VIOLATED GDRP and CCPA privacy laws rules and regulations set forth nationwide and in the state of california. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!

They contacted my employer and defamed me due to an email I sent to the hotel concerning terrible customer service I received by Adriana. They will face steep legal consequences for doing so.

Adriana-I called to cancel my personal reservation. She thought it was ok the raise her voice at me and threaten to cancel both my work and personal reservation-even hung up the phone on me. When she started raising her voice I asked if she was ok. That apparently made her even more mad so I asked to speak with a manager. She told me she was the manager, there was no one above her. Apparently that made her even madder, so I asked if Mr. Pearlman still owned the property. She told me she owned the property and hung the phone up on me. I waited an hour or so and called back hoping to get someone else a little more professional. She answered and hung up 2 times on me. My husband called and she answered again, he told her not to speak to me in that manner. She threatened to cancel my personal reservation and the one my work made for me.

Appalled at her action, I emailed my compliments and concerns to info and Mr. Pearlman.

4.14.22 I received an email stating the hotel canceled the reservations my work made for me through my personal email. I called and spoke with the very nice new gentleman that checked me in at the beginning of the month. I stayed here previously and had a wonderful experience. He didn't understand what happened so he transferred me to Curly Williams. WHOAAA! Are you serious, you have another unhinged individual as a residential manager. I asked why they cancelled my reservation. Get this-Curly said I 86d you from the hotel due to the email I sent to Mr. Pearlman with my concerns. According to Curly he passed away a few years ago. I asked Curly to provide me the owners info, he refused. I asked if they had legal representation, he said yes but he wouldn't provide that information either.

Curly told me during the conversation he contacted my place of employment to tell them I had been 86d from the hotel due to the concerned email I sent regarding the customer service I received.

This is the way they resolve conflict-they 86 you from the hotel. He was supposed to call me the day after I spoke with Adriana-she obviously lied about being the manager and owner of the hotel. She also said you can contact anyone you want they wont do anything to me. She thinks she is untouchable.

Read the other 1 star reviews which have the way Curly Williams addresses customer service issues.

Now that my name has been smeared and my reputation on the line at my work-I am forced to litigate this matter. I'm hoping for a HUGE settlement and an apology for the racist, retaliatory, demeaning, disrespectful defamatory circumstances.

I went searching on the internet and found Casa Del Zorro LLC Jack McGrory and Casey Brown own it now.

NO HOTEL in their right mind would ever do such a thing to...

We arrived early and our room was ready by 2:00, which was nice. We were hoping to have lunch at a restaurant in the resort, but neither the bar nor restaurant were open until 4pm, so the nice lady at the front desk told us where to eat in town.

I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room we had. The room was spacious and the pool was right outside of our room. For the most part, the room smelled clean, but we later found rotten food along with some critters.

We wanted to take advantage of the main pool as it is the larger pool on the premises, but it was really dirty and had algae forming on the sides of the pool wall. We decided to try the pool by our room instead and it was cleaner than the other pool and not as busy. The pools have limited lounge chairs, only 6 per pool, which is weird. They were all taken, so we put our stuff on the regular chairs but I would have liked to be able to lounge on a chair.

They recently opened a cafe, which is nice. They serve coffee for a hefty price of $9 for a black coffee, breakfast sandwiches, salads, sandwiches, pastries, etc. We had a charcuterie board with various cheeses and it was good. I also had an iced coffee in the morning which was refreshing in the desert heat.

We had dinner twice at the hotel restaurant and I can honestly say do not waste your money, the food is blah. The first night I had stuffed shells, my husband had the prime rib, my son had a cheeseburger, and we had a bottle of Matua Sauvignon Blanc. The Sauv Blanc was $56 and in town, you can get the same bottle for $17, so the second night, we decided to get the food to go instead of dining in the restaurant. I ordered the risotto and my husband ordered the halibut with mango risotto. When we got our food, both my husband and I were bewildered because there was no risotto, it was long grain rice. I called the restaurant and the girl on the phone said, “sorry, that’s all we have tonight”. So basically, I paid $26 for white rice, not cool. I would never eat there again, it was not worth the money. We would have ordered at the bar, but the menu is very limited with only a few options.

They allowed us a late check out, which was great. I wanted to sit by the pool for a few hours before heading back, so I cleaned the pool with the net. I just can not comprehend why they do not have staff to clean the pools daily.

I am not sure I will return to Borrego. I think if I were to do another desert weekend getaway, it would be to Palm Springs. There just isn’t a lot of dining options and the hotel was just okay for me. It would have been nice if there was a bar out by the pool that served food during the day and someone needs to maintain the pools so they are...

