8/9/23. I love camping here. There are electric sites right on the lake (39E and 40E). Unfortunately there was a toxic blue/green algal bloom while I was there and so swimming was not safe. You can rent canoes/kayaks, and the launch jetty is situated in a reedy corridor out to the lake. At this spot the birding was fantastic. In addition there is Aspen parkland with an interpretive trail. Purple blazing star was in full bloom in the prairie. The staff were extremely friendly.

Very nice park. Lake Bronson is the only lake around and place is bustling with activity. Has good picnic areas. Beach area was nice and had a volleyball ball court. Trails and bike paths are good and well maintained and good signage. Has a small observation tower and visitor center. Big spacious campgrounds too. Beware of poison ivy of the trails. Overall this place is an oasis in flat NW Minnesota.

Definitely worth a trip to this state park. Don't have much experience with the drive in campground other than a quick walk through but highly recommended the hike in locations. River Sandhole is right on the trail so if you want to have privacy then I would go with either Old Ranch or River Meadow. For the hammockers reading this, both those two also have good trees for a 12' hammock or 2.

We stayed at Lake Bronson State Park over Labor Day weekend and were not very impressed with the whole experience.

PROS: Very pretty lake Mature trees Level pads

CONS: HORRIBLE customer service No water hookups Terrible drainage

We originally wanted to stay in sites 43 and 44 but were advised by the campground not to stay there because those sites typically hold water. We instead reserved 3 and 15...what a mistake that was! The weather that weekend was very rainy and our campsites flooded with enough water that we floated 3 people around in our Jon Boat without hitting bottom. Every time we stepped outside we were buried above our ankles with water/mud.

Now obviously nobody can control the weather, we understand that. But what can be controlled is the drainage in the park. We went to the office at 8 in the morning to ask about moving spots, which they were very open to. Unfortunately there were no desireable spots available to we decided to stay put and asked if they were able to pump the water out of our site. The Park Ranger said "if we do it for you we would have to do it for everyone". I let him know that he wouldn't have to do it for everyone because we were in fact the only flooded site in our loop. Unfortunately he said there was nothing they could do and only wished us luck.

Several hours later we went back to the office and asked again what could be done. At this point two of the people in our party had slipped into holes under the water and one had twisted their ankle, it was becoming a safety hazard. The office said someone would be over within an hour to pump us out (where was that offer the first time). 3 hours later we still hadn't been pumped out so my wife went to the office and asked what the status was and what could be done about just getting a refund. The employee working said "oh, I didn't realize you were in such a hurry"...really?! Who wants to camp in ankle deep water?? After he was very condescending to my wife he said he would get us a gift card that could be used in any MN state park but he didn't know how to do it so he would have to call someone and then get it to us. Needless to say, that never happened.

The ranger and maintenance personnel did finally show up with pumps to clear our spot but had trouble using them. By the time we finally got pumped out it had been almost 10 hours since my initial visit to the office.

I understand that weather can't be controlled, but clearly this campground has NO backup plan for their poor drainage situation and even less of a plan on how to take care of its customers. There are countless campgrounds to choose from in MN, you would think this one would appreciate the business.

Needless to say we won't be heading back to Lake Bronson anytime in...

Friendly staff, we visited July 22nd 2021.

We were told there were Bear sightings so we were on the lookout.

We went to hike to the 2 pioneer cemeteries and passed by 3 of the backpack sites very hot and humid (we joked that the pioneer cemetery was going to have two more guests along with their dog) we weren't sure we could make it to the 2nd pioneer cemetery which was .6 miles further and after a lengthy rest for us and our Black Lab mix we started back.

The hike was under full sun and while there was some breeze it was quite a hellish hike, our dog went from one patch of shade to the next and took ample time to drink water and take a break from the sun.

Between the 3rd and 2nd backpack site our dogs ears perked up and was walking faster and my wife asked what got into dog and just as we were going up hill I could see a young bear that was about waist high blocking the path but we made some noise and it didn't want to be around us any more than we wanted it around.

Not too many visitors in the campground and swimming beach was still manicured without so much as a footprint when we ate our lunch at around 1PM, very strange considering last time we visited it was so packed you couldn't find a spot to...

We Camped in Sept of 2016. Very nice Camp ground lake is really nice and its very peaceful and quiet here. Did not get to see the Northern lights missed them but one night. Sky was perfect at night worth the trip to see all the stars you dont see this in the city. Showers are a bit dated but not terrible. Restrooms are clean. It does have WiFi works better in the morning. This is very remote so very little cell service and not many tv siginals. Not Complaining just letting you know if you want to watch a little tv. Close to town. There is one large modern gas station Convince store. And one small...
