My wife and I, along with two other couples, had reservations for April 3-5. We were assigned site 104 and one couple reserved site 105. We were the only occupied campers at the north end of the resort until the afternoon of April 4. We were the furthest campsites from the pools and lazy river.
About 10:30AM on April 4 I noticed low water pressure. A little later in the morning I noticed the water pressure was down to 5 PSI. I called the office and reported it to Rebecca. She was alarmed and said she would be right over. She showed up within a couple of minutes to inform us that they were filling the lazy river and using the resort’s water faucets because the fire hydrant broke. She said the water would be restored in a couple of hours. She offered to turn off the water so we could shower. We told her that was not necessary since it was going to be such a short period.
When the water pressure had not been restored by 2:40 PM I called Rebecca again and she said she would get an update and come to our site. Once again, she arrived within a few minutes to report the water would be restored by 5:00 PM.
At 5:30 PM, the water had not been restored so I called Rebecca. This time she said it would be restored between 6:00 and 6:30 PM.
When our group walked to the game room to play bingo at 6:45 PM the water had not been restored.
At approximately 7:30 PM, I returned to our campsite to see if the water had been restored. The pressure was running about 25 PSI. When I walked back to the game room, I saw two gentlemen working around the pools and lazy river. I asked when the water would be restored. One of the men said he was about to shut off the faucets to restore water to the park.
I reviewed with him the timeline we were told for getting water restored and how each of the benchmarks was not met and we had gone all day without water. He told me the same information that Rebecca had told me earlier in the day. I said that the resort had control over how they treated their guests, and they opted to not support the guest they currently had because of poor planning. The man turned to walk away, and I stated that he may want to make my grievance known to the management. That struck an ill chord with him as he turned and asked me what I said. I repeated it and he reached over with his right hand and slapped me on the left side of my chest and told me he was the owner and I could pack up and leave as far as he was concerned.
I walked back to the game room and let my camping group know what had happened. When I left the game room to return to my campsite he came to the fence and asked me what he was supposed to do in the situation. I told him it was not my concern as I was not the one who set the schedule. But he violated the contract I had with Sanwar RV Resort be not providing a full hookup site for the period I had reserved it for and that under the circumstances he had control over the water supply to the resort.
As he turned to walk away, he once again stated that I was welcome to pack up and leave and not return and he would gladly refund my money. I told him that word-of mouth advertisement was some of the cheapest and most affective advertising available and it was all dependent on how the guest were treated. Also stated to him that this did not only affect me and my friends in site 105, that we had other friends camping in site 66 along with revealing that our camping crew consist of 8 families and his treatment of us will affect future...
Read moreJust got home from Sanwar today. I didn't want to gig them with anything less than 5 stars because it really is a great park. I almost cancelled because it is kind of in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do and not many dining options outside the park. We are very glad we went. We came with 4 other campers. I do have some recommendations for this place but first let me say what we loved. The Lazy River is EPIC! Very nice and long river with 2 wading pools off to the side. There is also a lagoon pool with waterfall and another lagoon type pool for the kids along with splashpad and waterslide. They have a large building called "The Lodge". There is a large open space with lots of tables and chairs and a stage. Around the perimeter it is made to look like and on Western Town with a real functioning "Old School" general store and other faux storefronts like a jail, a barber, a bank etc. and the Ghost Town Saloon is a great place for food and drinks. They had a cornhole competition, a bar-b-que cookoff, live band, fireworks, a community area for kids and a very friendly staff. We loved it and have already booked return trip.
Recommendations: 1)Up the game on the pool furniture. Not nearly enough loungers and umbrellas. They have some tables with cheap umbrellas and they have plastic adirondack chairs that aren't real stable. One of my friends (160 pounds) sat down in one and it broke and he fell back into the gravel and rocks. 2) Get a Mic system that ties into the system you play music through so when you have events or announcements the music stops and everyone can hear you as opposed to running around yelling the same announcement 10 times so everyone can hear. This could be used to let folks know when food orders are ready as well. 3) Apply the same rules to all campers, regulars are not. We were told to remove our backpack coolers, however, another group who we were told were regulars was not asked to remove theirs. 4) Limit the size of the flotation devices allowed in the river. Most types people used were fine and even smaller than the tubes provided which is good on a busy river, but "The Regulars" had devices that are for being pulled behind boats. They were huge and there were 4 of them and they locked onto each other and you could not float the river. 5) Develop some sort of walk up or tiki bar so you dont have to in a cold building when you're wet.
