THESE PEOPLE WILL TRY TO STEAL MONEY FROM YOU BY CLAIMING YOU HAVE A "SMOKING FEE" FROM THE ROOM SMELLING LIKE SMOKE!!!! We stayed 1 night. My family checked in about 6pm. Upon entering our room the tub had several hairs in the tub and mold around the top of the sink. But whatever we were only staying over night we were all exhausted so I decided to just brush it off. Everything else seemed clean. I checked the sheets and beds all was fine. We go to check out the next next morning and I see an over charge. So before even going to the parking lot I turn immediately back to the desk to inquire. I was informed that housekeeping reported my room for a smoke smell. (Mind you the entire time here either my children, myself, my fiance, or all of us was in the room the entire time. So I was completely lost at how within a 1 min window someone had been in my room, reported it, charged it to my account.) I informed her that we are non smokers and there has to be a mix up. She tells me that she'll go check the room and if it smells like smoke she'll still have to keep the charge on there. So I told her if that was the case we were going to have a bigger issue because we're being falsely accused and charged for something we didn't do. So we go up to the room and the lady getting the trash out of the room peeks her head out as were walking up and says this room doesn't smell like smoke.. (which was weird cuz how did she even know why we were there or what was going on) then upon reentering the room with and coming to the conclusion that it doesn't smell like smoke. She removes the charge. At this point I'm expressing my concern for how many other people have been falsely accused of this and charged and not even aware of it. The receipt I recieved first didn't even show the fee. The 2nd copy I recieved after the refund was issued reflected it though. So someone put some thought into this and how they were going to try it. But luckily I have terrible experiences with hilton anyways so I am used to having to double check their work. This isn't the first time I've caught over charges from their facilities. Today was just the first time I've caught it while physically happening. Instead of after leaving the property. The assistance manager made things right and refunded my money. Just goes to show if you allow it people will screw you over any chance they can. This is a long review but I can't stand a thief and wanted to make others aware. Other than this.... they don't have vending machines but have the stuff at the front you can buy but be prepared to pay for the convenience of the product. 4$ per 20oz drink. 5$ bags of candy. The breakfast was minimal. I wasn't even going to complain nor mention any of these smaller issues but after the finale at the end I figured might as well keep the review 100%...
Read moreI would love nothing more than to be able to give a good review because I most certainly give them. In this case though, it was very frustrating.
We had planned to drive all the way home on our trip, so did not book a room anywhere. Unfortunately we lost several hours due to interstate issues (accidents and construction) and needed to stop because it was getting late. Being a holiday weekend there was nothing available anywhere from any chain that was decent in the entire area. Finally I found a room available at Hampton Inn at Pickwick Dam Shiloh Falls in Counce TN. It was going to be 45 min out of our way to get there but it was worth it to be able to have a place to stay so late in the day.
When we arrived, the lady at the front desk immediately started apologizing and saying she tried to call us. She did leave a voicemail also. I'm not sure if we didn't have signal at that point or why it never came through at the time. Either way she said that they had no rooms available for us. I asked her what happened with our room. She said they had been sold out that day for some time but that the corporate website allowed it to book anyway. She had also been trying to reach corporate to let them know this was happening as we weren't the first I'm guessing. I would absolutely give her 5 stars though. She was so kind and genuinely felt bad knowing we had driven out of the way to get there. She also gave us suggestions of trying Jackson TN which was about 45-60 min further. Luckily we did find a hotel there. I even called to confirm just to be sure.
Once we finally got home the next day I did reach out to Hilton and let them know what happened. I received a response back that my complaint was being forwarded to the local hotel and they had 3 days to respond. First, it was not a local hotel issue. It was the website allowing me to book something that wasn't there. Second, I've never heard back from anyone after that.
In the whole scope of life it's truly not that big of deal. We did find a place to stay for the night and we didn't spend that much extra in gas. It also wouldn't necessarily keep me from staying at this chain again. I'm just disappointed that the only person who really cared was the woman at the front desk at hotel. There was no follow up to my correspondence to say hey thanks for letting us know so we can make sure it doesn't happen to others. Or offer an explanation etc. Long story short personal engagement makes for a more positive outcome for customers. Just a suggestion...
Read moreStayed here many times. Usually excellent. This last 4 day stay was drought with a new problem everyday! We checked in all was fine until we got to the room. There was hair all over the bathroom and the bath tub was clogged. After a while they came to fix that. The next day my girlfriend and I were walked in on while naked by a strange couple. The hotel failed to properly check us in the night before and tried putting someone else in there. The desk then tells me that the gentleman working the night before didnât check us in. So then they credited my card for the 4 days, then recharged for the night we were there then wanted the remainder. The problem was that with all the âpendingâ credits and charges, they maxed the credit card. Now I donât have a way to pay the remainder and am 500 miles from home without a credit card. I had to borrow the money to be able to stay. Tried to get a hold of the Hilton help desk and the response was âwe canât help you. Thatâs the property managers responsibilityâ. Well, the property manager is the one that role them to run it that way. They tell me to get a hold of my credit card company and have them clear it, which they could not do because everything literally just happened. So after being in the phone for 2 hours with the Hilton and Discover I got nowhere. They basically put the responsibility of their mistake on me to take care of instead of them doing it being the responsible party in the matter. She did give us 1 night free so I suppose thatâs something. We did not have housekeeping show up any of the 4 days that we were there. We had to take out our own garbage and get our own toilet paper refill, new towels etc. then the smoke alarm in our room kept beeping like the battery was about dead when we were in bed. I go to the front desk at 11pm to say something and I was told to just disconnect it because maintenance isnât there until morning. Which I did not feel comfortable doing. So we had to deal with it. The last night we got back to the room late and our cards didnât work. So back to the front desk we go. This time they were actually helpful. Everyday it was one thing after another that was completely unacceptable! I pay to stay (which was a hassle) and then have to do my own housekeeping and apparently maintenance work! Getting walked in on naked should be reason enough to get better compensation than what I got. Not to mention everything else that happened. I will never stay at a Hampton or Hilton ever again over this! This is...
