Given our circumstances, Valencia Travel Village was the only RV campsite we had available to us, so we stayed there a couple of weeks ago. It wouldn’t have been our first choice given the multitude of comments about how the sites were tightly packed together. Wow, they weren’t kidding. Our other issue was the price, which seemed excessive…especially given our experience. I guess they try to justify their pricing by using “Valencia” in their name, even though they are actually located in Castaic, CA (for a little history, Castaic has always been known for being an inexpensive little town in terms of cost-of-living and home prices, whereas Valencia was quite the opposite).

So why the negative review? Here goes:

Tight spaces: Spaces are VERY close together. You really need to think through how much room you will need for your slides. You might be able to put your awning out about 3-5 feet (if you’re lucky) if someone is parked next to you. But at least you’re likely to provide them with some shade as well. And while you're having dinner outside with the family or spouse on the plastic bench provided, your neighbor might be connecting (or flushing out) their sewer line just a couple of feet away. No exaggeration (see picture).

High water pressure: Water pressure dangerously high at 80psi and they are perfectly aware of this. Our gage could read the pressure, but could not bring it down. Our campsite neighbor came out and asked if I was also struggling with the pressure, so I knew this was a campsite wide issue. His regulator also couldn't reduce the pressure both of us ended up buying a substandard regulator that they happen to sell at the resort store for a premium. I asked the guy at the resort store why they would knowingly keep the water pressure so high? His snarky response was "I don't know. I never thought to ask."

Staff not very friendly: They lacked tact and customer service skills with union-worker attitudes. It gave me the impression they were only there to collect a paycheck and couldn't be bothered by the $95-a-night paying guests.

Cable signal was poor and grainy: Dave, their superintendent guy admitted that it's an old system that would give a very bad signal in hotter temperatures. Again, something they are aware of, but never bothered to fix. The wifi also was very bad. Again, these are all some of the things they boast on their list of amenities on their website, but many of them don’t work up to basic standards.

Ants: One morning we noticed a pest control guy walking around spraying the sites, but shortly after, we noticed that there were very small ants crawling up our tires and hoses and into our travel trailer. I brought this to the attention of Dave, and he said “well, we can’t spray everything and it’s common knowledge that campers should take care of their own pest control problems.” But, their guy had JUST sprayed? Are they not concerned that it’s not working? Of course, they offered to send the same guy to our site to re-spray for $25. Wow.

Rules not enforced: On every night that we were there, there were people at the pool and surrounding campsites outside, talking, laughing and making noise past 10pm. Also on multiple occasions, there would be children swimming in the adult-only pool.

Your camp site could be moved: We made it a point to pick a spot AWAY from the pool area, but when we arrived, they said our new spot was exactly right in front of the pool area. I asked why, but the lady couldn’t give me a coherent answer.

We cannot recommend staying at the Valencia (Castaic) Travel Village RV Resort. It is simply not worth the...

I don't ever take the time to write a negative review, mine are all positive reviews, so I'm not "that" person. And I'm not reviewing the property, but the customer service when I was just trying to reserve. 😳 Staff could use a copy of "How to Win Friends and Influence People" to up their customer interaction skills. I had attempted to make reservations on their website several times, but it wouldn't take so I sent an email for their rate and got that in an email response. Fast forward 3 1/2 weeks, tried booking again on their website and it just wouldn't take it so I called in yesterday to reserve and the price was $40 higher for 4 nights than the price they had quoted in the email. I was just asking about the rate and mentioning the rate I was quoted by email and the gal on the phone seemed to go on the defensive right away, offered no apology for the discrepancy, she just said the company raised the rate and she's just following instruction. She even said something about her not knowing if I really got that rate quote (whereupon I pointed out emails are written proof with time stamps and that I'd be happy to provide it to her). It was just very unprofessional as I believe you can say anything to anyone if you say it the right way. $40 isn't going to break the bank, but when the company's employee doesn't use the right approach, it's the principle of the matter.

