First let me start by saying this has been one of our favorite places to camp for years and we camp A LOT all over and SO many times here. We are just ending our weekend and have enjoyed it as always. But having said that there are definitely a few things we noticed this time that we thing need to be addressed. They had a storm this spring which obviously is out of their control but the clean up has not been super great yet and I do realize that takes time. But the couple things that are in their control that we noticed are the trenches that have been dug all over the upper loop in the effort (I would assume) to put in the added electric & water to those sites. Its messy and a huge tripping hazard! I'm not sure why they couldn't have just smoothed out the ground after doing that....? Also they need to make a path from the hyw side of if the upper loop through the middle going to the big restrooms. That way people don't have to cut through campsites or walk ALL the way around to get there. Also we absolutely love the beach here. Its awesome for families and the docks are great. But we used to notice that they would rake the beach in the morning's and get the goose poop away and a we haven't seen them do that in a while here. It makes it kind of gross to go to the beach and step all over the goose poop. Again I know takes a lot of maintenance but this place is alway's full so want I would thing the budget and want to keep families happy...
Read moreSecond trip to this site and boy were we disappointed! I’ll just use bullet points:
-The price per site is ludicrous & charged for parking per car. -Boulders all over that create challenges in maneuvering cars around & parking. -Smell of feces permeated through our site, the entire time -Dogs required on leashes even when next to you, on your campsite and laying down. -No mention of tent designation requirements on “living pads” until day two at 8 pm. These “living pads” are on sharp rocks, in close proximity to the fire pit, including a picnic table, and parking spot. -Two tents only. A pop up, entertainment tent is considered one of the two tents you can have. -No tents or camping items can be placed outside of the “living pad” so that they could “preserve the vegetation.” Let me be clear—the “vegetation” was dirt and weeds. -Park officials driving way too fast through the campgrounds. Several people requested that they slow down due to children. -No dogs near lake, on beach. -Paddle boards cost $180 per day to rent. -Micromanaging park officials driving around, harassing people over very petty things (as stated above). -No hammocks allowed.
In conclusion, we will never return. 0 out of 10. Do not recommend. The rules are so punitive, inflexible, and they are not designed to create a fun camping...
Read moreWe recently stayed 4 nights at RLSP. It is a campground that has a short walk to the shoreline of the lake with a beautiful beach and two large docks. The lake is small compared to most Idaho lakes, but the setting is beautiful. No motor boats allowed, so it is great for SUP's, inflatables, kakyaks, etc. Ideal for families who have lots of kids to keep busy on a beach and by riding their bikes around the campground. The hikes around and near the lake are scenic, easy and fun, too. It also has very clean bathrooms with flush toilets and SHOWERS. The only downsides are at night you can hear trains going by in the near distance, trucks on the road near the campground and occasional sirens. The visitor center is open long hours and they have ice and other items for sale. We would love to give it 5 stars, but the higher than usual noise level at nights and the limited number of biking and hiking trails nearby made it a 4. Ideal for families with...
