The place is absolutely beautiful. We put in our registration paid our money. They let us sign in seen our camper. Helped us pick out a spot and everything was Perfectly normal, except we were the only people in the campground. The next day after my family gets there and we’re about to go check out the river just spending family quality time being quiet, keeping to ourselves, keeping everything clean and being respectful of the place this guy comes over there and starts pointing out that our camper looks old and that he needs the county to come out and inspect it because they have rules, even though no one else is paid to camp there as my family had and makes a big deal about my camper and they’re the ones who helped me sign my camper in and pulled to the spot that was dedicated for my Reservation. Made my wife and children feel totally uncomfortable and just totally ruin the entire weekend that we plan to stay away just because our camper looked a few years older than what it was supposed to look to be able to go there even though we are local people and we’re just taking the weekend out to be with our family in our local community and paid for it This place should not be allowed to make people feel that way just because they’re not in a brand new camper we followed all guidelines in all rules as far as registration reservations, keeping everything clean and just because the camper looked a little older they made my family feel unwelcome the next day Not to mention, even though there was no one else in the park. A beautiful place, but very...
Read moreBefore attempting to make a reservation online, I called (8:30pm) to make sure we could arrive late (11pm) and that there isn't a gate or something to prevent us from getting to our reserved space. Online availability showed all spaces were available with the exception of 2. Left a message, no answer, no call back. We decided to stop and see if we could still stay and perhaps pay cash for the night. We pulled off the highway to find there is indeed a gate and the area to try to turn around a 40' 5th wheel was minimal. The security guard lady happened by and said there should have been no issue for us to make a reservation. Then she called the owners or manager and they said they cut off reservations at 9:00pm. 🤨Which would be nice if that detail was on their website. Or that since there were paying customers literally at your gate and all but 2 spaces were available, to let them in and stay. But the icing on the cake of our experience was when the guard said the owner/manager wouldn't even allow her to let us in to turn around. Very inhospitable and certainly doesn't make us want to come back to ever attempt to stay here again. After my husband mentioned the danger of backing onto the highway where there is construction still underway and limited visibility, she acquiesced, opening the gate and allowing us to turn around and leave. Maybe others will have a decent experience, but we found this very frustrating and annoying and not at all the feel of southern hospitality you expect for this part of...
Read moreThis campground was recently renovated and it's now a Mobile County Park. There are 32 RV spots with full hook ups, All of them are large concrete pads with a connecting concrete pad with a picnic table. The campground RV area is gated and requires a code to drive through the gate. Check-in is at the Ranger Station on the left just after the turn for the RV area. You'll be given your code and a parking pass at check in. If you need to turn around after you check in you can drive straight ahead to the day use area and loop around the outer lane of the parking lot to get back to the turn in for the RV area. The roads in the campground are all paved. The bath house building in the RV area looks really nice. So does the Day Use area building. They are built of Hardy Plank and Trex Decking boards so it should last a really long time. There's a small amount of road noise from the traffic on highway 158/98 if your site is adjacent to the highway bridge, but it did not detract from our stay. There is a day use area connected by a crushed limestone path that parallels the river to the campground. It's a nice walk through the woods and has access down to the riverside sandy beach areas. There are several pavilions with grills all along the way for you to enjoy a picnic. All of the staff is super friendly and made our...
