We have a Thousand Trails membership. A standard Thousand Trails campground is not usually in the best location (close to local attractions), bad cell signal/speed, questionably available amenities, and uncaring employees. Basically, you learn to lower your expectations. So that being said, we were pleasantly surprised with Gateway to Cape Cod. Signal was usually good. Pool was fine, snack shack was a great addition, playground was in great shape. Just under an hour from Cape Cod, hour and a half (taking the T) to Boston. The sites where mostly level (some are VERY unlevel but the majority were fine). Our water didn’t work right away but one of the Johns was right there to get it working for us. Sites have decent space between them especially for outside Boston. Just be prepared for sap on your things forevermore. Also not far from New Bedford (Whaling Museum, national park building with a great informational video, fire museum - call before to check if it’s actually open, Noah’s Playground, Pier 3 with restaurants, ferry to Nantucket/Martha’s Vineyard). Close to some local grocery stops or Shaw’s, coffee/place to work. They had great weekend activities for kids (like the carnival day). Office isn’t always open when they say they will be which was pretty frustrating. Hope to be back one day!

After years of flooding you would think they would have some sort of solution to this major problem. We saw a very large class a that had water half way up their tire. Between that and the massive amount of trees you can barely navigate without fear of damaging your rig. There are a ridiculous amount of run down permanent sites it’s unreal. We had a SNAKE hanging out because they allowed the camper in front of us to have so much junk under his camper. Everything is either covered in tree debris or sand or mud. And there’s just random trash everywhere. Stick to section A if you want the least amount of permanent run down sites to stay by. The front desk staff are confused and unorganized and unprofessional. It appears no one knows why they’re doing. We’ve traveled full time 4 years and this is one of the top 3 worst places we’ve seen. We also have never had to go buy more sewer hose but the site is laid out so stupid that we had to get 15 more feet of hose. TT needs to get a clue about the state of their campgrounds.

Stayed 4 nights for free as part of our Thousand Trails membership. Full hookups (50amp, water, sewer). Water pressure was ok, not great at 45psi. Cell service was pretty minimal. AT&T was barely usable. Verizon was sometimes good enough to stream, other times hardly there. We arrived on a sunny day and immediately noticed that we were kicking up a lot of dust as we drove around looking for a site. The next day it rained and we ended up with a nice little pond surrounding our rig that took a couple days to dry. So we either had sand blowing around or wet sand coming in the rig. Either way, prepare for a lot of cleaning. The site was reasonably level but it was a bit tricky getting around the trees and all the tree roots. Location worked out well for some day trips to the Cape and the surrounding area. Walmart, Target and other stores are within 15 minutes.

Like others have mentioned in these reviews, the road coming in to the campground is terrible, and apparently according to the reviews it has been this way a while. When you first get to the campground there is a gate to you have to call to get the code so you can get in.

Once you go register be ready to go find your own site... And good luck, the staff at the desk doesn't know which sites are open, because they admit it. First campground that I have ever reserved a spot where I had to go find my own spot and there wasn't a site reserved for me.

The fire pit had what I assume was the previous campers trash in it. Not a good look to have garbage in the fire pits.

Good news they have Wi-Fi which had good signal and good speed, bad news you have to pay for it. The only campground on our three week trip where we had to pay for Wi-Fi

As we were traveling for a couple of weeks we used the laundry room. The laundry room was unclean it appeared the the floor had not been swept in quite some time. The pipes from bathroom above leaking causing multiple puddles and slip hazards, but hey they did have a floor wet sign under a table out of view. Because of the leaking, the drop ceiling tiles were removed which exposed the dryer vents which showed a build up lint which had not been cleaned for a while.

This campsite is also apart of the Thousand Island camping membership, which they will continue to call you and try to get you to join even though you have previously told them that you weren't interested. And if this campground is any indication as to the types of campgrounds that are in the Thousand Isands, I certainly wouldn't join.

If I am ever in this area again I will certainly find...

Staff here was great but their procedures are not. There is no reservation system so when we arrived at 1:30 PM we had to search for an available site. We were towing a 36' travel trailer and most of the roads are bumpy due to tree roots and water erosion. Made for a rough ride even at 5 mph. Eventually an employee helped us find a site we could fit on. Since there is no kind of system in place we had a site we could barely fit on and had to park our tow vehicle half in the road while the guy next to us was using a larger site for a 15' camper and SUV. The sewer was located in the front of the site while our hook up is towards the rear so couldn't reach with our stinky slinky. The site also had waist high tree stumps. On our last day we had to drive out into the road so that we could hook up and dump because there is no dump station. There are tall pine trees everywhere in this campground and there is very little room for error. Several of the tress were damaged because it is difficult to navigate in between trees, tall tree stumps, and uneven dirt roads. There is access to a pond with a dock but when we were there the water looked too low to launch a canoe. The campground does allow pets which I think is great but since they don't have any kind of system they are not contained to one area. Needless to say this caused barking at all hours throughout the campground. The one thing I really liked was the location of this campground. Its about a 30 minute drive to...

Whoever gives this place 5 stars hasn't been to many campgrounds if you don't have the membership you pay 77 bucks a night for security that drives through your site telling you fires out at midnight even though its only 1045 no water pressure for 1 of the 2 days we were there someone that worked there came around telling us to fill our tanks because it happens all the time if your tent camping one of the bathrooms is closed so good luck and the same night security guard telling us we couldn't have a hammock on the trees even though there was 2 other campsites with the same hammocks on the trees the whole time i was there the rules say no clotheslines nowhere did it say no hammocks the hammock was up all day no one that worked the day shift said anything about it so apparently the rules change when the night security comes to work plus people leaf\dirt blowing on and off the 2 days i was there blowing dust everywhere something that you think they would have done before they opened for the season has a mini golf on the map i couldn't locate it anywhere in the campground camp store is virtually empty so good luck if you forget anything I've been to quite a few campgrounds in the last 5 years i don't know how anyone gives this place 5 stars alot of the seasonal campsites\cabins are run down looking yea for the price there's a lot better...
