Overpriced and untrained staff

I’ve stayed here a few times as there’s not much else to choose from unfortunately.

I just stayed again recently and here’s a bit of a warning for others: DONT call and make a reservation if you plan on staying here!

I’ve always booked online but my last stay I called bc I wanted to speak to someone about getting a site closer to the β€œregular” toilets and ask another question or two.

The rep said sure and told me a site # that was apparently closer.

I asked - I might stay a second night is there a difference in price if I book them separately? She said no.

When we arrived there were tons of sites unreserved much closer to the toilets. Bizarre but whatever. The next day I see my card was charged $10 MORE than the total the rep told me.

They have a $5 fee for online reservation but the rep on the phone didn’t tell me there’s a $10 fee for phone reservations! (Duh I would have hung up and booked online)

Super bizarre and unethical to tell customers one price and then charge them another - she had TWO opportunities to tell me the fee - that there WOULD be a difference if I booked separately and when she told me my total.

Not sure what’s up with this place but staff is not fully competent.

Furthermore there’s only one bathroom for the Grand Prix side for tons of sites. NONE of the sites are near the facilities - it’s so weird, it’s pretty far actually!

So they placed portapotties closer to sites which is fine but come on!! Portapotties for $60 a night 😳 and lying about my total and charging me more!?

ONLY book online and be prepared to pay for pretty much a parking space with nasty portapotties.

The one extra star provided is bc at least the views are decent, cell phone reception is good, and the volunteers at the front were nice ( they tried helping me but apparently get told nothing - she couldn’t even look anything up in the system for...

I will just start with saying if it wasn't for two of the camp hosts that was working a couple times through my stay it wouldn't have been that bad but for a few different reasons related to the camp host I'm referring to my time was very uncomfortable, unprofessional, unsafe feeling to say the least. To keep this short and to the point for a review if there is a gentleman camp host that has glasses and stays on site that drives a dark blue 06 dodge ram mega cab 4x4 diesel truck working then your better off leaving and Come back another time that host is not there or not on call. He had totally disrespected my disabled mother more then once and went as far as calling my mother a scamming lier who just is using her so called disability to receive money and that she is not really disabled and should not be allowed at that camp site because she was not the type of people they want or allow there because he said only for the simple fact my mom is able to walk by herself just not for long periods at a time he said she is faking her injuries and is a white trash scamming junkie that is word for word. Then there is the other camp host that is a Hispanic lady or Latino I am not sure it has nothing to do about the issues race is not the issue on my end of the problem anyway. She was so rude with me after telling me u needed to move my vehicle which I told her not a problem I was on my. Way to move it when she started telling some one on the phone that I refused to move my truck and that I told her she will have to make me move it which is absolutely not true at all I was very upset with the stay there and how we was treated and to cost me...

I already knew the water was bad but they need to verbally tell their guests when they come in here that the water has arsenic and it's not drinkable. Also if you're in a tent I advise you go elsewhere because it is not camping friendly unless you're in an RV. I knew that it was going to be windy but it was windy enough to blow my tent over and the rates are higher then Veterans Park by $10 if you have a dog. Veterans Park does not charge for your dog and they're very tent friendly. I would not advise taking a shower in Arsenic water as it can cause cancer and is very harmful to humans. People with children should think twice about coming here. It is very windy, the shooting range is very loud, and the racetrack can be loud as well. Overall just a place to get through the night for me. Unfortunately I had nowhere else to go but I'm making the best of it. Just wanted to let other campers know this is not a tent friendly area and even if they sell you a campsite and you tell them that you're camping in a tent, I advise you...

Overall very satisfied - recommend! Tent camping in Grand Prix campground over a Competent Motorsports weekend (lots of Porsche racing). Only about 10 tent sites were occupied and you could tell the sites were strategically filled (assigned by staff) to ensure we were spread out and because their different sizes accommodate different needs (multiple tents/cars etc...). Our site was great - very private and with view of the track. Very friendly staff on the way in/out. There were porta-pottys available by our site and down the hill there are permanent bathrooms which were reasonably clean and fully-functional with showers. Security drove by a couple times which was nice. Not a lot or any shade on many of the sites, so beware of the weather which can go back and forth between breezy/cloudy/cool and calm/sunny/sun-burn hot (typical for the area).

This campground was just ok. Good location and reasonable price. They clearly informed us the water was not potable so we brought two jugs of water; however, we left the water jugs at our campsite for the day and took our vehicle (which is what we were camping in) and when we came back someone had dumped out both the jugs (which were mostly full) and thrown them out. That was super frustrating. When I called the night staff they said there was nothing they could do. We got by with our half a water bottle we had left from the day. It seems like there must have been a lack of coordination with the staff and they didn't mark that our campsite was still reserved for another night, so that was not great. Otherwise the campsite was fine. Facilities were very clean. Raceway was loud but that's to be expected and wasn't noisy too early or too late.

Stayed here as it is convenient to Monterey, Carmel and Pacific Grove so it was easy to explore from here. The park sits atop a ridge - 16% grade climb up! They seem to have a few full hook-up sites for seasonal stays or perhaps staff. The rest are 30 amp electric and non-potable water hook-up. I would give 4 stars if they had potable water. It wasn't very busy when we were there in December, which made it nice. Neighbors were distant. There are gorgeous views from up here, but not all sites have that view. Many sites might be a challenge to level. Ours was level. Facilities are a little dated, but clean and staff are friendly and helpful. AT&T cellular was great.
