Love Hotels on the St John River at Fort Kent ME — Hotel in Saint John Plantation

SCAM! We arrived at our designated check in time and found the property was boarded up, and falling apart. There was no one on the grounds. We called Expedia to report it and they said that they reached out to OYO who claimed their cancellation policy was firm, so there would be no refund. Oddly, the window for cancellation was at 12 noon on the day of check-in, but check-in time was 2 pm or later. We had NO WAY of knowing the hotel was closed until we arrived--ON TIME-- but AFTER their cancellation policy window. We challenged the charge through our credit card company, but OYO is claiming we were a no-show (go figure), so we were the ones to break the contract. In reality, THEY broke the contract by having no hotel and no room for us to occupy. We have reported this to the Fort Kent Police and Chamber of Commerce and are in the process of escalating it to the Maine Attorney General's office. DO NOT book this hotel under ANY...

My family, friend ,and I took a road trip up from Massachusetts because my friend used to live in key west and he's been to the end of rt u.s. 1 and his bucket list was to go to the other end in fort kent and we planned on staying in the truck over night or find a hotel. With seven of us, it wasn't easy to find a hotel for decent money, then I found Saint John River Resort and it was perfect for us!!!. We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment and it was clean and spacious and accommodated all of us with ease. We star gazed at night and we were told we could use the fire pit but we never got to that. We were only there for one night and wished we had more time to stay but we will definitely be back when we have a week or so because the ride is an 8 1/2 hr ride but definitely worth it for us to come back!!! Booked a cabin 9 months in advance. I found out 6 weeks before my trip that the state condemned the cabin until it was brought up to code. The "management" never reached out to inform me about this - luckily I found out from a friend. I called this "resort" and was informed by the "management" that I could either take a hotel room or get a refund. I chose the refund and the booking agency agreed. Love hotels did not follow through with the refund and later first told me that it was impossible to cancel and then to wait a while longer for the refund. Their lies and deceit resulted in many calls between myself, the booking agency, and love hotels with the final result being that love hotels agreed to a 50% refund. They never followed through with this. They even had the unmitigated gall to charge me a cleaning fee when I have never set foot on their garbage heap...
