Cons: Seashells Beach Resort is infested with bed bugs, roaches and various crawling bugs. The bed bugs were so excessive that I'm still itching after checking out 2 days ago. When brought to Wendell's attention (the property owner) he immediately denied they were bed bugs and educated me on the bugs in the area. Also, he told me there was little he could do w/o jeopardizing the health and safety of the guest in spraying pesticides. I gather Seashells Beach Resort doesn't have a pesticides contract.
The WIFI connection at SeaShells Beach Resort is very poor (the connectivity is extremely slow or unable to connect). In attempting to connect to the Internet resulted in a watching a spinning wheel or unable to connect. When this matter was brought to Wendell's attention he replied there was little he could being in a remote location in which he referred to it as "out in the jungle". Also, he informed that WIFI boosters were available but never provided one. Instead he suggested I use my personal cellphone HotSpot.
Upon initial arrival to my suite, Starfish it had a smokey odor like a bar room. When brought to Wendell's attention he informed that he was aware and that the previous guest was fined $500 for violating the smoking policy.
The water temperature of the kitchen and bathroom faucets were scalding hot to the extent smoke was apparent when the faucets were turned to the warm setting. When brought to Wendell's attention, he informed it has been in the hospitality business for over 20 years and this has never been a problem.
Pros: The Seashells Beach Resort staff (Ms. Carol and Flora) were very professional and provided exceptional service. On the other hand, Wendell waa not accepting constructive criticism regarding my experience but defensive while staying at SeaShells Beach Resort.
Overall, this is a small private resort with a lot of potential if under...
Read moreAt the end of a month-long stay at SSR, we did something we rarely do: booked the same month for the following year. It wasn't that tough a decision. Located on a stretch of secluded beach, the resort has a wonderful "Old Florida" vibe. The two bedroom, one bath apartments are "beachy": tile floors, comfy furniture, good beds, well-equipped kitchens. Website photos are spot-on! Led by owner Wendel, the staff--Flor, Lillian, and Carol--meticulously maintain the property. The paint's fresh and colorful, landscaping is impeccable, everything's clean, and every issue is addressed immediately. When we had a small glitch with our air conditioner, a repairman remedied it as soon as Wendel learned about it. There's a real sense of community among the guests. Because of its small size, there's an intimacy that we seldom encounter in larger resorts. Our dog Mo made friends with everyone, including other four-legged visitors. Guests are welcome to no-charge commercial grade washers and dryers, fridges and freezers full of snacks and beverages, a barbecue area with four gas grills and tables, and plenty of beach-side seating. We even caught a couple of SpaceX launches from the beach. Outdoor activities: I'm a cyclist and the stretch of A1A that SSR sits on is perfect for flat-land riding. Sebastian Inlet State Park and Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge, the nation's first, are close by. I'm not a fisherman, but other guests did plenty of fishing from the beach. As city dwellers, we don't spend much time driving. That said, there are plenty of excellent restaurants within a half-hour of SSR. One of our favorites: El Ambia Cubano...
Read moreI cannot say enough positive things about this resort that is right on the Atlantic Ocean! Owner Wendell and his associate Carol will do everything possible to make you feel welcome at this slice of private paradise. There are only 8 well-appointed, two-bedroom suites. Due to it being a private beach, with only 8suites, you feel like you have the entire beach and pool to yourself. Everything that you need to enjoy a beach vacation (without the crowds) is there for you to use: beach towels, floats, chairs and umbrellas, which are all include in your stay. There is a fresh pot of complimentary coffee made each morning, along with fruit and breakfast items. Throughout the day, you are welcome to complimentary ice cream, chips and soda. We have stayed at Seashell Suites twice; once during December and once during Sea Turtle egg laying season in July. You can sit under the moonlight and watch the loggerhead turtles come ashore to lay their eggs and then return to the sea. Incredible! During both of our stays, we met such delightful, courteous guests who were so respectful of each other. This a dream come true spot to enjoy a peaceful stay directly on the Atlantic. We can’t wait to...
