My husband and I came to Northwest Alabama for dual purpose trip. One for a plant tour of Tiffin Motorhomes in Red Bay, Alabama and then for some very much needed R&R. In our search for a place to stay my husband came upon the cabins at Elliott Branch Cabins. Boy am I so glad we found this Absolutely Beautiful recreation area at Little Bear Creek Reservior! After checking-in at the campground store/office you head into the campground and make a left at the very first loop of camp sites. You need to drive through one of the camping loops to access the cabins. After coming out of the camping loop you'll see the cabins, listed by number's starting on the left.
We stayed in Cabin #7. It's the very first cabin to the left as you drive in. It was Very Clean! It's a very large, two bedroom single level, open space cabin where the living and kitchen areais all in one large open concept area. There are plenty of windows allowing for lots of natural light and views of the lake, the playground, the swimming beach. It's a two bedroom cabin with a large spaced room with a full size bed and closet is located adjacent to the front door and the bathroom. The second bedroom, with a very comfortable king bed is located at the back of the cabin right off the living room. It also has one dresser and a nice closet. I will say that they aren't decorated with tons of picture's, figures of bears, deer, shelves, etc. It's a basic cabin for eating, sleeping, sitting on the big porch listening to the kids at the playground or beach. We watched a family of geese, killdeer or the beautiful swallows seek shelter from predator birds or from the heat. We watching the satellite tv to catch up on the news, watch a show or two. We were away from the cabin often to take advantage of the Beautiful Views of the lake, fish or head to Red Bay for business. It was always nice to return to at the finish of the day.
If utilizing the cabin's they ask you to bring with you: Paper Towels, Garbage Bags, your own bath towels and kitchen towels to use after using up the ones provided.
The only downfall's for us were the following:
The deodorizer the cleaner's used before we arrived. I suffer from a severe pain condition that causes all of my sences to be hyper. Therefore the slightest smell for you might be magnified by me.
If the weather was cooler it sure would have been nice to open the window's to let some fresh air in. We couldn't because we couldn't open some of the window's from lack of use. The one's you could open the screns frames were bent, broken or the screens were torn.
The other was the old pots and pans provided for use. Now mind you, these cabins have been around for some time, but they are very well cared for. I really hope someone could donate a gently used set of cookware to switch out the quite old, stained, hard to clean cookware they're currently using. We'd be more than happy to do so but we don't know when we'll be returning.
In closing, this entire place is Fantastic! Such a Beautiful, Quiet and Enjoyable place to come to rest rejuvenate and start new...
Read moreI didn't go to the camp. I went to the beach. Beautiful views and nice water. I'm not a fan of BCAC or whatever. You need a permit to do anything, and it isn't exactly cheap for what you are getting. $8 a person to use your public park is ridiculous. Selective harassment for permits and a $200 fine if you don't have one for using your park. It's disgusting. With that kind of money, I would expect a much nicer beach. Outside of the tyrants running this place, it is a beautiful location. Wide open views and perfect for the leaves changing 👌 Nice parking lot with spots for boats, trailers, and cars. It's not too trashy. Be a better person, and if you throw pull tabs and beer caps on the beach or in the water, don't go. There are ample trash cans, so stop being so lazy and respect your park. They aren't going to clean up after you, and they shouldn't have to. Maybe quit asking us to pay you for what we already pay for and use your goons to issue littering tickets to offset your taxpayer funds as well as keep the water and park clean. I'm sure you could issue a few thousand a day on busy days in fines. Also when checking for your stupid permit, do everyone. Not just 1 or 2 of 20 people. I've been to 4 of your beaches and I have been harrased at each while nobody else on the beach had to prove they paid. BECAUSE WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TOO PAY FOR WHAT WE...