Overall a nice place with lush landscaping, extensive water features and pools, including many medium sized pools adjacent to blocks of about 16 rooms, as well as private pools that are rented along with casitas. Great live music in the restaraunt, really talented performers on both of my prior visits. Ownership has changed at least twice in the last decade.

I don’t think I’ll come back until the new owners make a more serious commitment to sustainability. The lights in our room were all the old fashioned incandescent type, I saw a few LEDs in the restaraunt, but overall it felt like this place is going out of its way to waste electricity. I doubt it even makes good business sense to use those lights, it feels like someone is trying to make a statement. There was no evidence of solar electricity being generated, despite extensive undeveloped land owned by the hotel. Finally, none of the heated pools use solar heating, all gas heat. No recycle cans in the rooms. The use of water also seemed gratiuitois, lots of leaking irrigation, with water running down the street. The place used to be owned by a famous conservative newspaper publisher, but that was 10 years ago. The parking lot had a bunch of Priuses and electric cars (no charges for the later that I saw), I think they are out of touch with what many of their guests are looking for. The only commitment the environment I saw was the standard “we will only wash your towels if you limit on the floor note”. I don’t want to reward a place like this with my business.

There we also other small frustration. We also found the service in the restaraunt unusually slow (30 min from ordering to getting our food). I called for room service, had trouble getting through, then was told someone would be over shortly, but it took 5 hours, and when they came they clearly wanted me to say they could leave without cleaning the room. Final gripe: the in-room coffee is very low quality, powdered creamer, etc. for $500 a night I think they could splurge on the...

$1600 for 3 nights in a 2 bedroom 2 bath "Casita" March 2019. The Casita [#71] positives included being a separate space with a small wading pool. The Casita as well is retro-fitted with heat and air which is appropriate. The space is comfortable and adequately furnished with couches, kitchen table, desk, beds, TV's and the standard towels, iron, clock, and some decorations (accoutrements.) There is also a small kitchen sink, coffee maker, some cups, however, no dishes... Additionally, there is a fireplace, and the Casita does have a odor of campfire as the fireplace does allow smoke overflow as we witnessed. The bathrooms are basic, step-in tub/shower. The hot water was not adequate the first night but good the following two nights, so not sure exactly what the issue was? (3) guests and I took the first shower. Daily "maid" service was available if desired. The staff for the most part were all pleasant and attentive. The breakfast buffet is $25 a head. The food quality and quantity was just good, not great, and on the bland side. Presentations are good but again without as much "character" tastes as I like and expect. The weekend entertainment (music) was very good emanating from the bar. The grounds are very well maintained but it appears with the growing/immenent water issues looming for Borrego Springs it will cause this property real and growing water use issues into the future. Casa Del Zorro offers some good choices for activities: tennis, pickle ball, croquet, horse shoes, ping-pong...Overall, the property does try to provide value for the price. It is a historic property and is located well in that it is closer to Julian and close enough to the "downtown.". Pictures have been provided (10). Overall this property rates between 4.0-4.2 stars. A good choice for some, not so for others. Enjoy!

Stay away. Had such a horrible experience at this hotel. While taking a bath I noticed there was blood all over the wall. I hopped out of the bath so quick and ran to the shower legit crying I felt so disgusted. My entire day and vacation was ruined. I immediately called the front desk they sent someone to come clean. I pointed out where the blood was and asked to clean the whole tub. She left after five minutes. Shortly after I went to inspect and there was still blood all over the wall. I called again they sent three cleaning ladies. I left them in the room to clean and came back a few hours later. When I got back the blood was still there. I called for the third time and the manager came back with the head cleaning lady (who was extremely rude and accused me of lying about the situation) the manager offered to change my room and asked me to inspect it “to make sure it’s up to my standards”. This should be up to hotel standards not my standards, especially since it was almost $400 a night. I was brought into the other room and it was a mirror image of the room I was in so I got turned around and confused so I apologized and walked back into the room explaining what happened and the cleaning woman told me I needed to calm down. Considering the situation I was in I was extremely calm, except for the times I cried but I wasn’t screaming or yelling and didn’t appreciate her tone of voice. I am a manager myself and understand how difficult people can be so I tried to be as understanding as possible for this disgusting situation I was in. Later that day I was brought the keys for the new room and wasn’t even offered help with moving the bags to the new room. Extremely disappointed with the services, staff and accommodations made during my visit here. Safe to say I will never be back again.
