First, thank you to Michelle and Clayton for answering all our questions, helping with pre planning and putting up with all our changes in putting together a fantastic itinerary. Our arrival was great and we were so excited to finally experience Magee. Thanks also to Jeremy for welcoming us and taking care of a couple minor glitches our first day. Jason, the food and beverage manager worked with Chef AJ to put together a truly amazing wine pairing dinner for my wife’s birthday celebration. The wine selections, the food creations were truly amazing and we were able to experience a few new taste and wine selections that opened our eyes. Our first afternoon we were with Colton for the float trip. Was a very windy afternoon but Colton tried his best to navigate the strong headwinds. Needless to say we created some memories we won’t soon forget. Clayton went above and beyond to insure our safety and demonstrated exactly what Magee’s staff will do for its guest to insure we are well taken care of. After we learned that Colton also guided fly fishing we ask that he be our guide the next morning. Again, he exemplified what the staff is all about. Well done. In fact all of our guides, from horseback (Bethany), archery (sorry forgot the name, Butler Grad)gun club (Eli), Culinary Class (Chef Jordan) were outstanding and made each event both fun and instructional. Eli, thanks for that picture with the 50 Caliber! Then there is the Spa. We enjoyed a Couples massage one afternoon that was so relaxing and needed after my 58 year old self got off my beautiful horse after an hour plus ride. Oh, the food, always perfectly prepared and a work of art. 5 star in every respect from taste, presentation, service. Alyssa was our server a number of evenings. She is a bright and remarkable young lady who we enjoyed conversation and joking with. You made our evenings a lot of fun and thank you for your suggestions and great service. You are the best! Tropher our lead bartender, along with all the other folks taking care of us at the bar were awesome, making some excellent, creative libations, great conversation about my passion Bourbon and always anticipating our next wishes. And I know we missed some staff names and for that I’m sorry because the staff at Magee are some of if not the best we have had the pleasure of meeting anywhere in our extensive travels. A 6 on a 5 scale. Also, the facilities, from the cabins, with every small attention to detail considered to the Lodge, with its beautiful inside and out side decor to the Pool Pavilion with its library, pool, cabanas and awesome fireplace to all the fire pits, jacuzzi, spa and overall setting in a breathtaking area, you won’t believe it until you witness this resort. Don’t hesitate to go, although we wish we could keep it all to ourselves. We will most certainly make this resort a regular part of our travel. Looking forward to returning soon....
Read moreDerek and I just got back from our honeymoon exactly a week ago, and it's no wonder we are already missing Magee.||||We stayed at the Elk Hollow Cabin, which was decorated beautifully, and was very comfortable for our stay. Our cabin had a private bistro along Brush Creek where we had dinner one night because the temperature was perfect, and because why not? We really appreciated the staff accommodating this for us as it really made the trip special being able to sit by our fire, and watch the stars after our delicious meal. Thank you Alicia, Kimber, Topher, Emily, AJ, Corbin, Myranda, and of course Jeremy for making our food experience memorable and delicious, as well as the seamless coordination of our activities. We also loved our visit to the Cheyenne Club! It was nice to get a little dressed up for one night for a unique culinary experience, and enjoy the ambience.||||It's an understatement to say that all of our activities were good, they were excellent to outstanding:||||Thank you Lindsay, Dakota, and Brandy for our private rides and also to Kendall, Carlo, and the other Brush Creek Resort wranglers for making our cattle drive truly memorable (bucket list item officially checked off!). Derek is more of a beginner rider, and I'm a bit more advanced but Magee/BCR was able to accommodate our skill levels without having to be separated all the time. Also, seeing a baby calf shortly after it was born was so special, especially on our first day on the homestead.||||Thank you, Jill, for being our guide for fly fishing and archery. Derek and I were impressed with your professionalism, knowledge, and your quick skills at attempting to save our baby trout :) Also thank you for making us look like models with your iPhone-picture taking skills. Pictures are what's left and we really appreciate those a lot!||||Thank you Kevin and Derek at BCR for our ATV ride. Thank you for entertaining my need to put a tire over every rock, tree limb, puddle, etc while letting us all have an awesome time getting dirty while staying safe. ||||Thank you C.J. for the outstanding experience at the Gun Club. This was Derek's first time shooting, ever, and he says it was his favorite activity. Seeing the moose on the rifle range was also very special, so thanks for arranging that ;)||||Thank you Chandra and Lydia for the best couples massage (highly recommend doing the spa at the start of the trip). It was a great way to welcome us to the resort and immediately slip into vacation-mode.||||We can't wait...
Read moreWe stayed in Burgess Cabin for one week at the end of September 2018. As a restored original cabin, Burgess was necessarily small but comfortable. The nearby creek and our own private fire pit near the creek enhanced the locale of our cabin. My wife loved the shampoo! Turn down service and housekeeping were both good but what makes a great experience is almost always the service, which we found to be excellent. Misha, Massa, Emily, Madison, Clayton, Corbin, Olivia, Patrick, Jason, Derrick, Jeremy, and others (apologies for leaving out anyone who helped us) were friendly, competent, and helpful. The food was good, our only complaint being the lack of variety in the lunch menu. We generally do not enjoy the music broadcast in hotels/resorts (usually too intrusive, too loud, or too mindless) and the staff was responsive to our requests to either turn it down or off or select a different choice like classical. The setting was beautiful and sometimes surprising (two nights a large buck was within the homestead enjoying presumably sweeter grass than that found in the pastures). A stay at Magee Homestead is pricey but we felt we got value for the price as it included activities such as archery, horseback riding, gun range, ropes course, on-ranch fly fishing, and...
