This is lengthy but inclusive of our experience.
Easy to book a spot online. Entry point to the camp ground is a little tight but manageable. They have an employee lead you to your spot which is nice. The spot we had was ok to nice. Level gravel parking so it was easy to level our RV. The sewage, electric, water and cable hookups were easy to connect to. The spots are close. With our slide out extended (3 foot) and our canopy extended it pretty much took up the spot width wise. Length was tight. Had enough room to pull our truck in sideways in front of the RV. The open area that is left for the fire ring is about 10-15 square feet. No trees for shade.
If you are looking for a quiet relaxed atmosphere then this is NOT the place to go. There is a lot to do though. Pool, bingo, game room, small store, ice cream parlor and some other stuff we had no idea how to get info on. A weekly scheduled given at check in would be nice or at the least inform you where to get the information. The golf cart situation is just plain dangerous. No one does the speed limit or uses stop signs, to include the staff we saw using carts. If you enjoy walking DON’T. The golf cart drivers pay no attention to anything. While walking we were forced off the side of the road several times because the golf cart was surely not going to move over any. Coming out of the community building after bingo was insane. The lady walking behind us was almost run over. She screamed and the driver just sped on by with no care given. The roads are narrow so it can be difficult to navigate with a truck and RV. Again the golf carts act like it is their road and make it difficult for full size vehicles to drive. A suggestion would be to make some of the roads one way only.
The rules for the camp ground appear to be just suggestions because none are enforced. Loud music at 7 AM. Obviously under age drivers of golf carts. Speeding in golf carts. Excessively honking golf cart horns durning quiet hours. Alcohol outside of the individual camp spots. Drinking alcohol at the pool. Not even trying to hide it by passing cases of beer over the fence. Throwing away a liquor bottle after emptying it into a large cup with soda at the door of the community building. Obviously drunk individuals at bingo.
The cell coverage there is not good at all. That is not their fault. The free WiFi and cable are very inconsistent with their signal strength. While the cable is no big deal it would be nice to have reliable WiFi so you can actually use a cell phone. When we could get connected, after trying for numerous times, it would disconnect almost immediately. Most of the time we could not even connect to the WiFi.
This “camp ground” is more for seasonal “campers”. Most spots are permanently parked campers or small mobile type homes. We ended up leaving a night early because it was...
Read moreBesides Las Vegas, this is the largest most impressive pool I've ever experienced. I can tell from people's Past reviews of a few years prior that this Campground had a different management company, but the new owners have been putting all of the money back into this facility. I did not see any cracks or leaks in the pool, no news tonight on there might be, it is absolutely Majestic and the grounds are very well-kept. I have been too many campgrounds around this one, and I must say going to moan when you pull in the gate the staff is extremely courteous and make you feel welcome. I live right up the road so I have been coming to this pool as well as my other favorite Yogi Bear. I read reviews of people talking about this being a majority permanent member Campground and they only talk about the people that are coming for the weekend, and I can't see that being any further from the truth. Maybe it's because I seem fun or outgoing but this is the third time I've been here and I'm reading this review right now the first hour I'm at the pool because the people in the chairs next to me do they have never seen me before and actually invited me over for lunch for barbecued ribs. I have been invited to dinner to people's sites the past two times I've been here this month as well. People are extremely friendly and I can't say enough good things about the experiences I see here. There are kids, and alot of golf carts yes, but to me that is just part of a very fun happy community and I think anybody would feel welcome here. I consider myself a well-traveled person, and I can only agree with the Positive reviews I have read over the past couple years. A few of the negative ones I have read Kama I just can't see how those people would be that critical. To be honest with you I can think of three campgrounds besides this one or have seen the state police show up to at least once, no big deal. If anything, they're on staff pool lifeguards are constantly walking around and talking to all of the guests and there are a lot of stuff here and they are all labeled and easy to see. Today there's someone on stage carving wooden statues, and also able to make personalized signs and people seem to love that as an afternoon treat. They are known to have a great weekend and and yes they do play Loud until 11:30 but I prefer entertainment and that is the perfect time for me to be up to on a weekend so I think that is perfect as well. I'm fortunate enough to only live a few miles away and I found this gem. Between here and Yogi Bear Mill Run, I'm a very lucky person to have both of these sites within a few minutes Drive anytime I want to kick back and relax. I can't pick a favorite because they are both fantastic and Excel in...
Read moreWe traveled to the area to stay closer to the our family reunion. We have had no luck with campgrounds in the Laurel Highlands area because they are not big rig friendly. We decided to give Mountain Pines a chance with high hopes this could be the one that works but we were wrong.
Our 5th wheel is 46 ft long. The enterence is all wrong and not prepared for weekenders coming to stay. This place is 80% seasonal campers and set up for those only coming in with their vehicles. Those arriving with their RVs have a bigger struggle.
When we arrived we were asked to pull our 46ft 5th wheel into the over flow parking lot that was full of vehicles to do the loop to wait for someone to drive us to our site. The gate should have two enterence lanes, one for RVs and another for vehicles.
Our site was D41, the only pull thru in the campground. The site is laid out completely wrong leaving the great yard space behind the camper. The site length was great but to pull thru to leave, you can't make a left without taking out trees and landscaping. If you make a right and follow it out to the next T, then you still can't swing wide and avoid the giant boulders they have on the ground to avoid grass area. To leave we backed out our site to the adjoining road to make a wider right turn.
Because this campground is mostly permanents they think they own the place and instead of being accommodating while your leaving and avoiding your road because it's only single lanes they will try to share ur lane. If you sit there long enough they will move.
The decorative patch separating the lanes to get out has got to go. Big rigs can't swing wide to avoid running over it so we went out the in. The weekenders like their roofs not to leak so cut the tree limbs leaving the park. We hit every single one.
Our neighbors next to us were also worried about how they too were gonna navigate out of the park. The weren't much shorter and admitted they struggled getting in as well. The sites aren't angled to the road, but they are at least staggered from the sites across from you.
This place does have plenty for you to do. A great outdoor pool. Camp store is well stocked. The park is too crowded and only gets worse when is gets dark. Golf carts are overwhelming to the point you get tailgated. Golf carts fight sharing the roads with bikes an people walking. After quiet hrs its still like party central with music playing loud on the carts.
We like a good fun active park but when there are no rules its less enjoyable but the park let's their money makers rule the park. The park puts little care towards the weekenders sites or visitors.
Our daughters family stayed the night with us instead of bringing their camper and we all agreed we will not...
