Bad experience!! We rented cabin 1 month in advance. When we get there at 2:45 (check in is at 3) no one was in there to check us in. Called the number could not get a person to answer. We also called 2 hours before arriving at the park. Left message and no call back. When to check on our cabin there was someone still at the cabin we rented. (Check out is at 1) Flagged down a worker they called the ranger and they couldn't contact the people in cabin 1 so they moved us to cabin 2. Next morning they are doing ground maintenance causing our grounds to get dusky. Next morning 8am there are many people with leaf blower and industrial size blowers blowing all the old leafs and dust all over. Thank goodness we had picked up the night before or all our gear would have got dust and leafs all over it (cook wear, life jackets etc). It was so bad we couldn't be outside because the dust was so bad it was causing my kids to cough and dust in their eyes! We couldn't cook outside. Couldn't feed our kids breakfast. And couldn't leave because one of the people parked their truck and trailer behind our cars. (In photos) so this is the 2nd day we got dusted out. There were so many blowers it was so loud. So much for a peaceful father's day weekend. The volunteers told us that the park told them no one was staying in the cabins. We got frustrated and left a day early. When returning the key and tell them about our horrible experience. They didnt understand why we're were leaving a day early and they do not issues refunds. they knew we were there and still had these people doing leafs clean up. So we are out of $60 for Saturday. Will...
Read moreWe rented a large cabin and the place was great. Just be aware that the cabins are 1 room so there where 5 bunk beds and a single bed in an open area. They are doing some construction in the park but the noise was limited to earlier daytime. Very quite park. I believe all the sites have lake access. As well as drinking water. Keep In mind that it's about 50yrd to the water so a heavy kayak will be tough but a boat ramp is also in the park. One of the nicest I've seen. 3 ramps total and I had to leave 3 nice kayaks with motor and batteries and fishing gear there for several hours as we were packing up to leave and a storm popped up. To my surprise everything was still there. One of the hidden gems. It's very affordable fun for the whole family. Or could be a Romantic getaway for the parents. Locals tell me they are gonna start allowing private docks on the lake and if so this treasure will be gone. So go soon. Oh and the store and grill at the end of the road is good. They have a little outdoor shop connected to it as well and if you need tackle or anything and that is closed they will open and allow u to go in. Nice people running the park. We had to upgrade from a small to a large cabin and they handled that perfectly. Also my water pump went out on my truck so had to replace that at the cabin and took a little while extra but I called the ranger and since there was nobody behind us they allowed us to use the cabin while I fixed my truck since it started storming. They could've easily charged us another day but did not. So if your on the fence about this...
Read moreWe rented two cabins at Mayo Lake Park on August 27th and 28th. There were 13 of us in total, 8 grandkids and 5 adults. It was nothing short of awesome.! The cabins and bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The other visitors were pleasant and it was an overall great experience. Mr. Street, the park manager, went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed, including a canoe.! He is to be commended for his hospitality and pleasant disposition. I can't say enough good things about our experience during this camping trip with the kids. We will be making this park an annual family outing. Thanks Mayo Park and thank you Mr. Street for your hard work...
