The bean enchiladas were steamed and served without any sauce. To top it off, the Belgian waffles for breakfast were precooked but then held in a sealed pan and were soggy again with no flavor. Brownies were served for dessert at three meals. Nothing had any flavor. Just saw a job posting for cook/chef that was dated...

Read moreCedar Lakes is a camp for adults! Children's groups meet here too for sessions of summer camp. Cedar Lakes Arts and Crafts holds classes in stained glass, basketry, painting etc. Ripley, WV is a charming rural town and Cedar Lakes appears to have had a long history as avmeeting and training venue for 4H, FFA, VFW and the FHA. Local juvenile law officers were training there too during my stay. It is also a rustic but charming conference center and venue for special events. Food is served cafeteria style, hardy and southernly delicious! Accommodations include a modern hotel style lodge and some more rustic but pet friendly cabins in addition to cabins owned by local organizations. Cedar lakes also serves as the recreation site for the town and...
