The view was nice and the camping spots were nice however I was carried away from my camper 3 times but the atrocious amount of bugs. I mean ranging for 1mm to 1ft in length. The little bugs sneak up and bite you in the neck and you blood like a sacrificed goat. The horse flies were nearly 1ft in length and weighed roughly 2lbs. They came in swarms like single baby moms at the ebt office. Mosquitos were so bad I had to get 2 quarts of blood the following monday. The lake had less fish than Walmart. I fished for 3 days and caught 6 fish, sadly They were smaller than the bugs. 8 wouldn't recommend it for families with children let alone anyone whom...

It's a nice park. Or at least used to be. I used to love going there as a kid. But these days it's gotten pretty rundown. Dead trees everywhere, plaques that are turning black from the elements, trees blocking the views right beside rotten benches where one of the best views to take in used to be. There are plenty of beautiful things to see today. But they even tore down the swing sets that used to be close to the beach area, which in itself is alright, but the buoys that used to be there to mark out the swimming area are gone. This park will always be a price of my childhood, and it truly saddens me to see it fall into...

All the recent reviews I read said this place was a mosquito haven. Not sure what happened, but I found very few mosquitoes. I would turn around and see 10 or 20 behind me at most. The black flies are here though. If you wear bug spray they won't bite you, but they are scary if you see them behind you. Stick to the shore if you want to avoid as many bugs as possible, it's more scenic and less wet anyways. The bear track trail is a little waterlogged in places, and I had to cut through the woods to get around the trail. The lake is awesome though, and the several viewpoints along it's shore are worth taking...

Hayes Lake State Park, a thirty-minute drive from Roseau's city center, is a lovely forested park. It offers several natural surface hiking trails, including the 4-mile one-way, interpretive Pine Ridge trail that meanders around Hayes Lake through a pine forest🌲, a brief boardwalk traversing a bog, a two-mile one-way Bear Track trail, and a four-mile one-way Moose Ridge trail. It is an excellent destination for those interested in birdwatching 🐦 and wildflowers 🌸 The park is a stark contrast to the flat, expansive farm fields in the area. It's a hidden gem πŸ’Ž

The place is very cute. Excellently clean. The roadway is not paving but quite passable. Fresh air. The water not so clean, I mean had green slime. It is cold depending on the time of year. Very distant in my opinion. Very lonely, wild animals could be seen, so be very careful. Bring enough fuel and groceries. There is nothing close for about 45 minutes or more. Really a unique experience but I achieved it because I lived close to it, otherwise it would not be worth it for the distance. But if you love forests this would be your place

If you want peace, quiet, seclusion and a break from the fast pace of the world trying to keep up with the internet, this park is perfect! We stayed for a week the third week of September and basically had the park to ourselves, perfect. Good well maintained hiking trails, large campsites and the sounds of nature was just what we needed.
