This Campground was a dream! The grounds have Porta-Potty bathrooms near each section and there is a grill over the fire pits for each camp site as well as a secure metal box to keep food locked and protected from animals. Bison cross through here as well as deer which is beautiful and amazing to see! The communication about what is available was the reason I put 4 stars instead of 5. I had never been to Catalina before much less to this campsite. Myself as well as to others from my party called the office to ask questions about the availability of renting equipment as well as renting a stove and getting firewood Etc we were told that we could rent different things on site. However, when we arrived and went to the trailer to talk with the ranger, he apologized profusely saying that the only thing we are able to get there is the bundles of firewood. He was so apologetic over the miscommunication that he gave us his personal stove and Propane for us to use. I would definitely Camp here again and just know I know what is available and what is not. Bring all of your own stuff and if you need anything you can call ahead and let them know, and pay over the phone and they will deliver it to your campsite before you get there. The only thing that you can purchase on site is the firewood bundles. The water is so clear it's amazing and beautiful. I kept thinking I was in a different country! There's so many different hiking options beautiful! I'm definitely looking forward to...
Read moreExpect to be nickel and dimed and mistreated by the terrible manager of the safari bus - the only way to get to the campground with luggage. Safari bus prices are exuberant! Seems like they have been designed with air travelers in mind not the families which need to EVERYTHING for camping in the wilderness. Every piece of luggage is counted and charged for! Bad that's on top of camping fees and bus tickets prices. And WORST OF ALL the whole process is managed by a manager Theresa with no people skills and serious personality issues! If you decide to visit - prepare for facing unreasonable searches and unbearable attitude by somebody who is supposed to provide a SERVICE! Also due to the terrible California drought a lot of the scenery looks...
Read moreAfter just completing the trans Catalina trail starting in Avalon, I have to say that Little Harbor is easily the nicest campground I stayed at. The only other two I slept at were Blackjack and Parsons Landing, so I can't speak for the Two Harbors and Hermit Gulch grounds, but Little Harbor was just stunning. The harbor itself made for a very nice swim after a hot day of hiking and the showers and running water made the post-ocean cleanup no problem. The actual sites are a little close together, so it can get loud if you are trying to go to sleep earlier than 10, but if you reserve some of the most southern sites then you can avoid this. I'd recommend this campsite to anyone who's staying on catalina, TCT...
