Camp Cold Springs Review Long Review “Must Read” Don’t want anyone else to go through the treatment we got from the employee’s The park is really nice & well maintained. It was family friendly we all felt safe to let our kids run free… The location on the Frio River was great with easy river access from the RV spots. All was well that our friends & families were having a great time. Until we had a power outage from a summer storm. Everyone was outside of there campers as no one could take showers & Air Conditioning was not working. We had to power up our generators on the RV & shared power with our neighbors.. The power went down at 6:30 pm that Friday evening.. So we made the best of the situation. Around 10:30 that evening we still had no power. The kids were out playing. One of the park workers came by to tell us about our Radio being too loud. So we respectfully turned it down. Then about 30 minutes later he came by again saying it was too loud again. We completely turned it off at that point.. Also at that point we noticed that he was in coherent or not in his right state of mind being under the influence of something. 20 minutes after that he came back in his golf cart flying. He hit the brakes and slid for 15 feet leaving skidmarks in the middle of the road. Almost running over one of our kids. The speed limit in the park is 5 miles an hour. There was no way he was doing approved speed limit to leave a skidmark that long. Then he was really running his mouth and wouldn’t listen to nobody. Another 30 minutes passed by. He came back in his truck after doing donuts in the park on the other section where nobody was camped at. We seen him coming back through. Got the kids out the way. One of the adults try to get him to stop to talk and he almost ran him over with his truck, peeling out and burning rubber. The worker never came back after that. The power came back on at 1:30 am Saturday morning. The next morning, we get a text message from the Campground. Stating this message “Good morning campers, thank you for your understanding during our power outage last night. I apologize that we were not able to communicate better as our messaging system works on wifi and cell service is almost void down here in the valley. I also want to apologize for the quiet hours not be observed by some guests. This will not happen again tonight.” We went to go talk to the office & Amanda was in there which she is the wife of the man running around the night before. She would not even at look us or make eye contact with us or talk to us about anything. The other lady sold us some ice. We did not see the man at all that Saturday. As we were leaving the park he stopped us & apologizing for his actions of that night. Continued asking for my forgiveness. I told him if he would have hit somebody with the way he was driving “would that adult or child been given a second chance? “ I respectfully told him we could NOT accept his apology. Then drove off . He went to our other campers that were with us in our group. To say the exact same thing. Like he had 36 hours of rehearsing his apology..

This is a long review about my stay at Camp Cold Springs in Concan, TX the weekend of July 26th - July 28th, 2024. PLEASE READ TO ENSURE YOU STAY SOMEWHERE WHO CARES ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!! Just minutes after us checking in early evening we had no power. Along with no power, brought no water to shower and or use the restroom. The staff sent a text at 7:47PM saying power would be back on by 8:05PM. If power was not restored we would be brought ice to save our food, well that didn't happen. I texted the emergency number at 9:33PM asking for an update on the power outage, no response other then an automated text that they will get back to me during business hours. BUT THIS WAS THIER EMERGECNY NUMBER?! I texted again at 10:02PM, no reply. My 5 young children were up well after midnight crying because they were miserable from it being so hot in our RV. I finally packed up some things, leaving my husband at our campsite to watch over our things while my children and I went to Uvalde to get a hotel room. Fast forward to Saturday when we get back to our camp site. My brother and sister n law arrived to spend the day with us. They parked their car around 12:35PM to change in our RV and unloaded their belongings. At 12:55PM I get a text from the camp site, which I didn't see till about an hour later about us having an extra car at our area. You are only allowed one car or you will be charged a $20 fee. Now the car was not in the way of anyone or effecting the flow of traffic by any means and was moved within 45 minutes. They were more worried about an extra car then keeping their promises from the night before, to help save their campers food and to do their best to help anyway they could. I am sad to say I have reached out to them twice in regards to a partial refund for my weekend stay, as I had to get my young children to a room with AC so they could get some rest. But I have yet to hear from any management in regards to this. I find this very poor customer service. The camp site is beautiful and a nice spot but myself nor any of my family will be back to this place. Customer service should be their top priority and it is not. They do not care to keep their guests comfortable and do not keep their promises to help during a tough situation. Because the customer service is so terrible I am not sure how anyone would want to stay here. Save your money and stay somewhere else that cares about providing excellent customer service to their guest.

We stayed here last year and enjoyed it. Both times, we stayed during the week. They have a beautiful and pristine location on the Frio River in Concan, TX. They no longer allow canopies at the river because people abused it; however, it's really nicer without all the canopies destroying the scenery. Canopies really aren't needed since there is ample tree shade on the opposite side of the river. It's an easy walk across; you can sit in the water near the opposite bank and be in the shade. (The opposite side of the river is private property, so stay in the river itself and not on the opposite bank.)||If you walk upstream just passed the bend, there are some falls/rapids. Kids enjoy walking up the side of the rapids and going down on tubes. On the El Rods side of the river and on their bank is a large rock that the kids like to jump from into the river. It's very easy to keep an eye on the older ones in the deeper water and on the big rock while staying next to the little ones in the shallow water. The campground itself is clean, and the grass is kept short. They have an office with a small store inside. I did not look in the store very much, but they have ice, t-shirts, toilet paper, snacks, etc. The shady spots are beautiful, but I can see where they could be a muddy mess when it rains. The pads are the black gravel, fairly new, and as level as gravel can be. Picnic tables are large. Most sites have a fire ring and/or barbecue pit. If your site is missing one, let them know. I have found the owners to be accommodating. Restrooms are clean and appear fairly new. They do not provide toilet paper or soap in the restrooms; bring a bag with both if/when you visit the restrooms. It wasn't clear which side was men's or women's, so we just picked one and hoped we were correct. We never ran into anyone else in the restrooms while we were there. Speed limit and general behavior are strictly enforced. I felt comfortable letting my children ride through the campground on their bikes with other campers' children. This place is very family-friendly. We saw lots of other families outdoors cooking and playing outdoor games, visiting, bike-riding, and enjoying the outdoors. They now have guest WiFi. I didn't get a good signal in my camper (my site was toward the middle of the shady section), but I got good service while outdoors at my site. I was able to check e-mail, send texts, and make wifi calls home. We enjoyed our time camping here with our family, and we...