I just called in today to speak with Chris, the manager, and he at least apologized, but wouldn't honor the price his company quoted me just 3 1/2 weeks earlier even though it was his company's website that wouldn't submit my reservation request in the first place, despite me trying at least 3x in 2 different instances. Needless to say, we're keeping our Marriott reservation for this trip, it's closer to Magic Mountain anyway and breakfast is included. 😊 And we'll save...

First impressions are important. This one is not good. Ladies were great, the guy, whoever he is..miserable..not welcoming at all. Checked in and decided to go to restaurant instead of cooking. I asked grumpy guy for a restaurant nearby... and it was like I asked him something personal..geez..sorry I asked. so I drove out, came back, set up..went to office/store to get a drink and see if they rent DVD's. It's 6:15 pm and it's dark and says "closed". I saw grumpy guy at the gate and asked if it's closed for the night. Said "yes, closes at 6pm". ???? with an almost full park. .... hmm... so look at pools (2) look nice....maybe go for a swim...closed for winter? Winter ended over a month ago and it was mid 70's going on 80 today. Walked around park. Nice spot but looks like many full time or seasonals. Rules say "no tents" but there are tarps and portable garages everywhere and junk/stuff piled up outside rv's. Too bad, it makes a nice park look junky. And the wifi. They put a disclaimer in the brochure. Good thing, it's useless. No youtube no videos, no weather page, nothing except slow emails and 1/2 hour to post this. Then the coup de gras...the bathrooms. Disgusting. Toilette paper on the floor, water everywhere, dirt, dirty toilets and sinks. It was so hot and humid and smelly I almost gagged. Decided to hook up the rv water and shower in there. Good thing I had that option. Will not be coming back. I read a couple of the post on here and I'm sure they are friends of the owner/staff here. Must be. Interesting the Rain Kelly posted "nice pools", 3 weeks ago..they weren't open...nice to look at I guess. Find somewhere else..especially for $40 plus ...

Really nice place and our new go-to stopover when traveling from Northern CA to Southern CA (if we can get a reservation). We were here for an RV rally, which was a lot of fun and included "short" trips to the Nethercut Collection in Sylma and the Reagan Library in Simi Valley. And though we didn't get to go on this trip, it is right across the river from Six Flags Magic Mountain! Unfortunately, though, they have some work to do to recover from the 2/24/23 storm. The Santa Clara River reached out and claimed about 20 RV sites and continues eating away at the property as I write this review. Fortunately, nobody was hurt but we've heard that we lost 3 RVs and a car overnight, and another is on the verge of going in because the owner refuses to move it. And it would've been worse but for the quick action by Park Management and first responders who helped evacuate folks before anymore RVs and sites fell into the river last night. That said, there is a lot of damage to electrical, water, and sewer systems so be sure to check in before you head here to make sure they are fully up and running again-it might be a while. We will be back for sure if they can manage to stay in business after this but it is sad that they lost so many RV sites in such a nice park... it will make it even harder to reserve a spot between all the full-time residents here even if they do manage to stay open. 😪

Valencia Travel Village is the 90th stop for and we stayed for 3 nights as a transit point to Joshua Tree and to visit north Hollywood. Check in was quick and easy with the camp host being very pleasant. The pull though was a little tight but the gravel site was level without blocks. Although we did not use the amenities, it looked like a great place for a family to stay with a newer playground and 3 pools and a hot tub. It is also very convenient to I-5 making it easy to move around and a Walmart 2.5 miles across the highway. The grounds are kept neat and clean and I appreciate having grass on the site, including the two spacious dog parks. Laundry facilities were clean and nice to have a credit card option (instead of chasing quarters); however, not all the machines were operational and appeared to be this way for some time. But know that the vast majority of the sites are dedicated to long term residents (separate from the short term sites) and not all sites are well-kept, are filled with junk or have run down rigs. But overall, would stay here again in the future if in the area. For connectivity midday: T-Mobile 7.02 down/6.66 up; WiFi 9.6 down/4.63 up; Verizon 22.4 down/7.80 up.
