ZERO stars is my rating. I still can't even BELIEVE the experience we had at this place. It's been 5 months of torture. We looked for a good place to get quality furniture. We settle d on Vandenberg's. We chose a sectional and two power recliners. We chose a fabric for our couch, one fabric for the pillows from England, and a fabric for the recliners from Best. We were on our way with a 6-8 week time frame. I was questioning our fabric choice for our couch, so I jumped on England's website (you can digitally try on the fabric -they should offer this option in the store). On the website, I realized there were two pillow fabric choices. I thought it was weird since we were only told to choose one, but I figured we would get six pillows in the same fabric -no big deal. Both the England and Best websites tout fast shipping, typically within 4 weeks. 8 weeks later. WE CALL THEM to check the status of our furniture. The sectional had been there for WEEKS. The recliners were "delayed". We tell them we want our sectional and to not wait for the chairs. They deliver the sectional. (THE DELIVERY GUYS WERE GREAT). The pillows come off the truck. They are Starlight Blue? Our couch is a textured cream, black, and tan. Pillows are blue, yellow, and violet. There were THREE of them and TWO of the ones I actually ordered still at the warehouse (the delivery guy said). Clearly, we should have had two fabric choices. I refuse the pillows. The delivery guy apologizes doesn't have us pay anything. We wait 2 more weeks and WE CALL THEM again. They say Best doesn't have the fabric you wanted for the chairs. Please come pick new fabric (10 WEEKS later). We go and pick new fabric for the chairs. I tell them about our pillows for the couch. They let us pick a second fabric for pillows . They never give us the two they had that were the correct color. When Tom, the salesman (if you can call him that), shows us our original receipt someone hand wrote in Starlight Blue afterward on the carbon copy with pen! We never chose it. It's like they went to order and just chose the other color for us. We picked new fabrics and paid a good chunk of the balance for the couch and chairs. Tom promised us he would come in on his day off the next day to call Best and make sure the fabric was available, place the order, and put a rush on it (admitted later he didn't). He also said he would give us a discount on the balance. 6 WEEKS LATER for a total of 16 WEEKS, WE CALL THEM AGAIN. We ask about the pillows and chairs. We wait for a call back from Tom. Two days later, they say chairs are on a truck coming in later that day. We get a call back. The truck that came doesn't have our chairs, so they call Best, and it turns out THAT fabric isn't available either. We can come and choose new fabric. The pillows should be in soon. This will make our fourth trip to the store and countless phone calls -always initiated by us! We are a busy family of five, so a 3 weeks go by and NOT 1 person calls to try to make anything right. At this point, we have fully paid for our sectional, pillows (we still don't have), and most of the chairs (we still don't have). Our original order was May 25th and it's now OCTOBER. We decide we are not getting the chairs through them and we need a refund of our money. We go to the store again. Tom tries to refund 200 dollars and my husband points out that we are not paying for fabric protection on chairs we are NOT getting. He then adds that to the refund amount. Surprise, our pillows are in the back of the store. We had to pick them up. He offered no discount on couch for all the hell we have been through with them, and we still paid delivery costs even though we came to them 4 times and they came to us ONCE. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I am reporting them to the BBB. No one should ever have an experience like this and there is absolutely no excuse for it. Oh & we still only have 5 pillows and the website clearly shows 6. They tried to tell us we only get 4 but then why did we get 5? WARNING! NEVER GET...
Read moreI recommended Vandenberg and Sons furniture to my elderly aunt and I am sorry I did. She purchased a recliner and a week after it was delivered continued to have difficulty with the power lever to recline and asked to return it. At that time also chose a different color. The chair was delivered and because she is so small the spring tension forced her upright all of the time and she was unable to recline. She called the Schoolcraft store and they said there was nothing they could do. I called the Schoolcraft store and they said all of the chairs are like that and there was nothing they could do. I called the BEST, the manufactruer of the chairs and they said since the chair was under warranty the Schoolcraft Vandenberg and Sons only needed to order a spring and send a repairman to adjust the tension. A few days later my aunt received the custom made arm and head pieces and they were sewn with ripples and did not remotely fit the chair arms. I took them to them to the Schoolcraft store and the sales person took out her file and said " My she has been a busy girl." That was a totally offensive comment since the reason for the additional calls was for inferior customer service and product. SHE WAS the busy person, not Girl, in attempts to get the warranty acknowledged and get the Schoolcraft Vandenberg and Sons store to follow through with making the product correct. Read moreWe were so excited when we purchased our couch from vandenburg, thinking that we would get a good quality couch and all. We were told it would take 8-10 weeks to get it due to the holidays in which we understood. It did arrive to us during that time but we did not receive the whole couch due to it being damaged in the shipping process. With that being said, we had to wait longer, for they had to ship that part of the couch back to be fixed. It also ended up that there was also a rip on another piece of our couch too. So once we waited several weeks for that one piece to be delivered to us, they took the other piece and fixed that one too. So it took a total of 4 months to get our whole couch. We have now only had the whole couch for a week now and the piece that took forever in getting back to us still has a rip on it and when you sit in certain areas of it, you hear the springs make noise. What I think when I spend over $3,000 on a couch, there should not be any tears or sounds coming out of it when you sit on it. Overall, I am not impressed with vandenburg.
