Shadowy Saint Joe Campground — Hotel in Saint Maries

Scenic campground right on the river. No hiking trails nearby though. There is a well maintained boat launch on site for boaters and anglers, as well as a day use picnic shelter. Campsites themselves are fairly spacious with large, flat, grassy areas for all kinds of lawn recreation. You must bring your own firewood if you want a campfire (they supply fire rings). Quiet during week, very nice camp host. Large sites. Plenty of room for multiple tents. 2019. Now for July/ August 2020. Loud, no camp host, in this time of covid, the vault toilets were not cleaned the whole week we were there, even though the Forest employees came by. We are tent campers who like camping in dense forest, so this campground was not a good fit for us. We didn't stay - we just checked it out and moved on. This place has a mowed lawn and a giant birch tree, so it seems like camping in suburbia. It has a boat launch and an event space (big tables under a shelter).
