I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone, this place isn’t even fit for a caveman. I have never felt so belittled in my life. Upon entering the main office I was given a poor first impression. She didn’t greet me, and I had to initiate the conversation. I asked the woman if they take cards to which she replied with an attitude “we’ve never taken cards here.” When I entered the campground I was passing through, going the 5 mph speed limit, and a camper told me to SLOW DOWN. As I continued further down there was a large confederate flag hanging at a campsite. I was very upset and pulled over to the side and put my hazards on and an elderly man (an employee) came to me and stared at me for a while without speaking. We spoke but I had to initiate the conversation once again. As I reached my destination I was very upset and informed my family I wouldn’t be staying because of the discomfort I felt being there. As I was leaving THREE different people told me to slow down, even though i was going the speed limit. I hadn’t even had enough time to press the gas between the amount of times i was told to SLOW DOWN. After I left through the gates I was greeted by the same woman from the office who yelled at me to “SLOW DOWN, there are a lot of kids here and the speed limit is 5 mph....and that includes this area” (referring to the entrance of the campground) I gave her my coin that she gave me to get in and walked away, as soon as I got in my car she pulled out her walkie talkie and said “they’re leaving and not coming back” I felt belittled, harassed, and unwelcome. Last but not least, I would just like to say that I received excellent service from their employee Jeremy who helped me handle the situation and asked if I was upset and apologized for the situation. If they had any sense they would hire more people like him and fire the ones that plummet...
Read moreOn the weekend of the 18th, family and friends and I had a nice visit, but not because of the friendly nature of the staff at this place, but because of each other. The staff needs lessons in basic common manners! We are of the older generation and respectable people. The treatment we received was incredibly disrespectful in many ways. I was called a liar very loudly by a young staff member with his finger pointing in my face over something insignificant. One of our friends that came to visit was accosted by a bunch of crazy people wielding flashlights directly into her vehicle and screaming at her for going 6 miles per hour. I might add that golf carts were flying around that place at a pace of more than 5 miles per hour!! I observed an SUV with a guy in a wheel chair holding onto the back of it with a small child standing on the back of the wheelchair going over 5...that should be more of an issue than anything I saw there! Nothing was done about that! The yelling and reprimanding of campers was indeed over the top. We went there for a restful and peaceful weekend, not to be observed constantly by staff. Some of the seasonal campers were pulling out because of the treatment they received there. Does that not say something? We did not partake in any camp activities as we were leary of leaving our campsight. That's a rotten shame. I will be telling friends and family of this experience, and they will also spread the word! News travels fast and this campground will get fewer visitors! This place will be under new management once again if it isn't careful how it treats...
Read morei did like the campground until they just changed the rules. some of which are ridiculus. you cant have a golf cart if your under 55. unless u have a disability. u cant have amplified music. ok i understand some people overdo it. but they should stop them from having it. my cousin and i put on a cookout. with entertainment for some relatives a month ago. singing and karaoke . with the amplified music. it lasted 2 hours.nobody complained. some of the campers either joined us or sat in front of there campers. it takes just one moron to ruin it for everybody. but i think RUTH should have shut them down. and not ruin it for people like us that do it just for a little while for a cookout. my belief is if we cant entertain our guests on our paid campsite for a couple hours. then there should not be any amplified music any where including the rec hall.RUTH, if your gonna make rules then you should abide by them also.because of this i will not return to the pout and trout.i did like it until this rule. thank u david keyes
