To be honest.....I really had a pretty bad day off. I found myself having to deal with the manager over the phone till 11pm for having my 2 dogs with me which I'd had the 2 times prior when I stayed with no issues. Not only that the room was in fair condition. All the electrical appliances were unplugged. The fridge was hot, there was no onsight management or personnel to help with an access issue we were having and just like most trips you need to use the restroom when you get to where you are going. There were no public accessible restrooms which only made things more uncomfortable. To top things off what I thought would cost me $150 to $170 was overloaded in hidden fees to the tone of $236.00 for a room that was advertised at $89. Its been 2 days now and i still havent received an itemized invoice for what i was charged. It was truly the worst get-a-way I could have put my money towards if I was seeking a little relaxation. Being told your pets weren't allowed to be out of your vehicle on a property you'd stayed at twice before with no issues really tainted things. Add the numerous late night calls of the manager threatening to charge your credit card an additional $200 for your pet while having to consider finding another room at nearly 11pm guarantees I'll never stay another night at Gerinimo Creek Retreat. It would seem as though the company weazeled me out of an additional $75 to $85 for me having my dogs and for what? They never went into the cabin, spent 45 min at the most tied up to my vehicle and somehow this company feels justified in taking money they never earned nor was there any issue caused by them being there and like I had mentioned ive stayed there twice prior to this with my dogs and no issue. I think I'll put this review on at least 20 more review boards just so future guests know what they can expect.
........ In response to the mgmts response. I signed the contract while sitting in my vehicle on your property, second you telling me to ask a friend I went to visit in Seguin I hadn't seen in a while for last minute doggy day care services is about the last thing I expected and tbh was rather embarrassed I even did ask him. It came as no surprise he said he wasn't able to accomodate. And let's be clear about the facts. You started off your 11 pm call by telling me you were going to have to charge my card an additional $200 fee for having my dogs with me. THEY NEVER STEPPED FOOT IN THE CABIN. You'd already charged me $236.00 on a room advertised online at $89.
I appreciate your speedy response to my review but let's be clear I hadn't violated any rules that deserved you keeping money of mine you weren't entitled to. I'm sure there has to be a deposit in that $236 charge and it's quite unnerving that you decided to keep it especially after the way you sympathized with my situation and said you were only the messenger and you didn't subscribe to the owners rule on having a NO PET POLICY. Like I mentioned in my previous post. My dogs remained trapped in my vehicle the remaining 18 hours with the exception of when I drove them to the bowling alley so they could poop and pee. I'm sure your video cameras will bonafy...
Read moreFirst off I'll just say that all things considered, I would book again. Honestly, my expectations were just a little higher than what we actually experienced, but I guess you could say I based that solely on the advertising pictures. There were a few minor things we were slightly disappointed in, but it wasn't anything major and overall it was still a good experience. Now... based on what I saw at the campground, and the reviews I read, what little bit extra it costs to book a stay in a teepee vs one of the cabins was more than worth it because we had our own private bathroom. They are detached, but they're literally right behind the teepees and it's not an inconvenience at all. Plenty of hot water, coded locking doors, nice and clean. They do have towels, but you'll need to bring your own wash cloths. We stayed in teepee #3, and because of the materials used and lack of insulation I think, the tent probably "sweats" a little or maybe rain seeps through in areas and there was a little mold around the window which may have contributed to the slightly musty smell. Also, all the dishes, cups, bowls, pots, pans, silverware, ect has an overwhelming musty smell from not being properly washed by each renter and not being dried before being put up. It's not even a smell that I was able to wash off a cup to be able to enjoy a cup of coffee. Next time, I'll just bring my own and it won't even be a problem. There was a small fridge, microwave, small toaster, electric burner, and a coffee maker provided. Didn't find any "large toaster oven" as was in the advertisement, but we still made due. Also, bring your own coffee for the coffee maker because there isn't any. That wasn't specified in the listing but I guess I was expecting it. Again, no big deal. Another thing I didn't find in any of the reviews, is that there is a bowling alley directly behind the teepees and it was very loud because the building it's in is an old pier and beam building. Lots of banging and pins flying around making all kinds of noise. That was only Friday night, and it ended around 8:30 so it wasn't that big of a deal either. Also, don't expect too much privacy because you can literally hear everything from inside to teepees that is being said outside, or anything that is being said inside from the outside. I could literally understand almost every word of the people who were inside their teepee talking in a normal voice even when I was inside our teepee. The teepees are framed in plywood and skinned in canvas and some other waterproof material on the outside but they do not block sound whatsoever. Again, not a big deal, but don't expect it to be super quiet. For what little time we got to use the hot tub, it was nice. That was later ruined by other guests who basically took a bath in it to wash off muti colored chalk they had on them. It had to be drained and shut down because the water turned black. Not Geronimo's fault though. Overall, we enjoyed the stay and would go back. Next time will be better because I'll know what to expect and what to bring that I...

The Space - Overall super cute and cozy cabin! Great for a weekend getaway!! Loved the scenery and little lights around the property, very peaceful and relaxing. The patio areas were great for relaxing as well. Brought my dogs and they had a great time. Our cabin had 2 queen beds upstairs, sofa downstairs, and a king in the master, 1 bathroom. We had 2 adults and 2 dogs - Could definitely fit more people but might be a bit crowded (would be a good option for a group or family on a budget though). It says they don’t provide towels and paper towels, there were bath towels (not for the River though, definitely bring beach towels) and there were paper towels so no need to pack these. Walls are thin so be weary and you can definitely hear your neighbors outside if they are being noisy.
Bring bug spray.
Location - It is walking distance to the river and less than 5 mins drive to multiple river shuttle/ tube services. Also not far from the lake or town! My only complaint is the River access is not exactly as pictured, it is between a house and some construction work of another house. If you miss the sign, it could be a bit hard to find or easy to miss.
Also, I see in other reviews people mention a hot tub and kayaks (etc) for use. I didn’t see this mentioned on Airbnb so I didn’t get to use or didn’t know it was available. Since there was no map, maybe I went to the wrong river access area (although I did follow the signs once I found them). The area I was in does not match the photos with the deck, it was very unfinished. I wish they were more clear about these amenities in the description or check in process. A little map of the site in the cabin would be really helpful.
Parking - I think they should designate parking spots for each cabin, the parking was a bit limited. If people park poorly, they could easily lose a parking spot.
Check in - overall easy but There was no map, you just have to walk and look for the name of your cabin on each door till you find yours. No big deal but was weird arriving and looking at other people’s cabins. Also on the instructions, it mentions a gate and code but there was no gate so I wasn’t sure what this was for.
Overall great though and I would...
