Stayed here one night on my way back to Houston from a 4 day trip to OKC for a dog trialing event. Office staff is exceptional and incredibly helpful and friendly. My one star review is due to a permanent resident. I have a 5x9x6 cargo trailer/camper with Windows on both sides, so obviously NOT just a cargo trailer. This was only my second trip with my trailer and finding space for items ect needed to be worked out. Within 10 minutes of my arrival around 6:30 pm I was accosted by a woman demanding "You can't put a tent up here!". My air conditioning is a window unit put through a custom built area that I was trying to put through inside my trailer.. I was hot, sweaty and trying to get my trailer set up so I could just relax. I answered with "excuse me?" The woman just kept telling me in an angry voice "You can't put up a tent here!" I finally came out side to see what her problem was and explain to her that I did not have a tent to put up, I had paid for my space and if my presence bothered her so much I would be gone by 8:00 am. That was not good enough for her and she again "tents are not allowed and you can not put up your tent". After about 5 minutes of going back and forth with this woman about how I was NOT putting up a tent because I did not own one and that my dogs and I would be sleeping in my trailer, she said "that's and RV?" I informed her the State of TX considered it one and she again said, "You can not put up your tent" and looked toward my EZE Up bag. It dawned on me that she was referring to my EZE Up and I informed her that what she was referring to was an "EZE Up" cabana and to look at the picture on the front on the canvas bag. She just said "Well you can't put a tent up here" and left. No apology, nothing. I was parked in a RV pull through spot, but the woman who booked me found that spot for me so that I did NOT have to back up into a spot after a long day. I did have some things outside of my trailer, because I was trying to get set up to sleep. I DID stow the items under my trailer when I got the air conditioning on and my dogs cared for a 5x9 micro trailer can be a little tight especially if you do not have everything organized yet. However, I enjoyed a very nice and friendly conversation with a wonderful woman with an older Skipperke the following morning while getting ready to pull out. She came and saw my dogs in their crates and asked about their training. I would have given 5 STARS based on office staff and this woman, however I can NOT get past the distasteful woman demanding I not put up a nonexistent tent. Perhaps you should wait to see what a person's intentions are before you attack them. I would NOT reccomend this KOA IF you do NOT have a large 5th wheel or RV. It is obvious that some of the permanent residents have a bias toward smaller or non-traditional RV's and it is NOT worth the trouble to...
Read moreThis is probably the worst KOA I've ever been to. They aren't following KOA's policies that they are supposed to take all RVIA certified RV''s. The owner decided that we couldn't stay there (even after having told us months in advance that we would be able to stay there) and this completely disrupted our trip. And then it happened AGAIN after being told that I could stay there for at least a week they changed their mind yet again and sent us somewhere else. Thankfully the other place that we went to was far superior in every way so it didn't completely ruin our trip. The manager, Kevin, was actually really helpful and nice but ownership was horrible which is why this place gets a 1 star from me. ||||The park is also a soaking wet mud-hole and we didn't really like having to shovel rocks by ourselves to get our RV into and out of their muddy storage area. Overall this place was the worst place that we've stayed at in our multi state, 5 month trip. We are just glad that this whole negative experience in behind us.||||Long pull through sites but kind of narrow and surprisingly uneven. There's also zero to do here which is embarrassing for a KOA.||||They basically just slapped a KOA sign on a McClain's RV park in an attempt to get more visitors, and in no ways does it resemble a KOA. I wouldn't be surprised if they drop the KOA membership after dealing with guests that expect more from them.||||If you are coming here for Dallas, also keep in mind that this is far far away from Dallas. It takes forever to get...
Read moreThe RV park is well laid out and very neat and clean. It is a bit difficult to get to park, if traveling North on I35 towards Gainesville, as you must exit, go past the first turn and use the second turn which leads you in a right half circle, over I35 and another half circle to get onto the service road leading to the park. The staff is VERY friendly and helpful, renovations are to be done on some parts of the park, but those are not affecting the campground itself. The paved sites are very large and easily to enter/exit and level. The back in sites are gravel, but seem to be very level and hard. The dog park is well maintained and has obstacles for K9s to play on. Only down side is lighting is not good at night, as one of the motion lights didn't work until you walked up to it and waved about a foot from it. But in daylight is is large enough for K9s to run and exercise after being in a RV or vehicle. Only bad situation, which was not the parks fault was a complete power outage through the park. This was restored as quick as possible; as it was on a Sat. I decided to stay an extra night and although the office is closed on Sun, my request was answered VERY quickly and all was well. Although park is a little difficult to get to, as a KOA, it is very well maintained and except for the electrical hickup, the stay was nice,comfortable...
