A very acceptable Hotel with a simple though acceptable breakfast buffet. Everybody on the staff was extremely helpful and friendly and in the lobby there is a computer and a free printer. They are the first stop on Mayo Clinic shuttle on the way back from the clinic which is very very nice. I hear this hotel is gotten better over the last year although this is the first time I stayed I wanted to stay pretty far south and I picked this one and I'm happy with my choice my only single disappointment is there are no safe deposit boxes and being a traveler I sometimes carry stuff with me that I'd like to stuff away while I'm running errands in town. If there were safe deposit boxes I might consider giving them a four-star rating but they really aren't that fancy hotel but the people as I said a really nice and really helpful. I would say the staff is probably the friendliest and most personable of almost any hotel I stayed in
The first shuttle to the Mayo Clinic in the morning leaves at 6 a.m. and since they're not dropping anybody off they're basically empty when they get here so you have a good choice of seating. Subsequent shuttles during the day are actually dropping off and picking up people on the hour here at the hotel
Unfortunately if you're coming to this hotel using the Rochester direct shuttle from the MSP airport the shuttle does not go this far south but if you're driving in that's a different story. I had one minor problem and that I was sitting out in front of the hotel on the bench waiting for the Mayo Clinic shuttle and for some absolutely insane reason the Mayo Clinic shuttle called the front desk and the front desk said they couldn't see anyone in the lobby so they did not come here to get me which is the absolutely most insane thing that's happened to me in six years of coming to the clinic in Rochester Minnesota. Later when the general manager came in he offered to personally drive me to the Mayo Clinic and but luckily the Mayo snap shuttle came back for me
It is a quick drive to Walmart which is very convenient. WiFi is very fast and there is good ample parking. There are good power outlets on the desk and by the bed for plugging in your laptop or your cell phone charger is at night and it may seem trivial but the vending machine for soft drinks is a really nifty machine lots of selections and works...
Read moreRooms seem clean. (I say seem due to what we can't see, those microscopic things like on news tv about what we don't know, and this just wasn't planned, but it would be nice to know when and what super disinfection measures were taken in an individual room. Such as hospitals use ultrasonic light to kill bad germs, (NOT TO MAKE READERS PARANOID ) I'm not going there, BUT I AM IN THE CITY THAT HAS THE MOST PREMIER HOSPITAL IN THE WORLD, to my knoledge. AND I'VE HAD A MESA INFECTION from a Canadian hospital 19 years ago, NOT THERE'S MEASLES OUT BREAK and more than we need to worry about, BUT COULD A HOTEL COST EFFECTIVELY PROVIDE SAFEGUARDS. I think we must concidered that, RIGHT.
This HOTEL HAS BEEN VERY GOOD VALUE AND only 2 issues I'd comment on the shower was 2 on a 1-10 scale the temp and water pressure fluctuations were like nothing I've ever seen, 5 min in and water changed to a dribble for 1-2 min and temp was never steady, I do have experience and knowledge of hotel plumbing, and a circulating hot water system insures instant hot water, there's issues in this system at least in rm 433 that causes this, maybe high demand but I don't see how it could go cold and seconds later scorch skin. I will address hotel not just write bad stuff, because 1-2 issues that could develop over time, does not reflect the business or management or staff.
I felt the bed was extremely firm, and the pillows were great, but small. And the comfort and ability to sleep and stay asleep is one of any hotels most important issues. Sleep effects our health and everything about our day. So 3 hours, night be a bigger issue than the water. And lastly there were some cosmetic damage in the bathroom wall that should be repaired, if I owned a hotel, I'd want to be proud of every inch and want my guest to not see damage, or blemishes. And I'm being to fussy for a VERY REASONABLE PRICED ROOM, even when I also know the REAL FORMULA OF HOW LUCRATIVE AND PROFITABLE HOTELS ARE and in a city like Rodchester MN that has a SUPER HIGH OCCUPANCY RATE making one hotel in this town able to KEEP DOORS OPEN ON SEVERAL poorly located franchise hotels. I WON'T DIVULGE THE TRADE SECRET OF THE FORMULA (at...
Read moreThis hotel should be closed due to violations. My room the door to my room would not lock, so every time I left my room, my personal belongings were not safe, anyone could have went into my room. I tried multiple times trying to get the door to lock, but would not work. Also, my room did not have a working landline phone. If I would've had an emergency there would have been no way for me to call for help! I spoke to the front desk lady, which she basically did nothing, she dismissed my concerns, and told me to speak to the manager in the morning. My room did not have any trash cans and you are expected to take your garbage out when you check out. How do you ask a guest to take their garbage out and don't even provide a trash bin in their room?! I only had 1 wash cloth, 1 hand towel, and I bath towel, no toiletries, and when I asked for these items, the front desk told me they did not have any to give me. This hotel also advertised it has a breakfast, so I went to check it out, what a joke! They had horrible coffee, generic powder coffee creamer, generic granola bars and bottles of water. And that's it.. I tried contacting management, with no luck, I did not have the time to waste in the morning, I had to leave for work. I also emailed corporate my complaints and concerns, with no response. This is by far the most unacceptable place I've ever stayed at! I can over look the small stuff, but the fact my door would not securely lock and not having a working phone in the room, is definitely a major safety issue. These are serious code violations! I spent over $70 for 1 night, I should be compensated for the stress and unsatisfactory accommodations, but this establishment has ignored me, dismissed me and has treated me as if my safety was of no concern to them. Which as a paying guest I deserved to feel comfortable and safe.FYI, I could not just leave this hotel that night, it was an emergencythat I had with my vehicle and had to stay, I'm from out of town, and had no...
